Premium data services, at a refurbished price
Nimble’s appeal was always the software: triple-plus-parity RAID, efficient inline data reduction, application-aware snapshots and replication, and above all HPE InfoSight — cloud-based predictive analytics that forecasts and heads off problems across the fleet. Buying that capability new is a midrange-array investment; buying it refurbished puts it within reach of budgets that would otherwise be stuck on entry SANs.
The AF-Series (AF20/40/60/80) is all-flash for latency-sensitive databases, VDI and consolidation; the HF-Series (HF20/40/60/80) is Adaptive Flash — an SSD-cached hybrid that delivers flash-like performance for active data at a much lower cost per terabyte. Both scale out into clusters and both are supportable to 2028 on the newer models. Capacities scale into the petabytes; exact figures are configuration-dependent, so we size to your real dataset rather than a headline number.
Where Nimble sits in its support life
The AF and HF families are supportable to 2028 on newer models, and the platform continues as HPE Alletra — so a refurbished Nimble is a current-lineage array, not a dead end.
Newer Nimble (AF20/40/60/80, HF20/40/60/80 and variants) are tracked to EOSL 31 July 2028; legacy CS-series and first-gen AF/SF arrays reached EOSL 31 October 2024 — cheap, but best run under third-party maintenance. Nimble all-flash became HPE Alletra 6000 (2021) and hybrid became Alletra 5000 (2022). Confirm supportability with Servnet.

Nimble AF-Series (AF20 / AF40 / AF60 / AF80)
All-flash arrayAll-SSD with InfoSight analytics, inline data reduction, app-aware snapshots & replication; iSCSI and Fibre Channel; scale-out clustering. AF80 scales to ~1.1 PB raw (directional).
Latency-sensitive all-flash for databases, VDI and mixed-enterprise consolidation.
Newer models to 2028Nimble HF-Series (HF20 / HF40 / HF60 / HF80)
Adaptive Flash (hybrid)SSD cache + HDD capacity with InfoSight; iSCSI and Fibre Channel; scale-out. Flash-like performance for active data at a far lower £/TB.
Capacity-led general virtualisation, file and backup where most data is warm, not hot.
Newer models to 2028Legacy CS-Series & first-gen AF (AF1000–AF9000)

Beyond the headline saving, the practical advantages that matter at deployment.
Indicative reseller-reported saving vs new list for like-for-like specification — directional only, not an independent benchmark. Premium arrays vary widely by configuration and supply; confirm against a live Servnet quote.
Enterprise data services, midrange-down price
InfoSight predictive analytics, efficient snapshots and replication — premium software capability acquired for a fraction of new.
A current management lineage
Nimble lives on as HPE Alletra 5000/6000, so the platform, telemetry and tooling are current — not abandoned technology.
Flash performance, your way
Choose all-flash AF for the lowest latency or Adaptive Flash HF for the best cost-per-terabyte on capacity-led workloads — we’ll match the tier to your data.
Configured and health-assured
Every SSD and HDD is health-checked with wear/endurance assessed, controllers verified, firmware baselined, and the array configured to your hosts before it ships.
How we re-certify every Nimble array
Each Nimble is sourced from decommissioned estates, then component-audited: both controllers are tested for failover, NVDIMM/cache backup is checked, and every PSU, fan and host port (iSCSI and Fibre Channel) is verified. Every drive is health-checked — and for SSDs we assess wear and remaining endurance — before all media is securely erased to NIST 800-88 with a certificate of data destruction.
Firmware is brought to a supported baseline, the array is burn-in tested, then re-certified against the ordered specification and sealed — shipped under a Servnet hardware warranty, configured to your hosts and data-services requirements on request.
Warranty, support and third-party maintenance
Every refurbished Nimble ships with a Servnet-backed hardware warranty as standard, with extension options. Newer AF/HF arrays are tracked as supportable to 2028; for legacy CS-series and first-gen arrays (EOSL October 2024) third-party maintenance is the cost-effective route — Gartner has put TPM savings at up to 70% versus OEM renewal (Gartner, 2017).
As a 24-year HPE partner, Servnet can advise on whether a refurbished Nimble, a step up to HPE Alletra, or a different tier best fits your performance and support requirements — and supply and support whichever you choose under one UK point of contact.

HPE Nimble Storage refurbished — common questions
Are refurbished HPE Nimble arrays reliable for production?
Yes. Nimble arrays are built for continuous enterprise operation and carry mature, well-proven data services. Every unit we supply is component-audited (controllers, cache backup, drives, PSUs and host ports), SSD endurance is assessed, all media is NIST-wiped, firmware is baselined and the array is burn-in tested before shipping under warranty — appropriate for production database, VDI and virtualisation workloads.
Does a refurbished Nimble still get InfoSight?
InfoSight is HPE’s cloud-based predictive-analytics platform and is integral to the Nimble architecture. Access depends on a current support entitlement, so confirm the InfoSight and support position with Servnet for your specific array — it is an important part of the Nimble value and we will make the entitlement situation clear before you buy.
Nimble became HPE Alletra — does that affect a refurbished buy?
It is reassuring, not a problem. HPE rebranded Nimble all-flash as Alletra 6000 (2021) and Adaptive Flash hybrid as Alletra 5000 (2022), built on the same DNA. That means the platform lineage, telemetry and management approach are current, and skills transfer directly. A refurbished Nimble is a known, supported architecture rather than an orphaned one.
How long are Nimble arrays supported?
Newer AF and HF models (AF20/40/60/80 and HF20/40/60/80 plus variants) are tracked to end-of-support on 31 July 2028. Older CS-series and first-generation AF/SF arrays reached end-of-support on 31 October 2024 and are best run under third-party maintenance. Confirm the exact position for your model with Servnet.
AF (all-flash) or HF (hybrid) — which should I buy refurbished?
Choose AF-Series all-flash when you need consistently low latency — databases, VDI, dense consolidation. Choose HF-Series Adaptive Flash when most of your data is warm and capacity-per-pound matters more than peak latency; its SSD cache still gives flash-like performance for active data. We’ll size either to your real working set rather than a headline capacity.
