About the Palo Alto PA-7050 / PA-7080
The Palo Alto PA-7000 Series comprises two chassis-based next-generation firewalls: the PA-7050 (9U, 343 Gbps) and the PA-7080 (19U, 590 Gbps). These are the highest-performance NGFW systems in Palo Alto's lineup — and among the highest-performing NGFWs available from any security vendor — designed for service providers, hyperscale cloud providers, and the largest enterprise data centres.
Both PA-7000 models use a modular line card architecture, allowing organisations to combine GE, 10G, 40G, and 100G interfaces based on their specific topology requirements. Up to 120 × GE + 80 × 10G SFP+ + 40 × 100G QSFP ports are supported on the PA-7080 across its card slots. Redundant supervisor modules provide hitless failover within the chassis.
At the performance tier of the PA-7000 Series, the threat prevention capabilities are equally impressive: 184 Gbps (PA-7050) and 305 Gbps (PA-7080) of Threat Prevention throughput — meaning full IPS, URL filtering, anti-malware, and WildFire analysis can run simultaneously across multi-100G internet edges without any performance degradation.
