HPE Aruba 2930M end of life

The HPE Aruba 2930M is not end of life: HPE Aruba has published no end-of-sale notice for it, so as of 8 October 2026 neither a sale end nor a support end has been dated for the hardware. Eight 2930M models are still listed as orderable in HPE's QuickSpecs, and the published end dates that apply belong to the software it runs, the AOS-S 16.11 branch, which HPE supports until 31 May 2030.

HPE Aruba 2930M support dates

Every row names its basis. A third-party tracker date is not the vendor’s own, and “not published” means exactly that.

Where the HPE Aruba 2930M stands today

The Support Portal's Product End of Life list holds 208 notices, and, re-checked on 8 October 2026, not one names the 2930M series or any 2930M SKU. The QuickSpecs (Version 30, 27 February 2026) are not marked retired and list eight build-to-order models, and HPE's Networking Warranty Summary for products sold today, updated on 8 September 2026, still includes the 2930M. HPE Aruba's switch end-of-sale notices put EoSL at "generally 5 years from End of Sale Date, but subject to change", so with no End of Sale there is nothing yet to count from.

The end-of-life dates that do exist belong to the operating system. The portal lists AOS-S 16.11 images for the 2930M under the WC prefix, shared with the 2930F; the branch reaches End of Development/Maintenance on 31 December 2028 and End of Support on 31 May 2030, and as of 8 October 2026 no later AOS-S major release is listed. HPE Aruba publishes hardware end-of-life dates per SKU, not per serial, so to check for one later, search the list for "2930M" or your JL or R0M number, and open notices titled only "Aruba Switches" too, since many older ones carry that title. The server and network end-of-life checker can check the rest of an estate.

Finding the date for your own unit

No 2930M end-of-sale or end-of-support date exists yet. To check for one later, open the HPE Aruba Networking Support Portal > Notifications > Product End of Life (https://networkingsupport.hpe.com/notifications;notificationCategory=Product%20End%20of%20Life) and search for '2930M' or your JL/R0M product number. Note that many older notices are titled only 'Aruba Switches', so check the product series and SKU list in each notice. Dates are published per SKU, not per serial.

What still works after HPE Aruba Networking support ends

HPE's Networking Warranty Summary, which lists the 2930M, says priority 24x7 TAC and help with setup, configuration or interoperability need "an active HPE Foundational Care for HPE Aruba Networking support contract", a current HPE Aruba Networking service. HPE's support-services page makes Foundational Care a prerequisite for Advanced Care and Premium Care, and with no per-model list on that page, eligibility is confirmed through the Support SKU Lookup on Support Services Central. For products sold today, warranty technical support and configuration help last the first 90 days, after which warranty phone or digital support covers only diagnosing a hardware fault before an RMA.

WC_16_11_0032.swi, released for the 2930M and 2930F on 25 September 2026, carries a portal file record that flags neither entitlement nor device registration, though no test download has confirmed it. Earlier purchases under the June 2020 Warranty and Support Summary carry the 29xx row's Lifetime warranty with software/OS releases "as long as owned": all generally available releases, when and if available, for as long as the customer owns the product. Advisory coverage depends on the release still being supported: HPESBNW05156 treats End of Maintenance versions as presumed affected and outside its scope, and says HPE has not assessed exposure for software past End of Support.

