About the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X / 2960-XR
The Cisco Catalyst 2960-X and 2960-XR are fixed-configuration Layer 2/Layer 3 access switches that were widely deployed as enterprise access layer switches throughout the 2010s. The 2960-X offered FlexStack-Plus stacking of up to 8 switches, while the 2960-XR added IP Lite Layer 3 routing and redundant power supply options.
Cisco has announced end-of-sale for both the 2960-X and 2960-XR Series. Organisations still running these switches are advised to plan their migration to the Cisco Catalyst 9200 or 9200L — which deliver IOS-XE programmability, DNA Center integration, MACsec hardware encryption, 10G SFP+ uplink options, and StackWise-160 stacking not available on the 2960-X platform.
