Where the Juniper EX4300 stands today
Juniper's own historical milestone table covers the 24P, 24T, 48P and 48T, including -S, -TAA, -AFI and -DC variants: EOL announced 24 June 2022, Last Order 31 March 2024, last date to convert warranty 31 March 2025, and End of Support, along with the end of Same Day and Next Day support, on 31 March 2029. The 32F followed under TSB105633, with announcement and Last Order on the same day, 31 March 2026, End of Hardware Failure Analysis and End of Engineering on 31 March 2027, and End of Support on 31 March 2029. TSB109284, announced 29 June 2026, covers the 48MP, -48MP-S and -48MP-TAA plus the EX-UM-2QSFP-MR and EX-UM-4SFPP-MR modules and the JPSU-1400-AC-AFO; for the 48MP switch Juniper publishes Last Order on 29 December 2026, End of Hardware Failure Analysis on 29 December 2027, End of Engineering on 29 December 2029 and End of Support on 29 December 2031.
Software dates follow the SKU too. Footnote 12 on Juniper's Junos OS Dates & Milestones page extends Junos 21.4 End of Engineering to 31 March 2027 and End of Support to 31 March 2029 for the EX4300-P/T, and 21.4 is the 32F's Last Software Version. A standalone 48MP has Junos 25.4 as its Last Software Version, but in a mixed Virtual Chassis with other EX4300 models it follows the 21.4 dates. For the P/T models, the Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty's five-year limit after a discontinuance announcement, taking the 24 June 2022 EOL announcement as that announcement, points by derivation to 24 June 2027, a date Juniper does not publish. To check a unit, match its exact SKU on the milestones page, where P/T models sit in the lower historical table; per-unit warranty or contract status is in the Serial Number Entitlement tool, behind a Juniper login.
Dates apply model-wide by SKU. Find your exact SKU (for example EX4300-48P, EX4300-48T-AFI, EX4300-32F or EX4300-48MP) on Juniper's EX Series Hardware Dates & Milestones page: https://support.juniper.net/support/eol/product/ex_series/ . The P/T models are in the lower 'historical' table. For software dates, see footnote 12 for Junos 21.4 on Junos OS Dates & Milestones (https://support.juniper.net/support/eol/software/junos/). Per-unit warranty or contract status comes from Juniper's Serial Number Entitlement tool (https://supportportal.juniper.net/s/serial-number-entitlement), which needs a Juniper login.
What still works after Juniper Networks (an HPE company) support ends
Juniper makes software available on two terms. Juniper Care includes software releases as a deliverable, and like every deliverable they depend on all connected Junos devices being under an active contract. Under the Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty, the original end-user purchaser receives software updates while the warranty runs, within Juniper's EOL/End of Support guidelines, and no warranty survives a group's published End of Support date.
Contract options depend on the group. The 48MP can still take a new Juniper Care contract until its Last Order on 29 December 2026. For the P/T and 32F, Last Order has passed, so Juniper sells no new contracts; a renewal is allowed only if it starts the day the current term expires, contract levels cannot be upgraded, and a lapsed contract cannot be reinstated.
- Juniper lists software releases as a Juniper Care service-contract deliverable. Its service description says all deliverables need an active support contract on all connected Junos devices. (support.juniper.net)
- For EX4300-P/T, and for an EX4300-48MP in a mixed Virtual Chassis with other EX4300 models, Juniper extended Junos 21.4 End of Engineering to 2027-03-31 and End of Support to 2029-03-31. A standalone (non-VC) EX4300-48MP has Junos 25.4 as its Last Software Version (TSB109284). (support.juniper.net)
- Under the EX Series Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty, software updates go to the original end-user purchaser during the warranty period, subject to EOL/End of Support guidelines. No warranty applies after the published End of Support date. (support.juniper.net)
Vendor support you can still buy
- Juniper Care: new contracts (EX4300-48MP until 2026-12-29) or contiguous renewal (P/T and 32F) — After Last Order, Juniper sells no new contracts but allows renewals that start the day the current term expires. There are no upgrades and no reinstatement after a lapse. (support.juniper.net)
What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the Juniper EX4300
Juniper describes the EX4300 as a modular single-rack-unit switch, and that modularity is what a maintenance contract has to map. Each chassis takes dual redundant, load-sharing, hot-swap PSUs (350 W, 715 W or 1100 W AC on most models; 715 W, 1100 W or 1400 W AC on the 48MP; 550 W DC) and two hot-swap fan modules. The -S SKUs ship without PSUs or fans, so record the fitted wattage per unit where PoE matters: up to 720 W on 24-port models, 1440 W on the 48P and 1700 W on the 48MP with two 1400 W supplies, with none on the 32F. Juniper says every 48MP network port is PoE-equipped, at up to 95 W.