  • HPE Aruba's switch end-of-sale notices (for example the 3810 notice) define End of Support Life as: 'The product is no longer supported by Aruba Support Services after this date', and add that 'EoSL is generally 5 years from End of Sale Date, but subject to change.' No such notice exists yet for the 2930M. (asp-documents.arubanetworks.com)
  • Security advisories cover only supported software. HPESBNW05156 (6 Oct 2026) says End of Maintenance software versions 'are presumed to be affected ... and are not covered by this security advisory'. For software past End of Support, HPE 'has not assessed exposure'. (support.hpe.com)
  • The portal's file record for WC_16_11_0032.swi (release date 25 Sep 2026, product series 2930M and 2930F) is marked requiresEntitlement=false and requiresDeviceRegistration=false. This was read from the portal's public data API; an actual download was not tested. (networkingsupport.hpe.com)
  • For earlier purchases covered by the legacy 'Warranty and Support Summary' (updated as of June 2020), the 29xx row gives a Lifetime warranty with software/OS releases 'as long as owned' (footnote 4: all generally available releases, when and if available, for as long as the customer owns the product). For products sold today, HPE's Networking Warranty Summary limits technical support and configuration help to the first 90 days. After that, warranty phone or digital support covers only diagnosing a hardware fault before an RMA. (support.hpe.com)

Vendor support you can still buy

  • HPE Foundational Care for HPE Aruba Networking — Per HPE's Networking Warranty Summary (which lists 2930M models), priority 24x7 TAC and help with setup, configuration or interoperability need 'an active HPE Foundational Care for HPE Aruba Networking support contract'. This is the current HPE Aruba Networking offering. It is not the retired HPE 'Foundation Care' server-support brand. (hpe.com)
  • HPE Aruba Networking Advanced Care / Premium Care — Higher tiers named on HPE's support-services page; 'Foundational Care (FC) is a prerequisite for Advanced Care and Premium Care'. The page has no per-model list, so confirm eligibility for your SKU with the Support SKU Lookup on Support Services Central. (hpe.com)

What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the HPE Aruba 2930M

A 2930M measures 1.73 in high, 17.42 in wide and 12.77 in deep, and its maintenance schedule has to list modules as well as the chassis. Power supplies are not included in its two hot-swappable slots; the options are the JL085A 250 W, JL086A 680 W and JL087A 1050 W. PoE budget reaches up to 1440 W, and the IEEE 802.3bt Class 6 models, the R0M67A and R0M68A, deliver up to 60 W per port, so note which supplies each switch carries. The uplink module options are the JL078A 1-port QSFP+ 40GbE, the JL083A 4-port 100M/1G/10G SFP+ MACsec and the JL081A 4-port HPE Smart Rate PoE+.

The JL322A 48G PoE+ has 44 gigabit PoE+ ports and 4 combo ports taking 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ or SFP, plus an uplink slot, a stacking module slot, a 100BASE-T out-of-band management port, USB-A and a dual-personality RJ-45 or USB micro-B console. The JL325A 2-port module stacks up to 10 members in a ring, with up to 100 Gbps of stacking throughput per switch, so the maintenance terms should cover re-adding a swapped unit to the ring. QuickSpecs Versions 11 to 13 (March to July 2019) removed obsolete SKUs, so check part numbers against the current list. Independent network third-party maintenance typically handles fault diagnosis, spare parts and engineer visits, either alongside HPE's warranty and Foundational Care or later on.

Extend or refresh the HPE Aruba 2930M?

HPE has set no hardware end date that would push a working 2930M out of service, and its QuickSpecs still list the switch as orderable, so keeping it is a software question before it is a support one. Critical advisory HPESBNW05156, issued on 6 October 2026, lists the Aruba 2930M Switch Series: AOS-S 16.11.0031 and below carry CVSS 9.8 authentication-bypass and remote-code-execution flaws, and the fix is AOS-S 16.11.0032 or later.

For refresh planning, the date to work back from is 31 December 2028, when AOS-S 16.11 reaches End of Development/Maintenance. The HPE Aruba Networking CX 6300M Switch Series is the next model in the same line and runs AOS-CX, so moving to it changes the operating system as well as the hardware. Warranty terms for earlier purchases change on 15 January 2027, when HPE will move the JL319A, JL320A, JL321A, JL322A, JL323A, JL324A and R0M67A from the Lifetime Warranty to a Limited Lifetime Warranty running "up through five (5) years after the end of sale date"; units sold under the current summary are already on "LLTW EOS + 5-Years". Mapping each switch's SKU and warranty basis in the maintenance coverage builder keeps those changes visible.

