Where the HPE Aruba 2530 stands today
The Rev-4 portal notices published on 14 April 2026 give these End of Support dates: J9777A (8G) on 31 October 2026, 23 days from today; J9772A (48G PoE+) and J9775A (48G) on 31 January 2027; J9773A (24G PoE+) and J9776A (24G) on 31 March 2027; and J9774A (8G PoE+) on 30 April 2027. The 10/100 "2530FE" switches, J9778A to J9783A and JL070A, have their own notice with an End of Support Life date of 31 October 2028. For the 10G-uplink J9853A to J9856A, Aruba's 2017 notice made 30 January 2022 the first day the product was no longer supported.
Dates follow the product number, not the serial. Read the J or JL number from the label or original order and open the matching 2530 notice under Notifications > Product End of Life on the HPE Aruba Networking Support Portal, where the 10/100 notice is titled "Aruba Switches"; the 10G-uplink models appear only in the 2017 PDF. For the Gigabit models, use the portal dates, which supersede the original 2021 PDF notices. A separate notice gives an End of Support date of 31 December 2026 for "CM" ordering SKUs such as J9772ACM, from an Americas-region Aruba Central pilot; it "does not affect the ongoing availability of the base product", so that date does not apply to a standard 2530.
HPE Aruba publishes end-of-sale and end-of-support dates per product number (SKU), not per serial. Read the J...A or JL...A product number from the switch label or the original order. Then open the HPE Aruba Networking Support Portal > Notifications > Product End of Life (https://networkingsupport.hpe.com/notifications;notificationCategory=Product%20End%20of%20Life), find the 2530 notice for your SKU group (8-port Gigabit, 24/48-port Gigabit, or the 10/100 notice listed as 'Aruba Switches'), and read that SKU's End of Sale and End of Support dates. The 10G-uplink models J9853A-J9856A are covered only by the 2017 PDF notice (https://asp-documents.arubanetworks.com/portals/0/el/EOS_2530-Switches-with-10G-Uplink.pdf).
What still works after HPE Aruba Networking support ends
HPE Aruba's 10/100 notice defines End of Support Life as the date after which "the product is no longer supported by Aruba Support Services", and adds that EoSL is "generally 5 years from End of Sale Date, but subject to change". The Rev-4 Gigabit notices give "End of Warranty date: 5 years from EoS date" and put End of Warranty for Limited Lifetime Warranty products on the EoSL date. No Last Supported Release has been set: the 8-port, 24/48-port and 10/100 notices all read "TBD".
The AOS-S 16.11 software branch, published for the 2530 as YA and YB images, reaches End of Development/Maintenance on 31 December 2028 and End of Support on 31 May 2030, dates that cover the software only. The current builds, YA_16_11_0032.swi and YB_16_11_0032.swi, were released on 25 September 2026 with file records that flag neither entitlement nor device registration; a download has not been tested, so whether a sign-in is needed is unverified. HPE's advisories cover supported software only: HPESBNW05156 says versions at End of Maintenance "are presumed to be affected by the vulnerabilities unless explicitly stated otherwise and are not covered by this security advisory", and that for software past End of Support HPE "has not assessed exposure".
- HPE Aruba defines End of Support Life as: 'The product is no longer supported by Aruba Support Services after this date.' It adds: 'End of Support Life (EoSL) is generally 5 years from End of Sale Date, but subject to change.' (asp-documents.arubanetworks.com)
- Security advisories cover only supported software. HPESBNW05156 (6 Oct 2026) says software versions at End of Maintenance 'are presumed to be affected by the vulnerabilities unless explicitly stated otherwise and are not covered by this security advisory'. For software past End of Support, HPE 'has not assessed exposure'. (support.hpe.com)
- The portal's file records for the current 2530 firmware (YA_16_11_0032.swi and YB_16_11_0032.swi, release date 25 Sep 2026, product series '2530 Switch Series') are marked requiresEntitlement=false and requiresDeviceRegistration=false. This was read from the portal's public data API. An actual download was not tested, so whether a portal sign-in is needed is unverified. (networkingsupport.hpe.com)
- Legacy warranty terms (HPE Aruba 'Warranty and Support Summary', updated as of June 2020, for earlier purchases): the 25xx row gives a Lifetime warranty with software/OS releases 'as long as owned'. Footnote 4: 'Includes all generally available software/OS releases offered for the specific products listed, when and if available, for as long as the customer owns the product, except where noted.' Footnote 5: for products purchased after 1 Dec 2014, the warranty lasts only as long as the original end user owns the product. (support.hpe.com)
What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the HPE Aruba 2530
The 2530s in HPE's installation guide are all 4.4 cm high, but power and uplinks vary; the guide does not cover the 10G-uplink J9853A to J9856A. Its 25.4 cm-wide 8-port units run from an external adapter (12 V DC, or 54 V DC on PoE+ versions), except the JL070A 2530-8-PoE+, which has an internal supply, and its 44.3 cm-wide 24- and 48-port units have a built-in auto-ranging AC supply and no power switch. In the guide, 24/48-port Gigabit models have four SFP slots, 24/48-port 10/100 models two 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and two SFP, and 8-port models two Gigabit dual-personality ports; the J9853A to J9856A carry "2SFP+" in their model names.
