About the Dell Pro Max 16

The Dell Pro Max 16 (MC16250) is the 16-inch model in Dell's Pro Max mobile workstation range. It is built around 45 W Intel Core Ultra H-series processors, from the 14-core Core Ultra 5 235H to the 16-core Core Ultra 9 285H, with vPro on the 235H, 265H and 285H for managed fleets.

Graphics are either integrated Intel Graphics or a discrete NVIDIA RTX PRO 500 (6 GB), RTX PRO 1000 (8 GB) or RTX PRO 2000 (8 GB) Blackwell, all with GDDR7 memory. System memory is socketed across two slots, from 16 GB DDR5-5600 up to 64 GB DDR5-6400 CSODIMM, and storage is a single M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD of up to 2 TB.

The 16-inch 16:10 panel comes as FHD+ (1920 × 1200) at 60 Hz, with a touch option, or QHD+ (2560 × 1600) at 120 Hz with 100% sRGB; every option is a 300-nit anti-glare WVA panel. Ports cover two Thunderbolt 4, two USB 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.1, RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet and microSD, with 5G and a smart-card reader to order. Batteries are 64 Wh or 96 Wh, and minimum weight is 2.11 kg.

For UK customers the Pro Max 16 suits engineering, CAD and visualisation users who want discrete NVIDIA graphics and serviceable memory on a Windows 11 Pro or Ubuntu fleet. Servnet quotes it with Dell ProSupport options and Accidental Damage Protection.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Which processors does the Dell Pro Max 16 (MC16250) use?

Dell lists the 45 W Intel Core Ultra 5 235H (14 cores), Core Ultra 7 255H, Core Ultra 7 265H and Core Ultra 9 285H (16 cores each). The 235H, 265H and 285H are vPro processors; the 255H is not.

Q. What graphics options are there?

Integrated Intel Graphics, or a discrete NVIDIA RTX 500 (4 GB GDDR7), RTX 1000 (6 GB GDDR7) or RTX 2000 (8 GB GDDR7).

Q. Can the memory and storage be upgraded?

Memory sits in two slots — 16 GB or 32 GB DDR5-5600 SODIMM kits, or 32 GB and 64 GB DDR5-6400 CSODIMM kits — for a 64 GB maximum. Storage uses two M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe slots, with drives of up to 2 TB each.

Q. What ports does it have?

Two Thunderbolt 4 (40 Gbps) ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (one with PowerShare), HDMI 2.1, RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet, a microSD slot and a headset jack. A smart-card reader and 5G with a nano-SIM slot are optional.

Q. Is it really worth 5-year ProSupport Plus?

For engineering fleets, yes — the cost per year is small relative to the device, and Accidental Damage Protection covers liquid / drop / electrical scenarios that aren't covered by standard warranty. Most Servnet workstation quotes opt for the 5-year tier.
