| End of Warranty (Limited Lifetime Warranty units) | 31 January 2030 | Derived from vendor policyDerived; HPE does not print this date for the 3810M. The QuickSpecs say the 3810M has a limited lifetime warranty. The EoS notice defines End of Warranty for Limited Lifetime Warranty products as 'the same as the End of Support Life (EOSL) date', and refers readers to the Aruba warranty website. Separately, HPE's warranty-update notice puts JL071A-JL076A on the list of products moving on 15 Jan 2027 to a Limited Lifetime Warranty that runs 'up through five (5) years after the end of sale date' (https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a00161510enw). Where the HPE Aruba 3810M stands today
HPE Aruba announced the end of sale on 9 November 2022 and set the End of Sale Date at 31 January 2025, excluding South Korea from the announcement. The portal's per-SKU table gives JL071A to JL076A and the bundles JL428A to JL430A the same End of Support Life date, 31 January 2030, so a 3810M estate has one End of Support Life date to plan against. The retired QuickSpecs (Version 28, 1 April 2024) state that "the base products listed herein are now considered obsolete and are no longer available for sale", and the portal still lists the Last Supported Release as "TBD".
To confirm a unit, check that the product number on its label is one of the nine, then match it to the PDF notice or to the portal's Product End of Life entry titled "Aruba Switches" (published 1 June 2023, product series "3810M Switch Series"). The End of Warranty date for Limited Lifetime Warranty units is derived, not printed by HPE: the notice makes it "the same as the End of Support Life (EOSL) date", and under HPE's warranty-update notice the JL071A through JL076A will move on 15 January 2027 to a Limited Lifetime Warranty running up through five years after the end of sale date. Applied to the 31 January 2025 end of sale, both rules give 31 January 2030.
The dates are the same for every 3810M SKU: End of Sale 2025-01-31 and End of Support Life 2030-01-31. Confirm your product number (JL071A-JL076A, JL428A-JL430A) on the switch label. Then check it against the PDF notice (https://asp-documents.arubanetworks.com/portals/0/External%20End%20of%20Sale%20Announcement%20-%20Aruba%203810%20Revisedv5.pdf), or against the portal's Product End of Life list (https://networkingsupport.hpe.com/notifications;notificationCategory=Product%20End%20of%20Life), where the 3810M notice is titled 'Aruba Switches' (published 1 Jun 2023) with product series '3810M Switch Series'.
What still works after HPE Aruba Networking support ends
After 31 January 2030 the notice's definition applies: "The product is no longer supported by Aruba Support Services after this date." The 3810M's End of Sale and EoSL dates sit exactly five years apart, in line with the notice's footnote that EoSL is "generally 5 years from End of Sale Date, but subject to change". The AOS-S 16.11 branch, whose KB-prefix images the 3810M shares with the 5400R zl2, is supported until 31 May 2030, four months beyond the hardware date, with End of Development/Maintenance on 31 December 2028. KB_16_11_0032.swi was released on 25 September 2026; the portal records it as needing neither entitlement nor device registration, a flag not yet confirmed by an actual download.
Two limits apply. Security advisories stop at supported software: HPESBNW05156 says End of Maintenance versions "are presumed to be affected" yet are left out of the advisory, and that for releases past End of Support HPE "has not assessed exposure". The open-ended software entitlement belongs to earlier purchases, whose June 2020 Warranty and Support Summary gave the 38xx row a Lifetime warranty with generally available software/OS releases, when and if available, "as long as owned", except where noted. From 15 January 2027, the JL071A through JL076A will move to a Limited Lifetime Warranty lasting "up through five (5) years after the end of sale date", and only while the original end user owns the switch.
- Notice definition: 'End of Support Life (EOSL)*: The product is no longer supported by Aruba Support Services after this date', with '* End of Support Life (EoSL) is generally 5 years from End of Sale Date, but subject to change.' (asp-documents.arubanetworks.com)
- Security advisories cover only supported software. HPESBNW05156 (6 Oct 2026) says End of Maintenance software versions 'are presumed to be affected ... and are not covered by this security advisory'. For software past End of Support, HPE 'has not assessed exposure'. (support.hpe.com)
- The portal's file record for KB_16_11_0032.swi (release date 25 Sep 2026, product series 3810M and 5400R zl2) is marked requiresEntitlement=false and requiresDeviceRegistration=false. This was read from the portal's public data API; an actual download was not tested. (networkingsupport.hpe.com)
- For earlier purchases covered by the legacy 'Warranty and Support Summary' (updated as of June 2020), the 38xx row gives a Lifetime warranty with software/OS releases 'as long as owned'. Footnote 4: all generally available software/OS releases, when and if available, for as long as the customer owns the product, except where noted. (support.hpe.com)
What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the HPE Aruba 3810M
Every 3810M is 1U (17.42 x 16.98 x 1.73 in), but the six base models need separate contract entries. JL071A and JL072A are 24- and 48-port gigabit switches, JL073A and JL074A their PoE+ versions, JL075A a 2-slot model with 16 SFP+ ports, and JL076A pairs 40 gigabit PoE+ ports with 8 HPE Smart Rate ports (100M to 10GBASE-T). Bundles JL428A and JL429A add a JL083A 4-port SFP+ module and a 680 W or 1050 W supply to a JL074A; JL430A adds two JL083A modules and a 250 W supply to a JL075A. Other uplinks are the JL078A 1-port 40GbE QSFP+, the JL079A 2-port QSFP+ (JL072A, JL074A and JL076A only) and the JL081A 4-port Smart Rate PoE+.
