Cisco has announced end-of-sale for the Catalyst 3850 and 3750-X. The recommended migration target is the Catalyst 9300 — which provides the same StackWise-480 architecture with a programmable ASIC and DNA Center.
Both models support full Layer 3 routing with OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, PBR, and VRF-Lite — enterprise-class routing at the access layer for routed access designs.
10G SFP+ uplinks on both 3850 and 3750-X enable high-speed connection to distribution switches — preserving the uplink investment on migration.
The Catalyst 9300 is the direct successor to both the 3850 and 3750-X — identical StackWise-480 stacking, same IOS CLI heritage, plus programmable ASIC and DNA Center.
The Cisco Catalyst 3850 and Catalyst 3750-X were the gold standard enterprise access switches of their generation — widely deployed as the primary wired access platform in enterprise campuses throughout the 2010s. The 3850 introduced StackWise-480 (480 Gbps stack bandwidth), unified wired+wireless management, and a fully programmable ASIC in the Catalyst line. The 3750-X brought StackWise-160 and IP Services routing to mid-range enterprise deployments.
Cisco has announced end-of-sale for both the Catalyst 3850 and 3750-X Series. The Cisco Catalyst 9300 is the direct successor — retaining the same StackWise-480 stacking architecture that 3850 operators are familiar with, while adding Cisco Uadp 2.0 programmable ASIC, Cisco IOS-XE, DNA Center SD-Access integration, MACsec hardware encryption on all ports, and streaming telemetry not available on the 3850 platform.
Servnet provides full Catalyst 3850/3750-X to Catalyst 9300 migration assessments — including configuration analysis, switch-by-switch replacement planning, and competitive quotations for replacement hardware. Our team is experienced in executing large campus access layer migrations with minimal disruption to end users.
