Where the PowerEdge R7515 stands today
Both model-wide milestones are unpublished for the R7515. Dell's hardware EOSL workbook, attached to KB 000185734 and current to 2 October 2026, has no row for it, and no Dell end-of-sale notice was found. Read that as the absence of a Dell date, not as a sign that support has stopped or that it will run on indefinitely: Dell ties the cut-off to each machine's warranty or contract instead of to the model.
To find a particular R7515's date, read the Service Tag from the slide-out information tag on the front of the chassis, the location given in Dell's R7515 Installation and Service Manual. Entering that tag on Dell's contract services page returns the unit's warranty status and expiration date, the method described in Dell KB 000132024. Keep the record per tag, not per model.
Dell publishes no model-wide end-of-support date for PowerEdge servers; coverage ends per unit. Read the Service Tag from the slide-out information tag on the front of the server (Dell R7515 Installation and Service Manual: https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/poweredge-r7515_owners-manual_en-us.pdf). Enter it at https://www.dell.com/support/contractservices/ to see that unit's warranty status and expiration date (Dell KB 000132024: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000132024).
What still works after Dell support ends
Free download is the rule Dell states for all Dell server drivers and firmware in KB 000128194 (last modified 31 August 2026), with the BIOS counted as firmware and no warranty or contract condition given. For the R7515, the Drivers & Downloads page lists BIOS 2.25.1, a Recommended release dated 30 September 2026 and named for both the R6515 and R7515, alongside iDRAC 7.30.30.54, rated Urgent and dated 21 August 2026. Take build numbers from that page rather than from Dell's iDRAC9 versions table (see the FAQ below).
For the hardware itself, Dell offers warranty renewal per Service Tag. Renewal covers repairs or replacement parts for Dell-branded hardware, but in Dell's words 'Warranty Renewals are not available in all countries', and where an R7515 came from a reseller, renewal may have to run through that reseller. Where renewal is not offered, a third-party contract, such as an alternative to Dell ProSupport, generally covers diagnosis, parts and engineer visits.
- Dell KB 000128194 (last modified 31 Aug 2026) says: 'All drivers and firmware for Dell servers are available to download for free on the Dell Support website.' The KB defines firmware as including the BIOS. It states no warranty or contract condition. (dell.com)
- Dell is still releasing firmware for the R7515. Its Drivers & Downloads page lists 'Dell Server PowerEdge BIOS R6515/R7515 Version 2.25.1' (Recommended, 30 Sep 2026) and 'iDRAC 7.30.30.54' (Urgent, 21 Aug 2026). (dell.com)
- Dell's iDRAC9 Version 7.20.80.50 release notes (Rev. A00, December 2025) list the PowerEdge R7515 among the supported '15th Generation of PowerEdge Servers'. (dl.dell.com)
Vendor support you can still buy
- Dell warranty renewal (per Service Tag, where offered) — Dell: 'Dell warranties can be renewed to cover Dell-branded hardware repairs or replacement parts.' 'Warranty Renewals are not available in all countries.' Units bought through a reseller may need renewing through that reseller. (dell.com)
What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the PowerEdge R7515
Drive configuration is the first thing an R7515 maintenance schedule has to capture. Dell lists up to twelve 3.5-inch SAS/SATA bays at the front with two more 3.5-inch bays at the rear, or up to twenty-four 2.5-inch front bays as SAS/SATA, a SAS/SATA and NVMe mix, or twenty-four NVMe, with front NVMe at PCIe Gen3. Record which controller each unit uses, whether a PERC (H740P, H730P, H330, or the external H840), an HBA330 or HBA355e, S150 software RAID or a BOSS-S1 (2 x M.2), and count the rear bays and any BOSS-S1 M.2 drives as well as the front cage.
Power supplies come in several input types for this chassis: 495 W AC Platinum; 750 W AC in Platinum or Titanium, and 750 W HVDC; 1100 W AC Platinum, 1100 W HVDC and 1100 W -48 to -60 V DC; and 1600 W AC Platinum. On 100-120 V low line Dell derates the 1600 W AC unit to 800 W and the 1100 W AC unit to 1050 W, so a replacement has to match both the feed and the wattage the build was sized for. Add the 16 DIMM slots (up to 2 TB at up to 3200 MT/s) and the iDRAC9 controller with Lifecycle Controller and its dedicated port to the schedule, and request a quote via the maintenance coverage builder.

