| NetApp End of Availability (EOA) / End of Support (EOS): vendor record, sign-in required | — | Not published by the vendorNetApp records EOA/EOS per platform in Hardware Universe and Product Communiqué EOA notices, but only for signed-in NetApp Support Site users. Re-checked 2026-10-08: the HWU API returned 401 'requiresLogin' and the EOA notice data service returned a 302 to sign-in. NetApp's own FAS2720/FAS2750 dates are not reproduced here. | NetApp KB: How to check End of Support and End of Availability for NetApp products |
| End of Life | 12 August 2024 | Third-party trackerThird-party tracker, not NetApp's date. It covers the FAS2720 only: Park Place's EOSL sitemaps (re-checked 2026-10-08) list fas-2620, fas-2650, fas2720c, fas-8200 and aff-a300 but no FAS2750 entry, so this date should not be assumed for the FAS2750. | Park Place Technologies EOSL library: NetApp FAS2720 ('Fas2720 12-Slot Filer System') |
| End of Service Life | 30 September 2029 | Third-party trackerThird-party tracker, FAS2720 only. This is not NetApp's own published EOS date. | Park Place Technologies EOSL library: NetApp FAS2720 ('Fas2720 12-Slot Filer System') |
| End of Support | — | Third-party trackereosl.date lists the FAS2720 and FAS2750 under 'Currently Supported NetApp FAS Products' with no End of Support date. This conflicts with Park Place's FAS2720 End of Life entry. Treat both as unconfirmed trackers. | eosl.date: NetApp FAS End of Life (EOL) Dates and End of Service Life (EOSL) Dates |
Where the FAS2720 / FAS2750 stands today
The two FAS2700 models have to be read separately. For the FAS2720, Park Place lists an End of Life of 12 August 2024 and an End of Service Life of 30 September 2029, just under three years from now. Park Place has no FAS2750 entry, so neither date should be carried across to the FAS2750, and eosl.date offers no end-of-support date for either model. Because one tracker gives the FAS2720 an end-of-life date while the other still calls it currently supported, treat both as unconfirmed. NetApp records EOA and EOS information per platform in Hardware Universe and the Product Communiqué EOA notices, but shows it only to signed-in users.
The answer for your own system therefore comes from NetApp after login. Those two sources are the ones NetApp's EOS and EOA KB names for platform dates, and the contract and warranty record for a unit is found by entering its serial number under SYSTEMS > Contracts and Warranties. It is also worth confirming which network build you have: NetApp says the FAS27xx series is 'ordered with a choice of mezzanine modules', and its KB explains how to tell the RJ45 version from the CNA version.
NetApp shows platform EOA/EOS dates only to signed-in users. NetApp KB 'How to check End of Support and End of Availability for NetApp products' (https://kb.netapp.com/on-prem/ontap/OHW/OHW-KBs/How_to_check_End_of_Support_and_End_of_Availability_for_NetApp_products) says they can be viewed in Hardware Universe (https://hwu.netapp.com) or in the NetApp Support Site Product Communiqué EOA notices (https://mysupport.netapp.com/info/eoa/index.html). Both need a NetApp Support Site login. Your own unit's support contract and warranty go by serial number. Per NetApp KB 'How to check Service Contract and Warranty information on NetApp Support Site' (https://kb.netapp.com/nss/Support_Site/How_to_check_Service_Contract_and_Warranty_information_on_NetApp_Support_Site), log in to the NetApp Support Site, open SYSTEMS > Contracts and Warranties, and search by the system's serial number.
What still works after NetApp support ends
With no public NetApp EOS date for either model, what follows is NetApp's general policy rather than a deadline. While a system remains in support, the OEM route is contract renewal, priced from current entitlements by a NetApp sales representative or authorised partner; there is no public price list. Once a system reaches EOS, NetApp's KB makes it ineligible for case submittal, technical support assistance, AutoSupport notifications and parts replacement. Downloads are limited throughout to software your company has purchased.
ONTAP releases follow their own support clock. NetApp gives each one three years of full support, then two years of limited support in which P-releases and vulnerability alerts stop, then three years of self-service documentation, and after limited support ends NetApp no longer offers that version for download.
