PowerEdge T430 end of life

Dell does not publish an end-of-life or end-of-service-life date for the PowerEdge T430 as a model; each T430's support position depends on the warranty or contract tied to its own Service Tag. The T430 is one of the '13G and older discontinued platforms' in Dell's Windows Server matrix, a heading that carries no date, and the tower's iDRAC8 controller reached End of Software Maintenance in February 2024. One point sets it apart from the other 13G models covered here: Dell's own ESXi 7.x compatibility matrix gives no T430 support entry.

PowerEdge T430 support dates

Every row names its basis. A third-party tracker date is not the vendor’s own, and “not published” means exactly that.

Where the PowerEdge T430 stands today

For a T430, the date that matters is the one attached to its Service Tag. Find the tag and Express Service Code on the pull-out information tag at the front of the system or on the chassis sticker, then enter the tag on Dell's Check Warranty Status page to see that tower's warranty status and expiry date. Dell's warranty-extension form handles renewal requests, but renewals are not available in every country, and a T430 bought through a reseller may need renewing through that reseller.

Model-wide, there is nothing to look up. A Dell Enterprise Support Services staff member, replying in February 2025 on the Dell Community forum to a question about the R550, said Dell stopped showing EOL and EOSL dates for PowerEdge from roughly the 13th generation of servers; it is a forum answer rather than a policy document. The dated milestones on Dell's side belong to the iDRAC8 management controller: End of Sale in December 2021, Dell's 'last date to purchase a Dell OEM PowerEdge server with iDRAC firmware through Dell Technologies', and End of Software Maintenance in February 2024. The KB that sets them out names no server models, so neither is a T430 end-of-support date.

Finding the date for your own unit

Dell ties support to each unit's Service Tag, not to the model. The Service Tag and Express Service Code are on the pull-out information tag on the front of the system, or on a chassis sticker (T430 Owner's Manual: https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/poweredge-t430_owners-manual_en-us.pdf). Enter the Service Tag at https://www.dell.com/support/contractservices/ to see warranty status and expiry date. To ask about renewal, use https://www.dell.com/support/incidents-online/email/extend-warranty. Renewals are not available in all countries, and reseller-sold units may need to renew via the reseller (Dell KB 000132024: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000132024).

What still works after Dell support ends

Dell's download policy covers the T430 like any PowerEdge server: its KB says all drivers and firmware for Dell servers are free to download from the Dell Support website, with no contract required. Released iDRAC8 updates are available regardless of support contract; the final build is 2.86.86.86, and Dell has had no obligation to fix iDRAC8 firmware since February 2024. For the system BIOS, Dell's public advisory DSA-2024-006 (first published 12 March 2024) lists T430 BIOS versions before 2.19.0 as affected, with 'Version 2.19.0 or later' as the fix.

Two Dell management tools exclude the T430. The final OMSA release, dated 30 September 2024, 'only supports 14th, 15th, and 16th-Generation servers', and Dell suggests iDRAC with the iDRAC Service Module instead. The T430 also appears in the product list of Dell's KB on Dell System Update for ESXi 7.x and 8.x, a tool that does not support 13th-generation servers.

  • No support contract is needed for PowerEdge firmware. Dell: 'All drivers and firmware for Dell servers are available to download for free on the Dell Support website.' (dell.com)
  • iDRAC8: 'Released iDRAC firmware updates are available regardless of support contract.' The last iDRAC8 firmware is 2.86.86.86. Dell is not obligated to fix iDRAC8 firmware after February 2024. (dell.com)
  • Dell security advisories are public. DSA-2024-006 (first published 2024-03-12) lists PowerEdge T430 BIOS versions before 2.19.0 as affected and 'Version 2.19.0 or later' as the fix. (dell.com)

What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the PowerEdge T430

The T430's tower chassis takes up to four 3.5-inch cabled drives, eight 3.5-inch hot-swap drives or sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drives, plus up to two optional 5.25-inch tape drives; list the tape drives on the contract if they are fitted. Power comes as up to two 495 W, 750 W or 1100 W redundant AC supplies, or a single 450 W non-redundant supply, which Dell supports 'in systems with cabled hard drives and systems with an x8 backplane'. A T430 on that single supply has no PSU redundancy for a maintenance SLA to fall back on.

Memory is 12 DDR4 RDIMM sockets holding up to 384 GB with two processors, and LRDIMMs are not supported, so spare DIMMs must be RDIMMs. The six PCIe slots mix two Gen2 slots from the Platform Controller Hub with four Gen3 slots, and slots 5 and 6 need both processors. Record the iDRAC8 tier (Express or the Enterprise upgrade), any vFlash card, and whether the unit stands as a tower or has been converted to its 5U rack form. For the basics of such contracts, see what third-party maintenance covers.

Extend or refresh the PowerEdge T430?

A T430 running Windows Server in an office without a rack is a reasonable candidate to extend. Dell's matrix ticks Windows Server 2019 and 2016 (Standard and Datacenter) for it, with 2012 R2 and 2012 Qualified, and a unit with hot-swap drives and redundant supplies is the better fit for hardware break-fix support once its Dell warranty has run out; such cover generally means diagnosis, replacement parts and engineers. If it later needs to move into a rack, Dell's spec sheet says all configurations support rackable except the 3.5-inch x 4 cabled chassis.

