The Cisco Firepower 1150 (FPR1150-ASA-K9) is the flagship model of the Firepower 1000 Series, delivering 5.3 Gbps of FTD throughput and 6.1 Gbps of NGIPS performance in a 1U rack-mount chassis. It is the most capable firewall in the 1000 family, designed for large branch offices, campus edge deployments, and organisations that require 10G fibre uplinks at this price point.

A distinctive feature of the FPR1150 is its 2 × 10G SFP+ ports alongside 8 × 1G RJ45 and 2 × 1G SFP ports — enabling direct connection to campus core or data centre distribution switches over high-speed fibre without requiring a separate 10G aggregation layer. This makes it particularly well-suited to sites running high-bandwidth applications like video conferencing, large file transfers, or cloud-based storage.

With 600,000 concurrent sessions and support for 800 simultaneous VPN peers — and 2.4 Gbps IPSec VPN throughput — the FPR1150 handles large-scale remote access VPN without additional concentrators. TLS decryption at 1.4 Gbps allows full visibility into encrypted traffic, which is now the dominant protocol for both legitimate and malicious traffic.

The FPR1150 supports both Cisco FTD and ASA software. Under ASA, it delivers 7.5 Gbps stateful inspection with active/active high availability. Under FTD, active/standby HA is supported. Centralised management via Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC), or cloud-based management via Cisco Defense Orchestrator (CDO), allows consistent policy enforcement across all branch firewalls from a single pane of glass.
