3.6 Tbps · 800G stateful firewall in the fabric · dual AMD Pensando DPUs — the data-centre "smart switch"
The HPE Aruba Networking CX 10000 is a distributed-services switch that embeds two AMD Pensando DPUs directly in a top-of-rack switch — moving stateful firewalling, segmentation, NAT and telemetry into the network fabric. It delivers 3.6 Tbps of switching with 48 line-rate 10/25GbE ports and 6× 40/100GbE uplinks, plus up to 800G of distributed stateful firewall for east-west traffic, so you can apply zero-trust security per workload without separate appliances or service-chaining.
The embedded AMD Pensando DPUs run stateful firewalling, segmentation, NAT and DDoS protection line-rate inside the top-of-rack switch — so east-west traffic between servers is inspected and policy-controlled without hairpinning to a separate firewall appliance.

Pervasive telemetry
Every flow is observed at line rate, giving full east-west visibility for troubleshooting, capacity planning and threat detection that traditional ToR switches simply cannot provide.

Built for modern & AI workloads
Freeing compute from running security services, and giving high-bandwidth low-latency connectivity, makes the CX 10000 a fit for dense virtualised, container and AI/ML server estates.
Micro-segment workloads and inspect east-west traffic in the fabric.

AI / virtualised estates
Line-rate 25/100GbE with security offloaded from compute.

Regulated environments
Per-workload policy and pervasive telemetry for compliance.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is a "distributed services switch"?
It is a top-of-rack switch with built-in data processing units (DPUs) that run network and security services — firewall, segmentation, NAT, encryption, telemetry — directly in the switching hardware. On the Aruba CX 10000 these are AMD Pensando DPUs, delivering up to 800G of stateful firewalling for east-west (server-to-server) traffic without a separate appliance.
Q. How is the CX 10000 different from a normal ToR switch?
A normal top-of-rack switch forwards packets; to inspect east-west traffic you must steer it to an external firewall. The CX 10000 enforces stateful security and segmentation in the switch itself, per workload, at line rate — eliminating service-chaining, reducing latency, and giving per-flow telemetry.
Q. What is the CX 10040?
The CX 10040 is the newest member of the distributed-services switch family, announced to roughly double the scale and performance of the widely deployed CX 10000 — aimed at higher-density data centre and AI workloads. Servnet can advise on which model fits your design.
