HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus end of life

There is no model-wide HPE end-of-support date for the ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus, and although the model is retired from sale, HPE is still releasing firmware for it. 'Service pack for HPE ProLiant Gen10 and 10 Plus, v2026.07.00.00' lists System ROM v3.76_05-28-2026 and iLO 5 v3.20 for the Gen10 Plus, while the third-party tracker eosl.date shows the model as 'Currently Supported' and leaves its end-of-support date blank. Check that your unit is the Gen10 Plus, not the Gen10 Plus v2, which has its own QuickSpecs, processors and System ROM.

Every row names its basis. A third-party tracker date is not the vendor’s own, and “not published” means exactly that.

Where the ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus stands today

The Gen10 Plus is an Intel-based MicroServer: an Ultra Micro Tower that can stand upright or lie flat, with one Xeon E-2200 or 9th Gen Pentium G on the C242 chipset; the final QuickSpecs list the Xeon E-2224 and Pentium G5420. Version 1 of those QuickSpecs is dated 3 February 2020, which is not a general-availability date, and V13 of 18 August 2025 updated the Standard Features section under an undated RETIRED banner. As of 8 October 2026, Support Center searches found no end-of-life PCN for this model; nearby PCNs are titled for other products, a00136611 for the DL20 and ML30 Gen10 Plus and a00143611 for Gen11 servers including the MicroServer Gen11.

With no model-wide date, HPE cover ends unit by unit. First confirm the label shows a Gen10 Plus product number: P16005 for the Pentium G5420 models, or P16006, P18584 or P19752 for the Xeon E-2224 models. Then run the serial through Warranty Check in HPE Support Center; it returns each service type with start and end dates, counted from purchase for registered units and estimated from manufacture otherwise. eosl.date's release date for the model, 1 April 2021, conflicts with the 3 February 2020 date of HPE's QuickSpecs Version 1, and Park Place's EOSL library has no page for the Gen10 Plus.

Finding the date for your own unit

HPE does not publish a model-wide end-of-support date for the ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus. Coverage is set per serial number. Sign in to HPE Support Center and open Warranty Check (https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/?card=wc, or Resources > Warranty Check). Enter the serial number from the product label and click Submit. The results list each service type with its start and end dates and a status: 'Active' (end date more than 90 days away), 'Expiring Soon' (less than 90 days left), 'Expired' (ended less than a year ago) or 'Active in Future'. If the product was registered with HPE, warranty expiry is based on the purchase date; otherwise HPE estimates it from the manufacture date. Check that the product number on the label is a Gen10 Plus SKU (P16005, P16006, P18584 or P19752), not a Gen10 Plus v2 SKU. What still works after HPE support ends

Firmware supply has not stopped for this model. SPP v2026.07.00.00 (PDF created 5 August 2026) marks the 'ROM Flash Firmware Package - HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus (U48) Servers, v3.76_05-28-2026' and the iLO 5 v3.20 online flash package for this server. HPE's SPP component matrix keeps the U48 ROM separate from the Gen10 Plus v2's U64 ROM, so flash only the one that matches.

Access is less settled. Notice a00094704 (v2, 13 January 2025) states that ProLiant Gen10 servers 'and future ProLiant and Apollo server generations' no longer need entitlement verification for System ROM firmware or for the SPP from Gen10 SPP 2019.12.0 onward, an HPE Passport account being enough, but the MicroServer Gen10 Plus is absent from its affected-platform list. HPE's SPP validation note, undated but in a PDF from February 2017, instead ties SPP downloads to an active warranty or support agreement and has HPE sales or a partner handle SPP, BIOS System ROM and CPLD downloads for units out of warranty, while iLO and controller components, drivers, and safety and security firmware download without entitlement validation. Check against your own HPE account.

