Common questions
Is the X1 Carbon Gen 12 a Copilot+ PC?
No. It is an AI PC — its Intel AI Boost NPU is rated up to 11 TOPS, enough to run Copilot via the cloud and the Copilot key, but below Microsoft's 40-TOPS threshold for on-device Copilot+ features such as Recall and Cocreator. If you specifically need a Copilot+ PC, choose the X1 Carbon Gen 13, whose Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7 258V carries a 47-TOPS NPU.
Which processor is in each stocked build?
The entry 21KC004UUK uses the Core Ultra 5 125U; the other four UK builds use the Core Ultra 7 155U — both 12-core / 14-thread Meteor Lake U-series parts with Intel Graphics and the 11-TOPS NPU, the 155U running to 4.8 GHz. The 135U/165U and the 16-core 155H/165H with Intel Arc Graphics are configure-to-order.
Is the memory upgradeable?
No. LPDDR5x-6400 memory is soldered to the board on every configuration and cannot be changed after purchase, so size it for the machine's full life. Stocked UK builds are 16 GB or 32 GB; 64 GB is available to order.
Does it have Wi-Fi 7?
The stocked UK builds ship with Intel Wi-Fi 6E (AX211) and Bluetooth 5.3. Lenovo lists a Wi-Fi 7 BE200 card as special-bid only on this generation — the mainstream X1 Carbon that ships Wi-Fi 7 as standard is the Gen 13. All Gen 12 configs support optional 4G/5G Sub-6 mobile broadband with eSIM.
How does Gen 12 differ from Gen 13?
Gen 12 is the 2024 Intel Core Ultra Series 1 (Meteor Lake) generation with Wi-Fi 6E and an 11-TOPS NPU; Gen 13 (2025) moves to Lunar Lake / Arrow Lake silicon, adds Wi-Fi 7 and a Copilot+ 258V option (47-TOPS NPU). Both share the carbon-fibre chassis, 57 Wh battery, dual Thunderbolt 4 I/O and dock compatibility, so they mix cleanly in one estate.