Two hot-swappable supply slots need at least one supply, ordered separately: JL085A 250 W, JL086A 680 W or JL087A 1050 W. Maximum possible PoE is 840 W on the JL073A and 1440 W on the JL074A and JL076A, at up to 30 W per port, so record the supplies fitted to each unit. Stacking uses the JL084A 4-port module and 3800/3810M cables (J9578A 0.5 m, J9665A 1 m, J9579A 3 m), and nonstop switching keeps traffic forwarding during failover as a backup member becomes commander. Each unit also has an RJ-45 serial console, an RJ-45 out-of-band management port and a dual-personality RJ-45 or USB micro-B port. Hardware break-fix support for a stack should name the stacking parts as well as the switches.

Extend or refresh the HPE Aruba 3810M?
With vendor support running to 31 January 2030, a stable, patched 3810M stack need not be replaced on lifecycle grounds alone, and third-party maintenance after that date is a reasonable continuation. Spares favour it for power and uplinks: the JL085A, JL086A and JL087A supplies and the JL078A, JL081A and JL083A modules remain orderable options in the current 2930M QuickSpecs (V30, 27 February 2026). Stacking parts are the gap, because the JL084A and the 3800/3810M cables are missing from those QuickSpecs.
Software is what shortens the horizon. Critical advisory HPESBNW05156 (6 October 2026) includes the Aruba 3810M Switch Series in a CVSS 9.8 warning covering authentication bypass and remote code execution in AOS-S 16.11.0031 and below, remedied by 16.11.0032 or later, and the branch's End of Development/Maintenance arrives about a year before the hardware date. The end-of-sale notice names an Aruba 6300M replacement for each SKU: JL664A for the JL071A, JL663A for the JL072A, JL662A for the JL073A, JL661A for the JL074A, JL428A and JL429A, JL658A for the JL075A and JL430A, and JL660A for the JL076A. The 6300M runs AOS-CX rather than AOS-S, so the move is a configuration migration as well as a hardware swap.
- HPE has marked the 3810M QuickSpecs (V28, 01-Apr-2024) 'RETIRED': 'the base products listed herein are now considered obsolete and are no longer available for sale'. (support.hpe.com)
- Spares outlook: the 3810M uses the JL085A, JL086A and JL087A power supplies and the JL078A, JL081A and JL083A uplink modules. The same SKUs are still listed as orderable options in the current 2930M QuickSpecs (V30, 27 Feb 2026), which name the modules as '3810M/2930M' or '3810M' parts. The stacking parts (JL084A and the 3800/3810M cables) are not in the 2930M QuickSpecs. (support.hpe.com)
- Critical advisory HPESBNW05156 (6 Oct 2026) lists the Aruba 3810M Switch Series. It covers CVSS 9.8 authentication-bypass and remote-code-execution flaws in AOS-S 16.11.0031 and below; the fix is AOS-S 16.11.0032 or later. (support.hpe.com)
- Software support outlasts the hardware. The AOS-S 16.11 branch is supported until 31 May 2030, after the 3810M hardware EoSL of 31 Jan 2030. Its End of Development/Maintenance is 31 Dec 2028. (networkingsupport.hpe.com)
- Warranty change from 15 Jan 2027: HPE lists the 3810M switches (JL071A-JL076A) among products 'currently covered by the HPE Lifetime Warranty (LTW)' that move to a Limited Lifetime Warranty lasting 'up through five (5) years after the end of sale date', and only while the original end user owns the product. (hpe.com)
- The end-of-sale notice names an Aruba 6300M replacement for each SKU: JL075A/JL430A to JL658A; JL074A/JL428A/JL429A to JL661A; JL073A to JL662A; JL071A to JL664A; JL072A to JL663A; JL076A to JL660A. Moving to a 6300M also means moving from AOS-S to AOS-CX. (asp-documents.arubanetworks.com)

Questions people ask about the HPE Aruba 3810M
Is the Aruba 3810M end of life?
It is end of sale but not yet out of support. HPE Aruba's End of Sale Date for all nine 3810M SKUs was 31 January 2025, with South Korea excluded from the announcement, and its published End of Support Life date is 31 January 2030. The retired QuickSpecs describe the base products as obsolete and no longer available for sale.
When does HPE stop supporting the 3810M?
HPE Aruba's published End of Support Life date is 31 January 2030, for JL071A to JL076A and JL428A to JL430A alike; in the notice's words, the product is no longer supported by Aruba Support Services after this date. The AOS-S 16.11 software branch has a separate, software-only End of Support date of 31 May 2030.
Can I still download firmware for the Aruba 3810M?
HPE's portal lists KB_16_11_0032.swi, dated 25 September 2026, as needing neither entitlement nor device registration; that portal flag is untested. The build carries 16.11.0032, the minimum version HPESBNW05156 lists as fixing its critical AOS-S flaws.
What replaced the Aruba 3810M?
HPE's end-of-sale notice names an Aruba CX 6300M model for each 3810M SKU; the JL074A 48G PoE+ maps to the JL661A, for example, and the JL076A to the JL660A. The 6300M runs AOS-CX instead of AOS-S, so configurations have to be moved across.
Can I get third-party maintenance for an Aruba 3810M?
Third-party maintainers typically handle fault diagnosis, spare parts and engineer call-outs, before or after HPE's End of Support Life date of 31 January 2030. To quote, they need each switch's JL number plus its power supplies, uplink modules and any stacking module and cables; what third-party maintenance covers explains how such contracts work.
