The FPR9300 chassis accepts up to 3 independently managed security modules (SM-24, SM-36, SM-44, SM-56) — each running its own FTD or ASA instance.
Up to 16 FPR9300 chassis can be clustered into a single logical security device — delivering terabit-per-second aggregate throughput at carrier scale.
Native 100G QSFP28 and 40G QSFP interfaces provide the bandwidth density required for carrier internet exchange and large cloud interconnects.
Multiple isolated FTD or ASA instances can run on the same chassis — enabling per-tenant policy for managed service providers or segmented enterprise architectures.
Dual supervisors, N+1 hot-swap power supplies, and redundant fan trays — designed for five-nines availability in carrier and enterprise data centre environments.
Add security modules or chassis to the cluster without traffic disruption — scale security capacity independently from the network fabric.
All modules and chassis managed from a single Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center — unified policy, event correlation, and compliance reporting.
The Cisco Firepower 9300 is Cisco's carrier-grade modular security platform — a chassis-based system designed for the most demanding carrier, service provider, and hyperscale enterprise environments. It accepts up to 3 security modules per chassis, each running an independent instance of Cisco FTD or ASA software, and supports clustering of up to 16 chassis for terabit-scale aggregate throughput.
Each FPR9300 chassis is equipped with high-density 100G QSFP28 and 40G QSFP network interfaces, with the ability to present those interfaces as physical ports to individual security modules or shared across a cluster. This architecture gives network architects the flexibility to build security policies at any granularity — from per-tenant isolation to aggregate throughput pooling.
The security modules themselves come in four variants: SM-24, SM-36, SM-44, and SM-56 — each providing increasing compute and memory resources for higher throughput and session capacity. A fully populated three-module chassis with SM-56 modules delivers over 225 Gbps of ASA stateful inspection throughput in a single chassis. Clustered deployments scale this to terabit-per-second levels.
The FPR9300 is aimed at tier-1 carriers, hyperscale internet exchange points, managed security service providers (MSSPs), and large government or financial institutions requiring absolute performance and security at scale. Its multi-instance architecture allows MSSPs to deliver isolated, auditable security policies to multiple customers on shared hardware — dramatically reducing per-tenant hardware costs compared to dedicated appliance models.
Terabit clustering and 100G QSFP28 interfaces serve tier-1 carrier internet exchange and peering deployments.
Multi-instance per module enables isolated per-customer NGFW policies on shared carrier-grade hardware.
Three-module chassis and 16-chassis clustering provide terabit-scale perimeter security for hyperscale environments.
100G QSFP28 and massive session capacity handle internet exchange security filtering at wire rate.
