The HPE ProLiant Gen10 family launched in 2017 and became the most widely deployed enterprise server generation in history. Built around Intel Xeon Scalable 1st and 2nd Generation processors (Skylake-SP and Cascade Lake-SP) — and AMD EPYC 7001 “Naples” on the DL325 and DL385 — every Gen10 server ships with HPE iLO 5 out-of-band management, NVMe-capable storage and HPE Silicon Root of Trust security.
That ubiquity is exactly why Gen10 is the smartest refurbished HPE buy today: an enormous secondary supply, a deep and inexpensive parts pool, and a management generation (iLO 5) that is still fully current. The line-up spans the 1U DL360, the best-selling 2U DL380, the ML350 tower, and the AMD EPYC DL325 and DL385.

Why HPE ProLiant Gen10 is a smart choice today
Lowest cost-per-core in refurb
Gen10 shipped in vast numbers, so the secondary market is flooded with excellent-condition units — driving cost-per-core lower than any other supported HPE generation.
iLO 5 — still fully current
Gen10 uses the same HPE iLO 5 out-of-band management as later generations: HTML5 remote console, virtual media, agentless health and scriptable power. Not a downgrade.
A parts pool that outlives the warranty
Caddies, PSUs, risers, DIMMs and drives for Gen10 are cheap and abundant for years to come — keeping maintenance simple and low-cost.
In stock, not 12 weeks out
While new servers sit on AI-driven lead times, a re-certified Gen10 ships now — critical when a project cannot wait on the supply chain.
Proven, tested, warranty-backed
Enterprise silicon built for years of 24×7 duty. Every Servnet unit is component-audited, burn-in tested, NIST-wiped and shipped under warranty.
Drop-in for existing Gen10 estates
Standardise spares, firmware (SPP) and iLO tooling across an existing fleet by adding matching re-certified Gen10 nodes.
HPE ProLiant Gen10 vs Gen10 Plus
Gen10 is the lowest-cost route into a fully iLO 5-managed ProLiant. Step up to Gen10 Plus when you need 3rd-Gen “Ice Lake” Xeon or EPYC Rome/Milan, DDR4-3200 and PCIe 4.0 NVMe.
HPE ProLiant Gen10 end-of-life: dates and your options
Launched in 2017, the ProLiant Gen10 family reached end of general sale during 2024–2025 — HPE set the final worldwide order date at 31 March 2025 — as the range moved on to Gen11 and Gen12. HPE has published End of Service Life (EOSL) dates for the generation: the DL360 Gen10 is listed around 31 January 2028, the DL380 Gen10 around 31 March 2028, and the AMD DL385 Gen10 around 31 October 2029. Always confirm the exact date for a specific model with HPE or with us before relying on it.
EOSL is the point at which HPE first-party support (Pointnext / Care Pack) can no longer be bought or renewed and new firmware and Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) updates stop — it does not mean the hardware stops working. Gen10 is enterprise silicon built for years of 24×7 duty, and two routes keep it running cost-effectively well beyond EOSL: third-party maintenance (TPM), which typically matches or beats HPE’s SLA at lower cost on end-of-support hardware, and refurbished supply, where re-certified units and spares stay plentiful and cheap.
Servnet supports both. We can extend a Gen10 estate with TPM cover and re-certified spares, or build you a tested, warranty-backed Gen10 to spec in the refurbished configurator — and we’ll advise honestly on when to extend, buy refurbished, or step up to Gen10 Plus.

HPE ProLiant Gen10 — Frequently Asked Questions
What processors does the HPE ProLiant Gen10 support?
Intel models (DL360, DL380, ML350 Gen10) take 1st and 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors — Skylake-SP and Cascade Lake-SP — up to 28 cores per socket. The AMD models (DL325 and DL385 Gen10) use AMD EPYC 7001 “Naples”, up to 32 cores per socket.
Is the HPE ProLiant Gen10 end of life?
Gen10 reached end of general sale in 2024–2025 (HPE’s final worldwide order date was 31 March 2025). HPE has published End of Service Life (EOSL) dates of approximately 31 January 2028 (DL360 Gen10), 31 March 2028 (DL380 Gen10) and 31 October 2029 (DL385 Gen10), after which first-party support and new firmware stop. The hardware remains fully usable — third-party maintenance and refurbished supply keep Gen10 running cost-effectively well beyond EOSL. Confirm the exact date for your model with HPE or Servnet.
What is the difference between HPE Gen10 and Gen10 Plus?
Gen10 (2017) runs 1st/2nd-Gen Xeon Scalable or EPYC 7001 with DDR4-2933, PCIe 3.0 and FlexibleLOM networking. Gen10 Plus (2020/21) steps up to 3rd-Gen “Ice Lake” Xeon or EPYC 7002/7003 with DDR4-3200, PCIe 4.0, OCP 3.0 networking and NS204i NVMe boot. Both use iLO 5. See our full Gen10 Plus page for the side-by-side.
How much memory does an HPE DL380 Gen10 support?
The DL380 Gen10 has 24 DIMM slots and supports up to 3 TB of DDR4 memory at 2933 MT/s (2nd Gen Xeon) using LRDIMMs across both sockets.
Can I still buy HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers?
New Gen10 units are end-of-sale at HPE (final order date 31 March 2025), but they are widely available refurbished and re-certified. Servnet supplies tested, warranty-backed Gen10 servers configured to your spec — build one in our refurbished configurator and request a UK quote.
Does the HPE ProLiant Gen10 support NVMe SSDs?
Yes. With an NVMe-capable backplane, Gen10 supports U.2 NVMe SSDs over PCIe 3.0, alongside 12G SAS and 6G SATA drives in SFF or LFF bays.
What RAID controllers does the Gen10 use?
HPE Smart Array “SR” Gen10 controllers: the E208i-a HBA, the P408i-a (2 GB cache) and the P816i-a (4 GB cache) for RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60. M.2 boot options are also available.
Is a refurbished HPE Gen10 reliable enough for production?
Yes — these are enterprise servers built for years of continuous duty. A Gen10 coming off a three-year data-centre lease has plenty of service life left. Every Servnet unit is component-audited, burn-in tested, securely wiped and shipped under warranty, so production use is entirely appropriate.
