Common questions
What's the difference between the Intel and AMD ThinkPad P14s Gen 7?
They share the name but not the chassis. The Intel build (type 21XJ) is a 14.5-inch aluminium machine with Intel Core Ultra H silicon, a discrete NVIDIA RTX PRO 500 or 1000 Blackwell GPU, replaceable LPCAMM2 memory and Thunderbolt 4 with 140 W charging and DisplayPort 2.1. The AMD build (type 21X0) is a lighter 14-inch composite machine, from 1.29 kg, with Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470, integrated Radeon 890M, two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots and an OLED panel option. Choose Intel for GPU-accelerated professional apps; AMD for lightest weight and NPU-per-pound where a discrete GPU is not needed.
Is the memory upgradeable?
Yes, on both — unusual for a workstation this thin. The Intel build uses a single replaceable LPCAMM2 module (LPDDR5X) to 96 GB; the AMD build keeps two standard DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM slots, also to 96 GB. Storage is one M.2 2280 slot in each (PCIe 5.0 on Intel, PCIe 4.0 on AMD), so a larger SSD is a swap rather than an addition.
Does it qualify as a Copilot+ PC?
Yes. All three stocked configurations exceed Microsoft's 40-TOPS NPU bar — 50 TOPS on the Intel Core Ultra 7 356H/366H and 55 TOPS on the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 — so on-device Copilot+ AI features are supported. Lenovo classes the machine as a Copilot+ PC and AI-Ready Workstation.
Which build has vPro or remote management?
The Intel Core Ultra 7 366H stocked build (21XJ0029UK) is Intel vPro Enterprise; the Core Ultra 7 356H build (21XJ002DUK) is non-vPro. The AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 build uses AMD PRO Manageability instead. All three carry a discrete TPM 2.0 and are manageable through their respective platforms.
