PRIMERGY RX2540 M8 at a glance
Fsas pitches the PRIMERGY RX2540 M8 as its data centre standard, with a 40% performance improvement over the previous generation, which is its own claim[src][src]. The configurable parts are the usual ones: 32 DDR5 slots, a choice of five front drive base units, eight PCIe 5.0 slots, OCP 3.0 networking, and iRMC S6 for out-of-band management[src]. M8 systems went on sale in Europe on 15 October 2025[src].
How the 8 TB is reached
Memory protection includes ECC, scrubbing, SDDC, ADDDC and mirroring[src]. CXL 2.0 is supported by the platform, per Fsas[src].

PRIMERGY RX2540 M8: common questions
What processors does the PRIMERGY RX2540 M8 take?
One or two Intel Xeon 6 processors with P-cores from the 6500P and 6700P series. The datasheet lists 26 models, from the 8-core 6503P to the 86-core 6787P, with no mixing of processor types. A single processor halves the memory slots and leaves the CPU2 slots unavailable.
How much memory does the RX2540 M8 support?
Up to 8 TB across 32 DIMM slots, 16 per processor on eight channels with two slots each. Fsas lists DDR5 RDIMMs at 6,400 MT/s from 16 GB to 256 GB, and MRDIMMs at 8,000 MT/s. With 256 GB modules in all 32 slots you reach the 8 TB maximum.
How many drives does the RX2540 M8 hold?
It depends on the base unit chosen at order: 8, 16 or 24 × 2.5-inch, or 12 × 3.5-inch at the front, with an optional 6 × 2.5-inch rear cage. The 24-bay unit comes in a SAS/SATA version and a SAS/SATA/PCIe (NVMe) version. The drive cage comes with the base unit you order, so choose it for the drives you expect to need.
Does the RX2540 M8 support GPUs?
Yes. Fsas says it takes up to two double-width or six single-width GPUs, depending on the card and base unit. The datasheet lists NVIDIA L4, A16, RTX PRO 4000 Blackwell, RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition and H200 NVL. Double-width GPUs use dedicated full-length x16 slots, one per processor.
Which power supplies are available in the UK?
Titanium-rated hot-plug supplies of 900 W, 1,600 W and 2,400 W, one or two per server. Fsas’s datasheet says the Platinum-rated versions are only available in APAC and Japan. The datasheet’s maximum configuration draws 4,584 W, so heavily loaded builds need to be sized against both supplies.
What warranty does the RX2540 M8 have?
A 3-year onsite manufacturer warranty, per the datasheet, with a service lifecycle of at least 5 years after shipment. Fsas Support Packs can extend or upgrade the cover; they must be activated within 30 days of purchase.