On the guide's PoE+ models the PoE supply provides 370 W on 48-port, 190 W on 24-port and 62 W on 8-port switches, up to 30 W per port or 7.5 W each with every port in use, so record the J-number, any external adapter and the optics against each switch. There is no backplane stacking; up to 16 switches can be managed through one IP address as a virtual stack (one Commander plus up to 15 Members) over standard network links, so the contract should name who rejoins a replacement unit to the stack and reloads its configuration. Network third-party maintenance generally offers fault diagnosis, replacement parts and engineers, and that cover need not stop at a SKU's HPE End of Support date.

Extend or refresh the HPE Aruba 2530?
Extension is easiest to justify for the 10/100 models, which HPE Aruba supports until 31 October 2028; on the Gigabit SKUs in the Rev-4 notices, vendor End of Support dates fall between 31 October 2026 and 30 April 2027, so plan any extension around each unit's date. Firmware comes first either way. The 2530 Switch Series appears in HPESBNW05156, a critical advisory dated 6 October 2026: AOS-S 16.11.0031 and below are affected by CVSS 9.8 authentication-bypass and unauthenticated remote-code-execution flaws, fixed in 16.11.0032 or later, and HPE's workaround is to restrict CLI and web management to a dedicated VLAN or behind firewall policy.
Refresh pressure is highest on the J9777A, whose End of Support date falls later this month, and on the 10G-uplink models already past their date. HPE Aruba's 10/100 end-of-sale notice names CX 6000 Switch Series replacements: R8N85A 48G CL4 4SFP, R8N87A 24G CL4 4SFP, R8N86A 48G 4SFP, R8N88A 24G 4SFP and R8N89A 12G CL4 2SFP 139W. From 15 January 2027 HPE will move every 2530 SKU on its list, including J9853A to J9856A, to a Limited Lifetime Warranty that lasts only while the original end user owns the switch, "up through five (5) years after the end of sale date". HPE's documents differ on today's terms: the QuickSpecs call the 2530 warranty Limited Lifetime, while the change notice lists the 2530 as currently under the Lifetime Warranty. The maintenance coverage builder can scope cover for the units you keep.