Extend or refresh the PowerEdge R7515?
The case for keeping an R7515 after its warranty rests on three checks: current firmware, an operating system on Dell's supported list for the model, and hardware that still fits the workload. Entries on Dell's list include Windows Server 2016 with the 2019, 2022 and 2025 LTSC editions, ESXi 6.5 through 9.0 and the 'ESXi 9.1 - U1' entry, RHEL 7 to 9, SLES 15 and Ubuntu 18.04 to 22.04. Since no model-wide end date has been published by Dell, and BIOS and iDRAC builds are still appearing in 2026, a unit that passes all three can go on to Dell third-party maintenance once its Dell cover lapses.
Secure Boot comes first: 15th Generation servers are on Dell's list of platforms affected by the rollover of Microsoft's 2011 certificates, which Dell says 'expire starting June 2026', a date already past by October 2026, and KB 000402373 makes BIOS 2.22.0 the minimum R6515/R7515 BIOS that includes the updated certificates. The second check is fit: if a workload has outgrown one processor, 16 DIMMs and 2 TB, or Gen3 front NVMe, or needs an OS outside Dell's list, replacing the unit makes more sense than maintaining it. Owners at that point can look at the PowerEdge R7615, the next model in the same line; for a refurbished alternative, see the refurbished PowerEdge configurator.
- Dell's R7515 Drivers & Downloads page offers iDRAC 7.30.30.54, rated 'Urgent' and dated 21 Aug 2026. Check the iDRAC build on any R7515 you plan to keep in service. (dell.com)
- Dell's iDRAC9 versions KB 000178115 (last modified 10 Sep 2026) still shows 7.20.80.50 (December 2025) as the latest iDRAC9 for the R7515. It does not reflect the 7.30.30.54 build on the model's Drivers & Downloads page, so use the Drivers & Downloads page for the current build. (dell.com)
- Dell's iDRAC9 7.20.80.50 release notes (December 2025) list the R7515 under '15th Generation of PowerEdge Servers'. That release lists only 15th and 16th Generation systems. (dl.dell.com)
- Secure Boot certificate rollover: Dell says Microsoft's 2011 Secure Boot certificates 'expire starting June 2026'. It names 14th, 15th and 16th Generation server platforms as affected. (dell.com)
- Dell KB 000402373 (last modified 23 Jun 2026) gives BIOS 2.22.0 as the minimum R6515/R7515 BIOS that includes the updated Microsoft Secure Boot certificates, and says newer BIOS versions also include them. (dell.com)
- Dell's supported-OS list for the R7515 includes Windows Server 2016, 2019 LTSC, 2022 LTSC and 2025 LTSC; VMware ESXi 6.5 to 9.0 (plus an 'ESXi 9.1 - U1' entry); RHEL 7/8/9; SLES 15; Ubuntu 18.04/20.04/22.04. (dell.com)

Dell's launch release of 17 September 2019 said the R7515 and R6515 were available worldwide from that day. Dell publishes the BIOS for both as a single package, 'Dell Server PowerEdge BIOS R6515/R7515 Version 2.25.1', and its Secure Boot KB applies one 2.22.0 minimum to the pair. Dell's iDRAC9 7.20.80.50 release notes put the R7515 among 15th Generation PowerEdge servers, in a release covering only 15th and 16th Generation systems. Dell's R7515 Technical Guide (Rev. A12, November 2022) sets the R7515 against its predecessor, the PowerEdge R7415. If you also run R730s, see PowerEdge R730 end of life.

Questions people ask about the PowerEdge R7515
Is there a date when Dell stops supporting the R7515?
Dell has not published one for the model. Support on an R7515 ends with the warranty or contract attached to its Service Tag, so the date is read unit by unit; Dell's EOSL spreadsheet has no row for the R7515.
Does Dell's iDRAC9 versions KB show the latest R7515 build?
No. Dell's iDRAC9 versions KB 000178115, last modified 10 September 2026, still lists 7.20.80.50 (December 2025) as the latest for the R7515. The model's Drivers & Downloads page already offers iDRAC 7.30.30.54, rated Urgent and dated 21 August 2026, so take the build from there.
Where is the Service Tag on an R7515, and what does it tell me?
It is on the slide-out information tag at the front of the server. Dell's contract services page, given that tag, reports the unit's warranty status and when that warranty expires (Dell KB 000132024).
What is the next model after the PowerEdge R7515?
Looking ahead, the PowerEdge R7615 is the next model in the same line. Dell has published no model-wide end-of-sale date for the R7515, so this page gives no changeover date.
Can I get third-party maintenance on an R7515 with rear drive bays or DC power?
Third-party contracts generally provide diagnosis, replacement parts and engineer visits, but the quote depends on the build. List the rear 3.5-inch bays, the PERC or HBA model, any BOSS-S1 and whether the supplies are AC, HVDC or -48 to -60 V DC, so the cover matches the unit.