  • HPE notice a00094704 (v2, 13 Jan 2025) says entitlement verification is no longer required to download the SPP (Gen10 SPP 2019.12.0 and later) or System ROM firmware for ProLiant Gen10 servers 'and future ProLiant and Apollo server generations'; an HPE Passport account is enough. The notice's affected-platform list does not name the MicroServer Gen10 Plus. (support.hpe.com)
  • HPE's undated SPP validation note (PDF created 27 Feb 2017) conflicts with a00094704. It says an active warranty or support agreement is needed to download the SPP, and that out-of-warranty SPP, BIOS System ROM or CPLD downloads go through HPE sales or a partner. It also says safety and security firmware, iLO, controller components and drivers download without entitlement validation. Check against your own HPE account. (support.hpe.com)
  • HPE is still releasing firmware for this model. 'Service pack for HPE ProLiant Gen10 and 10 Plus, v2026.07.00.00' (PDF created 5 Aug 2026) marks 'ROM Flash Firmware Package - HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus (U48) Servers, v3.76_05-28-2026' and 'Online ROM Flash Firmware Package - HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5, v3.20' for the MicroServer Gen10 Plus Server. What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus

Power and cooling in a MicroServer Gen10 Plus are single, non-redundant parts: a 180 W external power adapter and one system fan. Storage bays number four, all LFF, non-hot-plug and SATA, holding up to 16 TB of HDD. The S100i SR Gen10 software RAID works only in UEFI mode and supports only Windows, and HPE offered the Smart Array E208i-p SR Gen10 as an option. The rest is one low-profile PCIe 3.0 x16 riser slot, two ECC UDIMM slots taking up to 32 GB, and an embedded Intel i350-AM4 with four 1GbE ports.

Establish the management set-up before quoting. The iLO 5 ASIC gives remote management only with the iLO Enablement Kit (P13788-B21), which adds a dedicated iLO NIC port and turns on iLO 5 Essentials features; without it, management is in-band only, and HPE says 'iLO support will follow same warranty term as the server itself.' Server third-party maintenance usually brings fault diagnosis, spare parts and engineer visits; when requesting a quote through the maintenance coverage builder, say whether the kit and an E208i-p are fitted.

Extend or refresh the ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus?

On Windows, extending a MicroServer Gen10 Plus on maintenance is straightforward to justify. HPE's SPP v2026.07.00.00 carries System ROM and iLO 5 updates for it, and the June 2024 matrix a50010742enw lists Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025, without separating certified from supported. The QuickSpecs gave a 1-year parts, 1-year labour, 1-year onsite next-business-day server warranty, so check each serial for any remaining HPE cover.

VMware is where the model runs short. HPE lists it for ESXi 6.5 U3, 6.7 U3 and 7.0 through 7.0 U3 on its archived matrix (a50010843enw, June 2024) only, and gives no ESXi 8.0 or 9.x listing; its current 8.0/9.x matrix lists the Gen10 Plus V2 and Gen11 MicroServers instead. Broadcom KB 318697 shows the Coffee Lake Xeon E-2100 and E-2200 (4 or 6-core) series as 'Deprecated' for 9.x and 'Discontinued' for the future major vSphere release, with no Pentium entry. A host that must move beyond ESXi 7.0 U3 within HPE's listings argues for refresh.