- NetApp says EOS systems are not eligible for case submittal, technical support assistance, AutoSupport notifications or parts replacement. (kb.netapp.com)
- NetApp software downloads are entitlement-gated: 'Customers can only download software purchased by their company.' (kb.netapp.com)
- NetApp: 'ONTAP versions that are no longer under limited support do not have available software to download.' (kb.netapp.com)
- ONTAP release support levels. Full support, years 1-3: technical support, root-cause analysis, downloads, patch (P) releases and vulnerability alerts. Limited support, years 4-5: technical support, root-cause analysis and downloads only. Self-service, years 6-8: online documentation only. (docs.netapp.com)
Vendor support you can still buy
- NetApp support contract renewal — NetApp's KB says to contact a NetApp sales representative or authorised NetApp partner for the exact renewal price, quoted from current entitlements. No public price list. (kb.netapp.com)
What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the FAS2720 / FAS2750
NetApp's public key specs describe the FAS2750 as a 2U chassis with two HA controllers, 24 drive slots, 64 GB of memory per HA pair and an Ethernet-based baseboard management controller (BMC). On the UTA2 HA pair, onboard I/O is listed as 12x 10GbE, 8x 16Gb FC and 4x 12Gb SAS, plus 2x 1GbE management; because each UTA2 pair (0c/0d, 0e/0f) is set as either CNA (10GbE) or FC, the Ethernet and FC counts overlap rather than add up. The Ethernet build instead uses RJ45 ports e0c to e0f on Cat 6. Both builds use e0a/e0b for the cluster interconnect and e0M for management, so confirm which variant is fitted before sourcing spare controllers or cables. The key-spec page does not cover the FAS2720.
Each FAS2750 power supply is rated at 913 W. The supplies are redundant and can be swapped hot with no controller shutdown, but each PSU also carries the cooling, so a removed unit has to be back within two minutes; beyond that, every controller module in the chassis shuts down. NetApp lists the FAS2750 at 2.6832 PB maximum raw capacity per HA pair, scaling out to 12 HA pairs for NAS or 6 for SAN, and every added pair lengthens the parts list. Storage and SAN maintenance and NetApp third-party maintenance describe how cover for arrays like this is arranged.
| Specification | Detail | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Form factor (FAS2750) | 2U chassis with 2 HA controllers and 24 drive slots | docs.netapp.com |
| Memory (FAS2750, per HA pair) | 64 GB | docs.netapp.com |
| Onboard I/O (FAS2750 UTA2 HA pair) | NetApp's key specs list 12x 10GbE, 8x 16Gb FC and 4x 12Gb SAS onboard ports, plus 2x 1GbE management ports. The UTA2 data ports are set as either 10GbE/CNA or FC (see network variants), so the Ethernet and FC counts overlap and are not additive. | docs.netapp.com |
| Network variants (FAS2700 series) | Unified configuration: UTA2 data ports, with each pair (0c/0d, 0e/0f) set as CNA (10GbE) or FC. Ethernet configuration: RJ45 ports e0c-e0f, cabled with Cat 6. Cluster interconnect is on e0a/e0b and management on e0M. | docs.netapp.com |
| Management controller (FAS2750) | Ethernet-based baseboard management controller (BMC) | docs.netapp.com |
| Power supply rating (FAS2750) | 913 W per PSU | kb.netapp.com |
| Power supply redundancy | Redundant and hot-swappable, and no controller shutdown is needed to replace a PSU. Cooling is built into the PSU, so a removed unit must be replaced within two minutes. A longer delay shuts down all controller modules in the chassis. | docs.netapp.com |
| Capacity / scale (FAS2750) | Max raw capacity 2.6832 PB per HA pair; scale-out to 12 HA pairs (NAS) or 6 HA pairs (SAN) | docs.netapp.com |
Extend or refresh the FAS2720 / FAS2750?
No source checked gives a NetApp end-of-support deadline for a FAS2720 or FAS2750; among the sources checked, the only end-of-service-life date is Park Place's 30 September 2029, a tracker date that covers the FAS2720 alone, and NetApp's own EOS date should be checked after sign-in. NetApp's KB carries impact assessments for 2026 CVEs on these platforms: CVE-2026-31431, CVE-2026-46300 and CVE-2026-42945, for example, are listed as 'Products Not Affected' for the FAS/AFF BMC on the FAS2720 and FAS2750 and for ONTAP 9. A NetApp renewal, or an alternative to NetApp SupportEdge, is a reasonable plan for a stable workload. If a third-party-maintained system may later go back to NetApp, bear in mind that work done without a prior agreement by anyone other than NetApp or an authorised NetApp service representative can lead NetApp to decline support even under a valid entitlement.
