How we work it out — honestly

  • Saving band: Gartner, "Market Guide for Data Center and Network Third-Party Hardware Maintenance", 29 Aug 2019 (ID G00414695) — TPM contracts save 50–70% off OEM support NET prices. IDC (2022) separately reports savings of up to ~50% vs OEM. Reports are dated; net-price basis (not off-list).
  • Optional spend estimator seeds ONE editable per-device figure anchored to HPE-published post-warranty Tech Care pricing (buy.hpe.com, captured 2026-07-04, ~$1,700/yr → £ at 0.74). Non-HPE OEM support pricing is quote-gated — enter your own renewal figure.
  • EOSL life extension: TPM providers report 3–5 (up to 7) additional supported years past OEM end-of-service-life; indicative.
  • All figures are indicative estimates shown as a range and confirmed by a free Servnet support audit — not a quotation. TPM covers hardware break-fix and defers refresh; it does NOT supply software/firmware security patches.

Third-party maintenance FAQs

How much can I save with third-party maintenance?

Independent analysts put it at roughly 50–70% off OEM support net prices (Gartner, Market Guide for Data Center and Network Third-Party Hardware Maintenance, 2019; IDC, 2022, separately reports savings of up to ~50%). The exact figure depends on your kit, vendors and current contract — the calculator applies that band to your own spend as an indicative range, and a free audit confirms it. It covers hardware break-fix only — not software or firmware security patches.

What is third-party maintenance (TPM)?

TPM is independent hardware support for servers, storage and networking, as an alternative to the manufacturer’s post-warranty maintenance (Dell ProSupport, HPE Tech Care, Cisco SmartNet, etc.). It typically costs far less, covers multiple vendors under one contract, and can keep equipment supported after the OEM declares it end-of-service-life.

Is third-party maintenance as good as OEM support?

For hardware break-fix, leading TPM providers match or beat OEM SLAs — 24x7x4 response, on-site engineers and spares. What TPM does not provide is software and firmware updates or security patches. For hardware maintenance and extending asset life it is an excellent fit; where a device needs ongoing security patching, that is a reason to refresh instead — and we will tell you so.

Can I extend support past end-of-service-life (EOSL)?

Yes — this is one of TPM’s biggest advantages. When an OEM withdraws support to push a refresh, third-party maintenance can keep the hardware fully supported, typically for 3–5 (up to 7) more years, so you refresh on your timetable, not the manufacturer’s. Check your kit’s dates with our storage end-of-life checker.

Which vendors can Servnet maintain?

Dell, HPE, Cisco, IBM, Lenovo, NetApp, Oracle, Juniper, Fortinet and more — servers, storage and networking, across mixed estates under a single contract, which also removes the overhead of juggling separate OEM renewals.

Are the calculator figures a quote?

No. Every figure is an indicative estimate shown as a range, based on your own OEM spend and a cited analyst saving band. Book a free, no-obligation audit and a specialist will review your estate and contracts and confirm your exact saving, SLA and support term.
