Arista Switching Portfolio
Three platforms — enterprise leaf-spine, AI/GPU cluster fabric, and deep-buffer universal routing — all running Arista EOS with CloudVision management.
Why Arista Networks?
Consistent Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for Data Centre and Cloud Networking — the switching platform of choice for hyperscale AI and cloud operators.
EtherLink — The AI Networking Standard
Arista EtherLink™ is the end-to-end AI fabric portfolio — covering 800G spine (7060X6), 400G leaf (7050X4), and CloudVision AI management. Validated with NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD, AMD Instinct clusters, and major hyperscale AI training deployments, EtherLink provides a standards-based Ethernet alternative to InfiniBand with lossless RoCEv2, AI Analyzer telemetry, and deterministic forwarding.
Arista EOS — One OS, Every Platform
A single binary EOS image runs identically across the entire Arista switching portfolio — from a 48-port campus switch to a 64-port 800G AI spine. The same CLI, same API, same automation tools everywhere. EOS's multi-process architecture with Stateful Fault Containment ensures hardware forwarding never stops during software upgrades, process restarts, or live EOS patches.
CloudVision — Network-Wide Observability
Arista CloudVision provides a network-wide state database with streaming telemetry from every EOS switch. Change management, Zero Touch Provisioning, real-time topology visualisation, and instant root-cause analysis are all centralised — without SSH to individual devices. CloudVision's AI Analyzer streams per-queue congestion data at nanosecond resolution for GPU cluster performance tuning.
Deep Buffer for Bursty Workloads
The 7280R3A's 24GB ultra-deep buffer is 180× deeper than standard Tomahawk-based switches. This absorbs the long-duration bursts from storage backup, big data analytics, AI checkpoint saves, and media ingest — workloads that overwhelm shallow-buffer switches and cause TCP retransmission cascades. For storage-intensive environments, deep buffer typically improves effective throughput by 20–40%.
VXLAN BGP EVPN — Modern Fabric Native
Arista led the industry adoption of BGP EVPN as the control plane for VXLAN overlay networks. Single Pass VXLAN Routing, EVPN Multi-Site, and full L2/L3 overlay services are native in EOS across the entire switching range — enabling consistent multi-tenant data centre architectures without additional gateway appliances.
Multi-Layer Encryption
MACsec (Layer 2), IPsec (Layer 3), and VXLANsec (overlay encryption) are all hardware-accelerated in the 7280R3A at line rate. 400G ZR/ZR+ coherent optic support enables encrypted data centre interconnect without additional DCO transponder hardware — consolidating DCI, encryption, and switching into a single platform.
Switch Series Comparison
Compare speed, throughput, buffer depth, and ideal use cases across the three Arista platforms.
One OS. Every Platform.
Always Consistent.
Arista EOS runs as a single binary image across every switch — from a 1RU leaf to a 64-port 800G spine. The same CLI commands, same API calls, same automation scripts work everywhere. EOS's unique multi-process architecture separates state from forwarding — hardware forwarding never stops during software updates, process restarts, or live patches.
- ✓Single binary — one qualification, all platforms
- ✓Stateful Fault Containment — zero forwarding interruption
- ✓Full Linux shell, Python, Go, OpenConfig, gNMI, eAPI
- ✓Smart System Upgrade — hitless EOS updates in production
Network-Wide State.
Real-Time Visibility.
CloudVision collects streaming telemetry from every EOS device — building a real-time replica of your entire network's state. Change management with audit trails, Zero Touch Provisioning for new switches, instant root-cause analysis from correlated telemetry, and AI Analyzer for GPU cluster congestion — all from a single platform.
- ✓Zero Touch Provisioning — new switches auto-configure
- ✓Streaming telemetry from every device, every second
- ✓Change management with full audit trail and rollback
- ✓AI Analyzer — nanosecond-resolution GPU fabric telemetry