Uplinks vary by group. The copper models have four rear 40GbE QSFP+ ports, Virtual Chassis ports by default, plus a slot for an optional EX-UM-4X4SFP module with four 1/10GbE SFP+ ports. The 32F (32 gigabit SFP, four 10GbE SFP+, two 40GbE QSFP+) takes an optional EX-UM-2QSFP or EX-UM-8X8SFP module, and the 48MP pairs 24 gigabit and 24 multigigabit ports up to 10GBASE-T with four built-in QSFP+ VC ports and an optional -MR module. Virtual Chassis stacks reach ten switches. Juniper's warranty covers only FRUs in the original purchase and default configuration, with fans and PSUs limited to five years, so list any module added after the original purchase separately when arranging cover.

Extend or refresh the Juniper EX4300?
Keeping copper EX4300s to 2029 on maintenance is a defensible plan for networks whose configuration is settled, provided the Juniper Care renewal stays contiguous or the hardware moves to network third-party maintenance. The PSUs and fan modules are hot-swappable, and third-party cover can continue after 31 March 2029. The 48MP, still open to new contracts until 29 December 2026, has the longest runway of the three groups.
The argument for refresh is software. After 31 March 2027, Juniper commits no further Junos 21.4 fixes for copper EX4300s, although 21.4 support, covering TAC and existing releases, runs to 31 March 2029; a 48MP in a mixed Virtual Chassis follows the same 21.4 dates, and the 32F reaches its own End of Engineering on 31 March 2027. Second-hand units bought outside Juniper's Certified Pre-Owned (JCPO) programme carry no Juniper warranty, and JCPO units sold after Last Order receive 12 months of warranty, or cover to End of Support if that is sooner. Juniper's EX4300 notices are readable only after sign-in, which is why the Juniper EX4400 appears here as an inference: it is the next model in the same line.
- For copper EX4300 (24P/24T/48P/48T), Juniper's extended Junos 21.4 End of Engineering is 2027-03-31; after that no further fixes are committed. Junos 21.4 support (TAC, existing releases) runs to 2029-03-31, which is also the hardware End of Support. Anyone extending past 2027 should plan on running frozen code. (support.juniper.net)
- EX4300 lifecycle dates differ by SKU group (P/T vs 32F vs 48MP), so check the exact SKU. Only the 48MP is still orderable, until 2026-12-29. (support.juniper.net)
- Last Order has passed for EX4300 P/T (2024-03-31) and 32F (2026-03-31). Under Juniper Care terms, no new support contracts are sold after Last Order. Renewals are allowed only when they start on the day the current contract expires; contract levels cannot be upgraded, and a lapsed contract cannot be reinstated. For the 48MP, new contracts can be bought until 2026-12-29. (support.juniper.net)
- The Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty applies only to the original end-user purchaser, and only to FRUs in the original purchase and default configuration. Fans and PSUs are limited to 5 years. Juniper Certified Pre-Owned units sold after Last Order get 12 months (or until End of Support, if earlier). Second-hand EX4300s bought outside that programme carry no Juniper warranty. Juniper's other access lines with pages here are covered at Juniper EX2300 end of life and Juniper EX3400 end of life. Because Juniper dates EX4300 milestones by SKU group, a campus mixing EX lines needs each switch matched to its own SKU rather than one EX date applied throughout. Numbering places the EX4200 before the EX4300, but no Juniper statement tying the two together was found.

Questions people ask about the Juniper EX4300
Is the Juniper EX4300 end of life?
Yes. Juniper has announced EOL for every EX4300 chassis group, but none has reached End of Support. Juniper publishes 31 March 2029 for the copper P/T models and the 32F, and 29 December 2031 for the EX4300-48MP, which can still be ordered until 29 December 2026.
When does Juniper stop supporting the EX4300-48P?
The EX4300-48P is one of the P/T SKUs, for which Juniper's published End of Support is 31 March 2029, the same date Same Day and Next Day support is discontinued. Juniper's extended End of Engineering for Junos 21.4 on these models is 31 March 2027.
Which Junos release dates apply to the EX4300?
For the EX4300-P/T, Juniper has extended Junos 21.4 to an End of Engineering of 31 March 2027 and End of Support of 31 March 2029. The 32F's Last Software Version is Junos 21.4. A standalone 48MP has Junos 25.4 as its Last Software Version, while a 48MP in a mixed Virtual Chassis with other EX4300 models follows the 21.4 dates.
Can I still buy a Juniper support contract for an EX4300?
Only the EX4300-48MP can take a new Juniper Care contract, until 29 December 2026. For the P/T and 32F models, Last Order has passed, so only contiguous renewals starting the day the current term ends are possible, with no upgrades and no reinstatement after a lapse.
Can I get third-party maintenance for an EX4300?
An independent maintenance contract is one option for EX4300 hardware; such contracts typically cover fault diagnosis, engineer visits and replacement parts, and can carry on after Juniper's End of Support dates. What third-party maintenance covers sets out the typical scope, and the maintenance coverage builder lets you request a quote for your switches and modules.