  • The MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 is a different model with its own QuickSpecs (a50004293enw, Version 1 dated 19-Sept-2022). It uses the Intel Xeon E-2300 / 10th Gen Pentium G (E-2314, G6405) on the C252 chipset. The Gen10 Plus uses the E-2224 / Pentium G5420 on the C242. (support.hpe.com)
  • Gen10 Plus pre-configured models use product numbers P16005-xx1 (Pentium G5420) and P16006-xx1, P18584-xx1 and P19752-371 (Xeon E-2224). Use the product number on the label to tell it apart from the v2. (support.hpe.com)
  • HPE's SPP component matrix lists separate System ROM families: 'MicroServer Gen10 Plus (U48)' and 'MicroServer Gen10 Plus v2 (U64)'. Flash only the ROM that matches the model. (support.hpe.com)
  • HPE's Windows Server support and certification matrix (a50010742enw, stamped June 2024) lists WS2016, WS2019, WS2022 and WS2025 for the MicroServer Gen10 Plus. The Gen10 Plus v2 is listed for WS2019 to WS2025. The matrix does not separate certified from supported. (hpe.com)
  • HPE's archived VMware ESXi matrix (a50010843enw, June 2024) lists the MicroServer Gen10 Plus for ESXi 6.5 U3, 6.7 U3 and 7.0 through 7.0 U3. It is not in HPE's current ESXi 8.0/9.x matrix (a50010842enw), which lists only the Gen10 Plus V2 and Gen11 MicroServers. HPE lists no ESXi 8.0 or 9.x for this model. (hpe.com)
  • Remote management needs the iLO Enablement Kit P13788-B21. HPE says 'iLO support will follow same warranty term as the server itself.' (support.hpe.com)
  • Broadcom KB 318697 lists 'Xeon E-2100 Series, Xeon E-2200 (4 or 6-core) Series' (Coffee Lake) as 'Deprecated' in 9.x and 'Discontinued' in the future major vSphere release. No Pentium entry appears. (knowledge.broadcom.com)
  • The QuickSpecs give a server warranty of 1-year parts, 1-year labour and 1-year onsite support with next-business-day response. Check each unit's serial number for its actual coverage. (support.hpe.com)

In the MicroServer line, the Gen10 Plus followed the AMD Opteron X3000-based MicroServer Gen10 (inferred from the product line). The next model in the same line is the Gen10 Plus v2, with the Xeon E-2314 or Pentium G6405 on the C252 chipset, QuickSpecs Version 1 dated 19 September 2022, and HPE Windows listings from Windows Server 2019 to 2025. This model's firmware arrives in HPE's combined Gen10 and Gen10 Plus service pack, so the ProLiant Gen10 Plus family and the ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Plus end of life page give useful context, but kit requirements and tracker status here belong to this model alone.

Each bar runs from release to the milestone that marks end of support for the model as a whole. Amber bars end on a third-party tracker's date, not the vendor's. A dashed open end means no end date is published — not that support is indefinite. Component and accessory dates (a management controller, a power module) are not treated as the model's.

Questions people ask about the ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus

Is the HPE MicroServer Gen10 Plus end of life?

It is retired from sale under HPE's QuickSpecs banner, but HPE sets no model-wide end-of-support date, and cover is checked per serial in Warranty Check. eosl.date, a third-party tracker, shows it as 'Currently Supported' without an end-of-support date.

Is HPE still releasing firmware for the MicroServer Gen10 Plus?

Yes. SPP v2026.07.00.00, whose PDF was created on 5 August 2026, marks System ROM v3.76_05-28-2026 (U48) and iLO 5 v3.20 for this server.

How do I tell a MicroServer Gen10 Plus from a Gen10 Plus v2?

Read the product number on the label: Gen10 Plus pre-configured models use P16005, P16006, P18584 or P19752. The v2 has its own QuickSpecs and uses the Xeon E-2314 or Pentium G6405 on the C252 chipset, and its System ROM family is U64 rather than the Gen10 Plus's U48, so flash only the matching ROM.

Does the MicroServer Gen10 Plus support ESXi 8?

HPE lists no ESXi 8.0 or 9.x for this model. Its archived VMware matrix lists ESXi 6.5 U3, 6.7 U3 and 7.0 through 7.0 U3, and the current 8.0/9.x matrix lists the Gen10 Plus V2 and Gen11 MicroServers instead.

Can a MicroServer Gen10 Plus be covered by third-party maintenance?

You can ask for a quote. For this model, give the product number from the label, the processor (Xeon E-2224 or Pentium G5420), and whether the iLO Enablement Kit and an E208i-p controller are fitted. HPE ties iLO support to the server's own warranty term, so check what HPE cover the serial still shows before arranging anything else.
