What SupportEdge is — and where an independent alternative fits
NetApp SupportEdge is NetApp's own support programme, sold in tiers — SupportEdge Standard, Premium, Advisor and Expert — bundling hardware cover, software entitlement and TAC access. It's comprehensive, but priced at OEM list, renewed annually, and it winds down once a FAS, AFF or E-Series platform reaches NetApp's published end-of-support. After that, renewal gets expensive or simply stops.
Servnet replaces the hardware half: break-fix engineering, spare parts and on-site response for your NetApp arrays, including kit NetApp has retired. We are not NetApp and we do not resell SupportEdge. The honest caveat — ONTAP and Element software updates, firmware and security patches need a live NetApp software entitlement, which we cannot supply. If patching is a compliance requirement, we'll say so.

Those stay with NetApp. ONTAP and Element software updates, firmware releases and security patches require a live NetApp software entitlement, which is separate from hardware support and which a third party cannot supply. Servnet covers the physical hardware — controllers, shelves, drives, on-site engineering. If your environment needs ongoing patching for compliance, keep the software entitlement and let us take the hardware line.
Yes — that's the common reason customers move to us. Once a FAS, AFF, ASA or E-Series platform passes NetApp's published end-of-support, OEM renewal becomes costly or unavailable. Providers report keeping healthy arrays in service for a further 3–5 years, sometimes up to 7, with held spares and break-fix cover. It's an indicative range that depends on parts availability and the platform's condition — we'll assess yours honestly.