Virtualisation is where caution is needed. The 13G table in Dell's vSphere 7.x matrix (Rev. A14, June 2024) lists the R930, R830, R730/R730xd/R630, R430/R530, FC and M-series blades and the T630, but not the T430, so check the Broadcom Compatibility Guide directly before running or planning ESXi on one. Broadcom's general support for the 7.x releases of ESXi, vCenter and vSAN ended on 2 October 2025 in any case. On the Windows side, Dell's 13G table stops short of Windows Server 2022 and 2025, with no columns for either, and the matrix requires TPM 2.0, UEFI and Secure Boot for 2022 and later. Intel lists example processors at 'End of Servicing Updates' (E5-2620 v3: 31 December 2021; E5-2620 v4: 30 June 2022); check the exact SKU on ARK. The PowerEdge T440 is the next model in the same line, and refurbished Dell PowerEdge servers are one route if the answer is refresh.

  • Windows Server: Dell's LTSC support matrix lists the T430 under '13G and older discontinued platforms'. It ticks Windows Server 2019 and 2016 (Standard/Datacenter) and Windows Server 2012 R2/2012 (Qualified). The 13G table has no Windows Server 2022 or 2025 columns. Windows Server 2022+ needs TPM 2.0, UEFI and Secure Boot per the same matrix. (dl.dell.com)
  • VMware: the 13G (yx3x) table in Dell's vSphere 7.x compatibility matrix (Rev. A14, June 2024) does not list the T430. It lists the R930, R830, R730/R730xd/R630, R430/R530, FC/M-series blades and T630. Unlike the other models in this batch, Dell's own ESXi 7.x matrix gives no T430 support entry. (dl.dell.com)
  • Broadcom ended general support for ESXi 7.x, vCenter 7.x and vSAN 7.x on 2 October 2025. (knowledge.broadcom.com)
  • Dell System Update (DSU) for ESXi 7.x/8.x does not support 13th-generation servers. The T430 is in the KB's product list. (dell.com)
  • OMSA's final release (30 September 2024) 'only supports 14th, 15th, and 16th-Generation servers', so 13G is excluded. Dell points to iDRAC plus the iDRAC Service Module instead. (dell.com)
  • Power redundancy depends on the build: the T430 Owner's Manual says the single 450 W non-redundant PSU 'is supported in systems with cabled hard drives and systems with an x8 backplane'. A unit fitted with that PSU has no PSU redundancy for a maintenance SLA to rely on. (dl.dell.com)
  • Rack conversion: Dell's T430 spec sheet says 'All configurations support rackable, except the 3.5" x 4 cabled chassis configuration'. (web.archive.org)
  • CPU microcode servicing (v3): Intel ARK lists the Xeon E5-2620 v3, an example E5-2600 v3 SKU, as 'End of Servicing Updates', dated 2021-12-31. Check the ARK page for the exact SKU installed. (intel.com)
  • CPU microcode servicing (v4): Intel ARK lists the Xeon E5-2620 v4, an example E5-2600 v4 SKU, as 'End of Servicing Updates', dated 2022-06-30. Check the ARK page for the exact SKU installed. (intel.com)
  • Intel defines the End of Servicing Updates date as the point where it 'concludes Baseline Servicing to the broad market'. Intel says Extended Servicing is 'exclusively available to customers who have an existing extended servicing agreement with Intel or who enter into such an agreement.' (intel.com)

Each bar runs from release to the milestone that marks end of support for the model as a whole. Amber bars end on a third-party tracker's date, not the vendor's. A dashed open end means no end date is published — not that support is indefinite. Component and accessory dates (a management controller, a power module) are not treated as the model's.

Questions people ask about the PowerEdge T430

Is the Dell T430 end of life?

Dell has not published an end-of-life or EOSL date that covers the PowerEdge T430 as a whole. Dell's Windows Server matrix files it among the '13G and older discontinued platforms', a heading that carries no date, and each unit's support follows its own Service Tag.

Is the T430 supported on VMware ESXi 7?

Dell's vSphere 7.x compatibility matrix (Rev. A14, June 2024) does not list the T430 in its 13G table, although it lists the T630, R630 and R430. Check the Broadcom Compatibility Guide directly for the T430. ESXi 7.x itself left Broadcom's general support on 2 October 2025.

Can I still get firmware for the T430?

Yes. Under Dell's KB, firmware and drivers for all Dell servers are free downloads on the Dell Support website, and its iDRAC KB says released iDRAC firmware updates are available regardless of support contract. DSA-2024-006 names T430 BIOS releases below 2.19.0 as affected and gives 2.19.0 or later as the remedy.

What came after the PowerEdge T430?

The PowerEdge T440 is the next model in the same line. Before moving, check that the features you rely on today, such as tape drive bays or a cabled-drive build, appear in the newer model's own documentation.

Can I get third-party maintenance for a T430?

Third-party maintenance is generally a break-fix arrangement, covering fault diagnosis, replacement parts and engineers, that can carry on after a unit's Dell warranty has run out. For a T430 the quote should note the drive build, any tape drives and whether the unit has one power supply or two. Ask for a quote with those details to hand.
