💻 EliteBook 8 G1i vs T14 Gen 6

The ThinkPad T14 Gen 6 is the classic fleet workhorse: one 14in chassis, MIL-STD-810H tested, ThinkShield security and a choice of Intel vPro or AMD PRO (DASH) manageability, plus native RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet, two USB-A ports and a smart-card reader that suit docking-heavy estates. The EliteBook 8 G1i is Intel-only with HP Wolf Pro Security and standardises well if you want a mix of 14in and 16in screens on a single image. Both accept Thunderbolt 4 docks, so match the choice to the imaging and manageability stack you already run.

Both offer two Thunderbolt 4 ports (40Gbps, DisplayPort 2.1, USB Power Delivery). On the AMD Ryzen AI PRO versions of the T14 those ports are implemented as USB4 40Gbps, the practical equivalent for docks and displays, while Intel builds of both laptops are full Thunderbolt 4. The EliteBook also adds a third USB-C port (10Gbps).

The T14 Gen 6 is a Copilot+ PC in every configuration, with Intel Lunar Lake up to 40 TOPS or AMD Ryzen AI up to 50 TOPS NPU. On the EliteBook 8 G1i, only the Intel Lunar Lake SKUs (Core Ultra 7 268V/256V, 47-48 TOPS) clear the 40+ TOPS Copilot+ bar; the Arrow Lake-H builds (265H/255H, around 13 TOPS) are AI PCs but not Copilot+. If Windows Copilot+ features are mandatory, specify a Lunar Lake EliteBook or any T14.

Neither is a mobile workstation; both are premium thin-and-light business ultrabooks without a discrete workstation GPU. For CPU-heavy multitasking the EliteBook's optional 16-core Arrow Lake-H (Core Ultra 7 265H/255H) with up to 64GB DDR5 gives the most headroom, while the T14's AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350 (8C/16T) is the strongest all-round performer on the ThinkPad side. If you need NVIDIA RTX graphics or ISV certification, look at the HP ZBook or Lenovo ThinkPad P-series instead.