On current ONTAP, two NetApp KBs report memory warnings worth weighing in any refresh plan. One covers low-memory risk warnings, with WAFL low-memory events, on the FAS2750 after upgrading to ONTAP 9.18.1P4, and applies to ONTAP 9.16.x and later. Another reports frequent 'very low memory' events on the FAS2720 after ONTAP 9.16.1P11 that persist despite no observed performance impact or node panics; its resolution is sign-in only. Where those warnings or growth argue for new controllers, the next model in the same line is the FAS2820 (FAS2800 series), and NetApp documents an in-chassis upgrade from the FAS2720 to the FAS2820 on ONTAP 9.13.1 and later that keeps the chassis, disks and data.
- NetApp KB: ONTAP reports a low-memory risk warning (with WAFL low-memory events) on the FAS2750 after upgrading to ONTAP 9.18.1P4. The KB applies to ONTAP 9.16.x and later. Factor this into any plan to keep the FAS2750 on current ONTAP. (kb.netapp.com)
- NetApp KB: frequent 'very low memory' events are reported on the FAS2720 after upgrading to ONTAP 9.16.1P11. They persist despite no observed performance impact or node panics. The resolution is sign-in only. (kb.netapp.com)
- The FAS2720 can be upgraded in-chassis to a FAS2820, keeping the chassis, disks and data, on ONTAP 9.13.1 and later. (docs.netapp.com)
- NetApp says the FAS27xx series (and the AFF A220/C190) are 'ordered with a choice of mezzanine modules', and its KB explains how to identify the RJ45 and CNA versions. Confirm which variant is installed before stocking spare controllers or cables. (kb.netapp.com)
- NetApp's KB carries impact assessments for 2026 CVEs on these platforms. For example, CVE-2026-31431, CVE-2026-46300 and CVE-2026-42945 are listed as 'Products Not Affected' for the FAS/AFF BMC on the C190/A150/A220/FAS2720/FAS2750 and for ONTAP 9. (kb.netapp.com)
- NetApp may decline support even with a valid entitlement if services were performed by a person or entity other than NetApp or an authorised NetApp service representative without a prior agreement with NetApp. (kb.netapp.com)
Keep your FAS2720 / FAS2750 covered
Tell us how many you run and when your current cover ends, and we will come back with a like-for-like maintenance quote for that estate. Your model and its support status are attached to the enquiry automatically, so there is nothing to re-type.
Related models
The FAS2720 and FAS2750 followed the FAS2600 series, and NetApp's KB covers in-chassis head swaps from the FAS2620 to the FAS2720 and from the FAS2650 to the FAS2750. That makes the FAS2650 end of life page relevant to mixed estates or upgrades still in progress. NetApp's 2026 CVE KB also groups the FAS2720 and FAS2750 BMC with the C190, A150 and A220.

Questions people ask about the FAS2720 / FAS2750
Is the FAS2720 end of life?
Park Place Technologies' third-party EOSL library lists a FAS2720 End of Life of 12 August 2024 and an End of Service Life of 30 September 2029. Another tracker, eosl.date, still lists the FAS2720 as currently supported with no end-of-support date. Neither is NetApp's own date, which is visible only after signing in to the NetApp Support Site.
When does NetApp stop supporting the FAS2750?
None of the sources checked gives a date. NetApp records platform EOA and EOS dates in Hardware Universe and Product Communiqué EOA notices, both behind a Support Site login; Park Place has no FAS2750 entry, and eosl.date lists it as currently supported without an end date. Check your own system's contract by serial number on the NetApp Support Site.
Should I upgrade a FAS2750 to ONTAP 9.18.1?
Read NetApp's KB first: it reports low-memory risk warnings and WAFL low-memory events on the FAS2750 after upgrading to ONTAP 9.18.1P4, and it applies to ONTAP 9.16.x and later. Factor it into any plan to keep the FAS2750 on current ONTAP.
What came after the FAS2720?
The FAS2820 in the FAS2800 series is the next model in the same line. NetApp documents an in-chassis upgrade from the FAS2720 to the FAS2820 on ONTAP 9.13.1 and later, keeping the chassis, disks and data.
Can I get third-party maintenance for a FAS2720 or FAS2750?
Yes, in general: third-party maintainers typically handle fault diagnosis, spare parts and engineers, including once vendor support has ended, and a quote can be requested through the maintenance coverage builder. Say whether your system has the RJ45 or the CNA mezzanine, as NetApp says the FAS27xx is ordered with a choice of mezzanine modules.
