A20 Pro replaces A19 Pro — the graphics go from “5-core GPU with Neural Accelerators” to “7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators”, and the Neural Engine from “16-core Neural Engine” to “Dual 16-core Neural Engine”. Apple publishes no benchmark for either, so how much of that reaches a user depends entirely on the apps.

How long will each one keep getting iOS updates?

Apple does not publish a support end date for any iPhone. What history shows is roughly five to seven years of iOS releases from launch, which puts the iPhone Air 1 generation further through that window than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Plan a fleet on the older model's clock, not the newer one's.
