The Rubrik r7000 Series is purpose-built backup hardware designed to run the Rubrik Security Cloud platform on-premises. Unlike commodity servers assembled with third-party backup software, the r7000 is co-designed with the Rubrik distributed file system — hardware and software validated together to deliver optimal performance, reliability, and immutability out of the box.
The appliance's distributed file system is immutable by design: once data is written, it cannot be modified or deleted by any actor — including ransomware, malicious insiders, or compromised administrator accounts. Combined with Rubrik Security Cloud's machine learning threat detection and Turbo Threat Hunting capabilities, the r7000 provides a hardened, auditable recovery platform that operates independently of production infrastructure.
In a scale-out configuration, r7000 nodes form a cluster that grows incrementally — adding one node at a time without reconfiguration or data migration. Integrated inline deduplication and compression maximise effective capacity, while optional tiering to Rubrik Cloud Vault extends retention to cloud object storage in a fully managed, air-gapped environment managed through the same console.