  • The hardware has no end date, but its software branch does. AOS-S 16.11 reaches End of Development/Maintenance on 31 Dec 2028 and End of Support on 31 May 2030. As of 2026-10-08 the portal lists no AOS-S major release later than 16.11. (networkingsupport.hpe.com)
  • Critical advisory HPESBNW05156 (6 Oct 2026) lists the Aruba 2930M Switch Series. It covers CVSS 9.8 authentication-bypass and remote-code-execution flaws in AOS-S 16.11.0031 and below; the fix is AOS-S 16.11.0032 or later. (support.hpe.com)
  • Not every 2930M-related SKU ever listed is still sold. The QuickSpecs change log records 'Obsolete SKUs were removed' in Versions 11 to 13 (Mar-Jul 2019), so check the exact SKU against the current BTO list. (support.hpe.com)
  • Warranty change from 15 Jan 2027: HPE lists 2930M SKUs (JL319A-JL324A, R0M67A) among products 'currently covered by the HPE Lifetime Warranty (LTW)' that move on that date to a Limited Lifetime Warranty, which runs 'up through five (5) years after the end of sale date'. This matters for earlier purchases: units sold under the current warranty summary are already on 'LLTW EOS + 5-Years'. (hpe.com)
  • The 2930M shares uplink modules (JL078A, JL081A, JL083A) and power supplies (JL085A, JL086A, JL087A) with the 3810M. They remain orderable options in the current 2930M QuickSpecs. (support.hpe.com)

The 2930M has a documented predecessor: HPE Aruba's 2915/2920 end-of-sale notice, announced on 30 June 2017, names the JL319A to JL322A, each paired with a power supply, as market replacements for the 2920 SKUs J9726A to J9729A and J9836A. Its uplink modules and power supplies are shared with the 3810M, which unlike the 2930M already has an end-of-sale notice (HPE Aruba 3810M end of life), and its WC firmware images with the 2930F (HPE Aruba 2930F end of life).

Each bar runs from release to the milestone that marks end of support for the model as a whole. Amber bars end on a third-party tracker's date, not the vendor's. A dashed open end means no end date is published — not that support is indefinite. Component and accessory dates (a management controller, a power module) are not treated as the model's.

Questions people ask about the HPE Aruba 2930M

Is the Aruba 2930M end of life?

No. As of 8 October 2026 HPE Aruba has published no end-of-sale notice for the 2930M, and the current QuickSpecs list eight orderable models. With no end-of-sale date there is no hardware end-of-support date yet.

When will HPE stop supporting the 2930M?

HPE has not published a date. Its switch end-of-sale notices describe End of Support Life as generally five years from End of Sale, subject to change, and no 2930M End of Sale has been set. The AOS-S 16.11 branch the 2930M runs has its own dates, which cover the software only: End of Development/Maintenance on 31 December 2028 and End of Support on 31 May 2030.

Can I still download firmware for the Aruba 2930M?

WC_16_11_0032.swi, released on 25 September 2026, has a portal file record showing no entitlement or device-registration requirement, though that has not been checked by downloading it. Installing 16.11.0032 matters: advisory HPESBNW05156 names AOS-S 16.11.0032 or later as the fix for critical flaws affecting 16.11.0031 and below.

What comes after the Aruba 2930M?

With no 2930M end-of-life notice published, HPE has not named a successor. The HPE Aruba Networking CX 6300M Switch Series is the next model in the same line, and it runs AOS-CX rather than the AOS-S software on the 2930M. See HPE Aruba networking for the wider range.

Does the 2930M warranty change in 2027?

For earlier purchases still on the Lifetime Warranty, yes. On 15 January 2027 HPE will move the JL319A through JL324A and the R0M67A from the Lifetime Warranty to a Limited Lifetime Warranty that runs up through five years after the end of sale date. Units sold under HPE's current Networking Warranty Summary are already on "LLTW EOS + 5-Years".
