The Cisco Firepower 1010 (FPR1010-ASA-K9) is an entry-level next-generation firewall designed for small offices, remote workers, and branch deployments requiring enterprise security in a compact, affordable package. It delivers 890 Mbps of FTD firewall throughput and 900 Mbps of IPS performance — providing full-stack threat defence without sacrificing budget.
With 8 fixed Gigabit Ethernet ports (including 2 PoE+ ports), the FPR1010 can directly power connected IP phones or wireless access points, eliminating the need for a separate PoE switch in smaller deployments. The completely fanless design ensures silent operation, making it suitable for open-plan offices, retail environments, or any space-constrained location.
The FPR1010 supports both Cisco FTD (Firepower Threat Defense) software — which unifies the ASA firewall engine with NGIPS, application visibility, URL filtering, and advanced malware protection — and classic Cisco ASA software for organisations already familiar with ASA configuration. When running ASA, the FPR1010 delivers 2 Gbps of stateful inspection throughput.
Management is fully flexible: use the browser-based Firepower Device Manager (FDM) for simple local management, scale to Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) for centralised multi-device control, or adopt Cisco Defense Orchestrator (CDO) for cloud-based policy management across distributed sites.
