How much RAM do developers need in a laptop?

32 GB is the sensible floor for modern development; 64 GB or more is worth it if you run multiple containers, virtual machines or large IDEs and browsers simultaneously. Choose a model with socketed or high-capacity memory so it lasts the fleet cycle.

MacBook or Windows laptop for development?

Both are excellent. Apple silicon MacBooks lead on performance-per-watt and battery for cross-platform work; Windows performance laptops (ThinkPad, EliteBook, Dell Pro) win where you need vPro fleet management, Windows-native tooling or a wider price range. Pick on your toolchain and management model.

Do developers need a discrete GPU?
