What ProSupport is — and where an independent maintainer fits

Dell ProSupport is Dell's own hardware support programme, offered in tiers: Basic Hardware Service, ProSupport, and ProSupport Plus (which adds predictive analytics via SupportAssist). It is sold at Dell's list prices and is scoped to each unit's service tag — cover generally winds down as a given system reaches the end of its support life, and renewal costs tend to climb as kit ages.

Servnet replaces the hardware maintenance layer: diagnosis, replacement parts, on-site engineers and SLAs — often on kit Dell no longer wants to cover. We are direct about the limit: we do not supply Dell's software or firmware updates, BIOS/security patches, or SupportAssist entitlements. Those remain with your Dell agreement. If you need current OEM code, keep that entitlement and let us take the hardware.

Is this the same as Dell ProSupport?

No, and we don't pretend it is. Servnet is an independent third-party maintainer. We deliver the hardware side — fault diagnosis, replacement parts, on-site engineers and SLAs — as an alternative to Dell ProSupport, Basic Hardware Service or ProSupport Plus. Dell's software, firmware and SupportAssist entitlements are separate and stay with Dell. We're clear about that split so you can make an informed decision.

How much can we actually save?

Industry analysis (Gartner's Market Guide for Data Center and Network Third-Party Hardware Maintenance, 2019) puts third-party maintenance at 50–70% off OEM support net prices. We quote conservatively and per estate — your actual figure depends on models, age, SLA and site count. Treat any headline percentage as indicative until we've priced your specific Dell kit.

Can you cover Dell hardware that's past end-of-support?

Yes — this is a core reason customers move to us. Dell ties support to each unit's service tag rather than publishing a single model-wide EOSL, and cover typically winds down as kit ages. We can maintain hardware after that point; providers commonly report extending usable life by 3–5, and sometimes up to 7, years. That figure is indicative and depends on parts availability for your models.

What about firmware and security patches?

Those stay with Dell. Third-party maintenance covers physical hardware — break-fix, spares and on-site work — not the OEM's software updates, firmware releases, BIOS revisions or security patches. If your systems need current Dell code or SupportAssist, keep that entitlement with Dell and let Servnet handle the hardware maintenance. We'll never claim to supply OEM software we can't legitimately provide.
