Where the Cisco Catalyst 3750-X stands today
EOL10623 was announced on 31 October 2015 and ended sale of the 3750-X switches and their network and service modules on 30 October 2016, with last shipments on 28 January 2017. Software maintenance releases and new contract attachment ended on 30 October 2017. End of Vulnerability/Security Support followed on 30 October 2019, contract renewals closed on 28 January 2021, and the Last Date of Support arrived on 31 October 2021. Power supplies, power cords, fan modules, accessory kits and licences were retired under a separate bulletin, EOL10903, with the same End-of-Sale date of 30 October 2016 and the same Last Date of Support of 31 October 2021. Cisco's support page records the series, released on 15 March 2010, as 'End of Support'.
A later Cisco notice, EOL14979, needs reading carefully. Published in 2023 under the title 'Catalyst 3750-X Series Switches', it covers only these software and licence SKUs: C1-R-C375X-24/48-L-S, LL-3750X-24-USED=, S375XVK9T-15002EZ and S375XVK9TN-15002EZ. Their End-of-Sale date was 5 September 2023 and their operating-software Last Date of Support is 30 September 2028. Switch hardware is not included, the bulletin does not say how that date relates to hardware support, and Cisco's support page still shows End of Support on 31 October 2021, so the 2028 date should not be read as extended hardware support.
What still works after Cisco support ends
EOL10623 states that 'Cisco hardware warranty support will be discontinued on the Last Date of Support (LDoS)', so Cisco hardware warranty support ended with it in October 2021. Since that date, Cisco PSIRT has continued to take in vulnerability reports for the 3750-X while declining to analyse, fix or disclose them, and it issues no CVEs for the product. Security fixes had already ended on 30 October 2019, so a 3750-X in service today has been without them for about seven years.
With new service attachment closed since October 2017 and contract renewals since January 2021, hardware cover for 3750-X switches now has to come from outside Cisco. For switches past vendor end of support, network third-party maintenance generally provides fault diagnosis, replacement parts and engineers.
- Security fixes ended first: End of Vulnerability/Security Support: HW was 2019-10-30, two years before the hardware Last Date of Support. (cisco.com)
- Since the hardware Last Date of Support (2021-10-31), Cisco PSIRT accepts vulnerability reports but will not analyse, fix or disclose them, and issues no CVEs for the product. (sec.cloudapps.cisco.com)

What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the Cisco Catalyst 3750-X
A 3750-X stack has more parts than its 1 RU height suggests. Models span 24- and 48-port 10/100/1000 switches in data, PoE+ and UPOE versions, plus 12- and 24-port GE SFP models. Uplinks come from modules: the C3KX-NM-1G (four GbE), C3KX-NM-10G (two 10GbE SFP+ plus two SFP), C3KX-NM-10GT (two 10GBASE-T) and the C3KX-SM-10G service module (two 10GbE SFP+ with NetFlow and MACsec). StackWise Plus joins up to nine switches as a single logical unit at 64 Gbps, and StackPower pools power across up to four switches.
Power supplies set the PoE budget, so a maintenance schedule should record the wattage fitted in each switch. The modular options are 350W AC, 715W AC, 1100W AC and 440W DC, with dual redundant supplies supported but only one shipped as standard. A 24-port PoE+ model has 435W of PoE with the 715W supply, 48-port full PoE and UPOE models get 800W with the 1100W supply, and the 1800W UPOE maximum needs the 1100W AC supply in both slots. EOL10903 lists no replacement for these supplies and Cisco no longer sells them, so spares come from the secondary market. Licence level matters too: a stack mixing LAN Base with IP Base or IP Services switches is not supported, so a replacement must not bring a LAN Base unit into an IP Base or IP Services stack, or the reverse.

Extend or refresh the Cisco Catalyst 3750-X?
Hardware maintenance can keep a 3750-X stack switching and powered, and for a stable, segmented part of the network with a dated replacement plan that may be enough. It does not change the software position: no Cisco security fixes since October 2019, and no vulnerability analysis since October 2021. The longer a stack stays in service, the more that gap counts against it.
Cisco's named path in EOL10623 is the Catalyst 3850, PID for PID, for example WS-C3750X-48P-S to WS-C3850-48P-S. Module replacements need care: for the C3KX-NM-1G, NM-10G and SM-10G, Cisco names 3850 modules but notes 'The replacement product part number will not work with the Catalyst 3750X and 3560X switches', and EOL10623 lists no replacement for the C3KX-NM-10GT. Cisco's support page suggests the Catalyst 9300 Series instead. Whichever you choose, check its own lifecycle first; the Catalyst 3850 end of life and Catalyst 9300 end of life pages set those out.
- EOL10623 names Catalyst 3850 PIDs as replacements (e.g. WS-C3750X-48P-S to WS-C3850-48P-S). For the C3KX-NM-1G/NM-10G network modules and C3KX-SM-10G service module it names 3850 modules but notes 'The replacement product part number will not work with the Catalyst 3750X and 3560X switches'. C3KX-NM-10GT has no replacement. (cisco.com)
- Cisco's support page shows status 'End of Support' and suggests the Catalyst 9300 Series. (cisco.com)
- Power supplies, power cords, fan modules, accessory kits and licences were ended under a separate bulletin (EOL10903), which says there is no replacement for the 3560-X/3750-X power supplies. Cisco no longer sells these parts, so spares now come from the secondary market. (cisco.com)
- A 2023 bulletin (EOL14979) titled 'Catalyst 3750-X Series Switches' covers only software and licence SKUs, with OS SW Last Date of Support 2028-09-30. Do not read it as extended hardware support. (cisco.com)

The 3750-X shares its end-of-life bulletin, EOL10623, with the Catalyst 3560-X, and its accessory bulletin, EOL10903, covers both series too. Its forward path splits between the 3850 that the bulletin names and the 9300 that Cisco's support page suggests. For the 3750-X units an estate still runs, an alternative to Cisco SmartNet is the relevant route, since Cisco no longer offers a contract for them.

Questions people ask about the Cisco Catalyst 3750-X
Is the Cisco Catalyst 3750-X end of life?
Yes. Cisco ended sale of the 3750-X on 30 October 2016, and its hardware Last Date of Support was 31 October 2021 under bulletin EOL10623. Cisco's support page lists the 3750-X with the status 'End of Support'.
When did security updates stop for the 3750-X?
End of Vulnerability/Security Support for 3750-X hardware was 30 October 2019, two years before the Last Date of Support. After the Last Date of Support on 31 October 2021, reports sent to Cisco PSIRT about the 3750-X are accepted, yet Cisco will not analyse, fix or disclose them, and it issues no CVEs for the product.
Does EOL14979 extend Catalyst 3750-X support to 2028?
Not for the hardware. EOL14979 covers only a short list of software and licence SKUs, and 30 September 2028 is the operating-software Last Date of Support for those SKUs. The bulletin does not say how it relates to hardware support, and Cisco's support page still shows End of Support on 31 October 2021.
What replaced the Catalyst 3750-X?
EOL10623 names Catalyst 3850 switches as PID-for-PID replacements, such as the WS-C3850-48P-S for the WS-C3750X-48P-S. Cisco's support page suggests the Catalyst 9300 Series.
Can I get third-party maintenance for a 3750-X stack?
A quote can be requested; third-party maintenance generally covers diagnosis, replacement parts and engineers for switches past vendor support. List each switch's PID, power supply wattage, uplink module and feature set (LAN Base, IP Base or IP Services), because a stack mixing LAN Base with IP Base or IP Services is not supported.