- Support ends at different times for different 2530 SKUs, so check the exact J-number. J9777A (2530 8G) reaches End of Support on 31 Oct 2026. J9772A and J9775A follow on 31 Jan 2027, J9773A and J9776A on 31 Mar 2027, and J9774A on 30 Apr 2027. The 10/100 models (J9778A-J9783A, JL070A) run to 31 Oct 2028. (networkingsupport.hpe.com)
- The Rev-4 portal notices (published 14 Apr 2026) supersede the original 2021 PDF notices. The PDFs gave end-of-sale dates of 31 May 2021 (8-port) and 31 Oct 2021 (24/48-port); the portal now gives later per-SKU dates. Use the portal dates. (asp-documents.arubanetworks.com)
- Critical advisory HPESBNW05156 (6 Oct 2026) lists the Aruba 2530 Switch Series. It covers CVSS 9.8 authentication-bypass and unauthenticated remote-code-execution flaws affecting AOS-S 16.11.0031 and below. The fix is AOS-S 16.11.0032 or later. HPE's workaround is to restrict CLI and web management to a dedicated VLAN or behind firewall policy. (support.hpe.com)
- The AOS-S 16.11.0032 release notes (2026-09-24) still list the 10G-uplink models J9853A-J9856A among the products supported by the YA/YB build, even though their hardware End-of-Support date (30 Jan 2022) has passed. (arubanetworking.hpe.com)
- Warranty: the Rev-4 2530 Gigabit notices give 'End of Warranty date: 5 years from EoS date'. Their definitions add that for Limited Lifetime Warranty products the end-of-warranty date is the same as the EoSL date. (networkingsupport.hpe.com)
- Warranty change from 15 Jan 2027: HPE says that 'all HPE Aruba Networking products currently covered by the HPE Lifetime Warranty (LTW) will move to a Limited Lifetime Warranty (LLTW)'. The LLTW lasts only while the original end user owns the product, 'up through five (5) years after the end of sale date'. Its product list includes every 2530 SKU, including J9853A-J9856A. HPE's documents differ on the current terms: the QuickSpecs call the 2530 warranty 'Limited Lifetime', but this notice lists the 2530 as currently under the Lifetime Warranty. (hpe.com)
- Scope trap: a separate notice gives an End-of-Support date of 31 Dec 2026 for 'CM' SKUs such as J9772ACM, J9773ACM and J9774ACM. These were ordering SKUs from an Americas-region Aruba Central pilot, and the notice says it 'does not affect the ongoing availability of the base product'. Do not apply that date to standard 2530 units. (asp-documents.arubanetworks.com)
- HPE named the 2540 series as the replacement for the 10G-uplink 2530s, and the 2540 is now end of sale too. The portal gives 2540 End of Support dates of 31 Oct 2026 for JL356A and 31 Jan 2027 for JL354A, JL355A and JL357A. (networkingsupport.hpe.com)

Questions people ask about the HPE Aruba 2530
Is the Aruba 2530 end of life?
Every 2530 SKU group is past end of sale, but HPE Aruba ends support SKU by SKU rather than on one date. The 10G-uplink J9853A to J9856A have been out of support since 30 January 2022, the J9777A 2530 8G follows on 31 October 2026, the J9772A, J9773A, J9775A, J9776A and J9774A between January and April 2027, and the 10/100 models on 31 October 2028. These are HPE Aruba's own published dates.
When does HPE stop supporting the Aruba 2530 48G PoE+?
The J9772A 2530 48G PoE+ reaches End of Support on 31 January 2027, the same day as the J9775A 48G; the 24-port J9773A and J9776A follow on 31 March 2027. The 10/100 models sit in a separate notice and run to 31 October 2028. If your order shows J9772ACM, that is an ordering SKU from an Americas-region Aruba Central pilot, with its own End of Support date of 31 December 2026 that does not apply to the standard J9772A.
Can I still download firmware for the Aruba 2530?
The current YA_16_11_0032.swi and YB_16_11_0032.swi builds date from 25 September 2026; their portal file records ask for neither entitlement nor device registration, but because no download was tested, whether a sign-in is needed is unverified. The 16.11.0032 release notes still list the 10G-uplink J9853A to J9856A among supported products, although their hardware End of Support date has passed. Earlier purchases under HPE Aruba's legacy Warranty and Support Summary (updated June 2020) fall under the 25xx row's Lifetime warranty, which "includes all generally available software/OS releases offered for the specific products listed, when and if available, for as long as the customer owns the product, except where noted"; for products bought after 1 December 2014, that warranty lasts only while the original end user owns the switch.
What replaced the Aruba 2530?
HPE Aruba's 10/100 end-of-sale notice names CX 6000 Switch Series models as replacements, including the R8N85A 48G CL4 4SFP and R8N88A 24G 4SFP. For the 10G-uplink 2530s, the 2017 notice named the 2540 series, which has since reached end of sale itself.
Can I get third-party maintenance for an Aruba 2530?
Third-party maintenance generally provides fault diagnosis, replacement parts and engineers, and the cover can carry on after a SKU's HPE End of Support date. Because the 2530 range mixes external adapters, internal supplies and three PoE budgets, a quote request should list every switch by J-number.
