The workstation decision
GeForce power or RTX Pro certification
The T16g pairs desktop-class Core Ultra HX silicon with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs — the value route to 24 GB of VRAM and heavy GPU compute. If your workflow needs ISV certification and ECC as hard requirements, the ThinkPad P16 shares this chassis with RTX Pro graphics. We quote both, plus mixed estates, with volume breaks and deployment.

📦 180 W USB-C GaN power adapter and power cable in the box, plus quick-start documentation.

Common questions

T16g Gen 3 vs ThinkPad P16 Gen 3 — what's the difference?

They share the same chassis and docking, but the T16g uses NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs (creator/engineering class), while the P16 uses NVIDIA RTX Pro graphics with ISV certification and a workstation-grade memory focus. If your applications require ISV certification, choose the P16; for the best raw GPU value and large VRAM, the T16g is the pick. We can quote either.

Is the memory upgradeable?

Yes — and unusually so for a thin GPU workstation. It has four DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM slots, upgradeable to 192 GB non-ECC or 128 GB ECC. Note the platform speed behaviour per Lenovo's spec: 4 × 32 GB and 4 × 48 GB configurations run at 4000 MT/s, other configurations at 4400 MT/s. The stocked builds ship 96 GB (2 × 48 GB) and 64 GB (4 × 16 GB).

RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 — which configuration?

Choose the RTX 5090 (24 GB GDDR7) for VRAM-bound work — large 3D scenes, high-resolution timelines and local LLMs; the RTX 5080 (16 GB GDDR7) is the lower entry point with still-formidable performance. Both stocked configurations run the same Core Ultra 7 265HX, so the choice is GPU and memory, not CPU.

How many external monitors can it drive?

Up to five independent displays — the built-in panel plus four external monitors across the two Thunderbolt 5 ports, the Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1 — at resolutions up to 8K/60 or 4K/240 per output.
