Expert Analysis

Specs web-verified from manufacturer datasheets · Servnet-reviewed · Last reviewed 8 Sept 2026

The HP EliteBook 8 G1i represents a notable generational advance over the EliteBook 840 G11, providing higher compute capabilities, improved battery capacity, and official Copilot+ compliance on selected configurations. UK IT buyers deploying the newer model gain access to Intel Core Ultra Series 2 architectures, including Lunar Lake variants delivering 47 to 48 TOPS NPU performance alongside integrated Intel Arc 140V graphics, or Arrow Lake-H options offering up to 16 cores and 16 threads. The EliteBook 8 G1i also delivers larger battery packs at 62 Wh or 77 Wh. Conversely, the EliteBook 840 G11 remains a dependable fleet deployment choice with distinct advantages in maintenance uniformity. Unlike the Lunar Lake configurations of the 8 G1i that solder memory to 32 GB, every 840 G11 model retains dual user-upgradeable SODIMM slots supporting up to 64 GB DDR5-5600. Both generations top out at 800-nit HP Sure View 5 panels. Organisations prioritising standardised internal memory upgrades will value the 840 G11, whereas enterprises seeking next-generation AI hardware and larger battery reserves should standardise on the EliteBook 8 G1i.
