Liqid server and GPU compatibility
What Liqid has tested, and the small print

Liqid works with standard servers, but not every server, and not every GPU in every chassis. This page summarises Liqid's hardware compatibility list by vendor and pulls out the conditions on specific models: risers, BIOS versions, enclosure generations. You can see whether your estate is a fit before asking for a quote.

Host servers Liqid has tested

Each host connects through a Liqid host adapter: current Gen5 bundles use the HX-5160P-1C in a Gen5 x16 slot[src], and older listed hosts use Gen3/Gen4 adapters. Grouped by vendor from the HCL[src] and Liqid's Cisco brief[src].

Beyond the list, Liqid publishes designs built around specific server families, and the HCL flags special PRIMERGY CDI models. The designs are tested blueprints rather than one-offs.

Liqid's Cisco design lists a full bill of materials for its 30-GPU pod: eight UCS servers with Liqid Gen5 HBAs, one 16-port PCIe switch, a 16-port Director, three EX-5410P chassis, 30 software licences and 36 months of premium support[src]. Expect a quote in a similar shape.

Supply & quote

Send us your server list for a Liqid fit check

  • Send models and generations of the servers you want to pool into, and the GPUs you run or plan.
  • We check each against Liqid’s current HCL, including riser, BIOS and enclosure conditions.
  • Unlisted models get checked with Liqid before we quote, not assumed.
  • Where a host is not a fit, we quote a listed replacement alongside the Liqid hardware.

FAQs

Liqid compatibility: common questions

Which servers are on Liqid’s compatibility list?

Liqid’s hardware compatibility list (dated 17 August 2026) has 49 server entries. They include 21 Dell PowerEdge models (among them the R660, R670, R760, R6625, R7625 and MX760c), Cisco UCS C220 M7, C225 M8 and C240 M5/M7/M8, seven Fsas Technologies PRIMERGY models, HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10, Lenovo SR655 and two Supermicro systems. Liqid’s Cisco brief adds the C220 M8, C225 M7, C245 M7 and C245 M8.

My server is not on the list. Can it still work?

Possibly. For Liqid’s current Gen5 fabric the host needs a free PCIe Gen5 x16 slot for the HX-5160P-1C HBA (a half-height, half-length card) and a BIOS that supports PCIe native mode, running Linux, VMware/Nutanix or Windows Server 2012 R2 or later (no desktop Windows). Older listed hosts use Liqid’s Gen3/Gen4 adapters. That is necessary, not sufficient: Liqid tests specific models, and several listed ones need a special riser or BIOS. We check unlisted models with Liqid before quoting rather than assume.

Which GPUs can Liqid pool?

The list has 47 GPU entries: 37 NVIDIA (including H100, H100 NVL, H200 NVL, L40S, L40, L4, A100, A16 and RTX PRO 6000), 5 AMD (including Instinct MI100 and MI210), 3 Intel (Max 1100, Flex 140 and 170), Groq GC1-1019 and NextSilicon Maverick. The UltraStack MI350P system adds AMD Instinct MI350P. Cards must be PCIe, up to full-height, full-length and double-wide; Liqid’s Gen5 EX-5410P supports 600 W devices.

Which servers support Liqid CXL memory?

Four CXL hosts are listed: ASRock GNR2D16-2T, ALVRES KR2280-X3-A0-R0-00, Fsas Technologies PRIMERGY RX2530 M8 and Supermicro SYS-222C-TN11. CXL memory needs a CXL-capable platform with CXL/PCIe native mode in BIOS. See Liqid CXL memory pooling.

Do I need new servers to use Liqid?

Not necessarily. Many current Dell, Cisco and PRIMERGY rack servers are listed, so pooling can start with hosts you already own plus an HBA in each. If a host is too old or not listed, we can quote a listed replacement with it. Our PowerEdge R760 and R7625 data sheets cover two of the hosts Liqid used in its UltraStack reference design.

How current is this list?

This page summarises the HCL revision dated 17 August 2026. Liqid updates it as models are tested, so we check the current revision for every quote.
