Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX2530 M8
Full M8 compute and memory in a single rack unit

The RX2530 M8 is the 1U partner to the RX2540 M8. It keeps all but one of its processors and the same 8 TB memory ceiling and gives up drive bays, slots and GPU room to halve the height. For virtualisation and compute nodes that keep storage elsewhere, that is usually the right trade.

Overview

PRIMERGY RX2530 M8 at a glance

The Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX2530 M8 is Fsas Technologies' 1U dual-socket server for Intel Xeon 6500P and 6700P processors, with 32 DDR5 DIMM slots and up to 8 TB of memory[src].

Against the 2U RX2540 M8 it keeps 25 of the 26 processors (not the 6728P) and the memory, and trims everything that needs height[src][src]. Fsas reports a SPECspeed2017_fp_base result of 448 for the RX2530 M8, which it calls the best in the world for a system with this processor generation as of 15 October 2025; that is a benchmark claim, not a sizing figure[src].

From the two M8 datasheets. Same platform, same memory ceiling; the RX2530 M8 gives up bays, slots, GPU options and acoustic headroom for its 1U height.
Density

What 4U of rack holds

Halving the height doubles the compute per rack unit. The trade is drive bays: four RX2530 M8s have fewer front bays between them than two RX2540 M8s[src][src].
Four RX2530 M8 against two RX2540 M8 in 4URack density is rarely the limit; power and cooling per rack usually arrive first.4 × RX2530 M8688 cores · 32 TB · 40 front baysRX2530 M8 #1 · 172 cores · 8 TBRX2530 M8 #2 · 172 cores · 8 TBRX2530 M8 #3 · 172 cores · 8 TBRX2530 M8 #4 · 172 cores · 8 TB4U of 4U2 × RX2540 M8344 cores · 16 TB · 48 front baysRX2540 M8 #1 · 172 cores · 8 TB24 × 2.5-inch front baysRX2540 M8 #2 · 172 cores · 8 TB24 × 2.5-inch front bays4U of 4URack density is rarely the limit; power and cooling per rack usually arrive first.
Our arithmetic from the two datasheets: four 1U RX2530 M8s against two 2U RX2540 M8s, each with two 86-core processors, 8 TB of memory and the largest front base unit.

Power is the other side of density: the RX2530 M8's maximum configuration draws 2,894 W, so four of them can exceed what many racks are provisioned for[src]. Rack space and power planner →

Acoustics: a data centre server

Fsas publishes sound pressure for typical and maximum configurations[src][src]. The 1U fans run faster at the top end.

FAQs

PRIMERGY RX2530 M8: common questions

What is the difference between the RX2530 M8 and the RX2540 M8?

Height and expansion. Both take one or two Xeon 6 processors and up to 8 TB in 32 DIMMs. The 1U RX2530 M8 has up to 10 front 2.5-inch bays, three external PCIe 5.0 low-profile slots and the NVIDIA L4 as its GPU option; the 2U RX2540 M8 has up to 24 front bays, eight PCIe 5.0 slots and up to six single-width or two double-width GPUs.

Which processors does the RX2530 M8 support?

The same Xeon 6500P and 6700P families as the RX2540 M8: the datasheet lists 25 models from 8 to 86 cores. The one RX2540 M8 option it does not list is the 24-core Xeon 6728P.

Can the RX2530 M8 take NVMe drives?

Yes. The datasheet’s drive-bay table lists NVMe on the 10 × 2.5-inch SAS/SATA/PCIe base unit; the 4 × 3.5-inch unit is SAS/SATA only, and we confirm 8-bay NVMe options when we quote. Two hot-plug PCIe M.2 modules are optional for the operating system.

Does the RX2530 M8 support GPUs?

The datasheet lists the NVIDIA L4, a single-width, low-profile card. For larger GPUs, the 2U RX2540 M8 or the GX GPU servers are the right platforms.

How loud is the RX2530 M8?

Fsas quotes 38 dB(A) idle and 45 dB(A) operating sound pressure for a typical configuration, rising to 56 and 62 dB(A) at maximum configuration. That is a data centre server, not one for an office.

What warranty does the RX2530 M8 have?

A 3-year onsite manufacturer warranty and a service lifecycle of at least 5 years after shipment, according to the datasheet. Fsas Support Packs extend or upgrade cover and must be activated within 30 days of purchase.
