Where the ProLiant ML30 Gen10 Plus stands today
The ML30 Gen10 Plus QuickSpecs (a50002590enw) are marked RETIRED, describing the base products as 'obsolete and are no longer available for sale', but give no retirement date; Version 22 of 3 September 2024, the last revision listed, updated the operating-system support section. Its end-of-life notice, PCN a00136611, is a joint DL20/ML30 Gen10 Plus 'EOL Process Dates' document whose content beyond the title needs a sign-in, so no PCN date appears here.
The standard warranty is shorter than the DL20 Gen10 Plus's. HPE's QuickSpecs state 'Server Warranty includes 3-Year Parts, 1-Year Labor, 1-Year Onsite support with next business day response', so on those terms years two and three cover parts but not labour or onsite visits; the pre-configured model tables give three years of parts, labour and onsite for APAC, Japan and PRC. To see what applies to your ML30, open Warranty Check in HPE Support Center after signing in and enter the serial from the product label; HPE bases the warranty end date on the purchase date if the unit was registered, and otherwise estimates it from the manufacture date.
HPE's model-wide EOL dates for this server are in PCN a00136611. Sign in to HPE Support Center and open https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=a00136611en_us. Your own warranty or contract end date is set per serial number. Find the serial number on the product label, sign in to HPE Support Center, open Warranty Check (https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/?card=wc), enter the serial number and read the start and end dates for each service type. HPE says that if the product was registered, the warranty end date is based on the purchase date; otherwise it is estimated from the manufacture date.
What still works after HPE support ends
The 2026.07.00.00 SPP release notes ask for an HPE account login on both the SPP Download page and SPP Custom Download, and set out no warranty or contract condition. HPE's January 2025 customer notice a00094704 (version 2) points the same way: entitlement verification is no longer required for downloading SPP and BIOS/System ROM firmware on ProLiant Gen10, Apollo Gen10 and future ProLiant and Apollo generations, and an active warranty or support agreement is no longer needed to download Gen10 SPP 2019.12.0 and later releases, or System ROM firmware.
Not every HPE page agrees. The SPP 'Warranty/Support Agreement Validation' note, undated in print and created on 27 February 2017 according to its PDF metadata, says the SPP requires an active warranty or HPE support agreement and that, once a product is out of warranty, getting the SPP, BIOS System ROM or CPLD means contacting HPE or a partner; it lists ProLiant safety and security firmware, drivers, iLO and controller components as available without entitlement validation. HPE's documents conflict, so both positions are recorded. Keep an HPE account active, and for HPE cover beyond the original warranty ask HPE or a partner, quoting the serial.
- HPE customer notice a00094704 (version 2, 13 January 2025): 'entitlement verification is no longer required for downloading product updates such as Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) and BIOS/ System ROM firmware for ProLiant Gen10 servers, Apollo Gen10 servers and future ProLiant and Apollo server generations.' It adds that current Gen10 and future server generations 'no longer require an active warranty or support agreement for downloading Gen10 SPP (2019.12.0 and later releases only) or System ROM firmware.' (support.hpe.com)
- HPE's Gen10/Gen10 Plus SPP 2022.03.0 release notes say 'Entitlement verification is no longer required for the Gen10/Gen10 Plus SPP versions' and that the production SPP 'can be downloaded using HPE passport account, without the need for active warranty or support agreement.' The same document also has an older line saying both download options 'require HPE Passport login and an active warranty or HPE support agreement.' (downloads.hpe.com)
- HPE's current Gen10/Gen10 Plus SPP 2026.07.00.00 release notes (published August 2026) say both download routes, the SPP Download page and SPP Custom Download, 'require an HPE account to log in'. They state no warranty or contract requirement. (support.hpe.com)
- HPE's SPP 'Warranty/Support Agreement Validation' note contradicts the documents above. It has no printed date; its PDF metadata gives a creation date of 27 February 2017. It says an active warranty or HPE support agreement is required to download the SPP, and that for out-of-warranty products the SPP, BIOS System ROM and CPLD need contact with HPE or a partner. It also says ProLiant safety and security firmware, iLO, controller components and drivers are available without entitlement validation. HPE's documents disagree, so both positions are recorded. What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the ProLiant ML30 Gen10 Plus
The ML30 Gen10 Plus is a 4U tower that can be rack-mounted on HPE's optional sliding shelf (874578-B21). Drive cage options are 8 SFF hot-plug, 4 LFF hot-plug or 4 LFF non-hot-plug, and each has two half-height 5.25in media bays for an optional slim-line DVD bay kit, RDX or LTO, plus one onboard M.2 NVMe/SATA slot; if backups rely on a tape or RDX drive there, decide whether the contract covers it. Standard RAID is Intel's embedded VROC SATA software RAID (0/1/5/10), with optional Smart Array E208i-p and E208e-p (Essential) and P408i-p and P408e-p (Performance) controllers; HPE says the internal E208i-p and P408i-p are not supported in non-hot-plug models.
The standard supply is a 350W Gold-level non-redundant FIO unit, available at 92% or 94% efficiency; the redundant option uses the RPS Enablement Kit (P45209-B21) with HPE Flex Slot 500W Platinum or 800W Titanium hot-plug supplies. For UK and EU spares, HPE lists 865438-B21 and P03178-B21 (single-output, 96%) and P45212-B21 (the 350W FIO kit, multi-output, 94%) as meeting the EU Lot 9 AC efficiency rules that apply from 1 January 2024; P45212-B21 is 'currently available in EMEA only'. iLO 5 shares NIC1, with a dedicated iLO port as an option, and memory tops out at 128 GB as four 32 GB DDR4 UDIMMs at 3200 MT/s. For background on contract scope, see what third-party maintenance covers.

Extend or refresh the ProLiant ML30 Gen10 Plus?
Keeping a working ML30 Gen10 Plus on maintenance is reasonable: it is in HPE's current SPP, HPE's Windows Server certification matrix has it down for 2019, 2022 and 2025 (2016 is not listed), and the VMware matrix covers ESXi 8.0 through 8.0 U3 and ESX 9.0 and 9.1, ESXi 7.0 U3 appearing only on the archived-products page. Because the headline warranty gives labour and onsite support for the first year only, the question of who attends a fault arises earlier here than on the DL20 Gen10 Plus, so it is worth settling server third-party maintenance before a failure rather than after.
A non-hot-plug ML30 Gen10 Plus has fewer RAID options as a VMware host: the embedded VROC RAID does not support VMware, and HPE does not support the internal E208i-p or P408i-p in that chassis, so check how such a host's storage is protected before extending it. Before deciding, read PCN a00136611 once signed in and compare it with each serial's Warranty Check dates. The ML30 Gen11, the next model in the same line, is named in the title of HPE's revised Gen11 end-of-life notice (a00143611), whose dates and in-scope product numbers also sit behind a sign-in. To compare other builds, see the refurbished ProLiant configurator.
- HPE has started the end-of-life process for this model. PCN a00136611, 'HPE ProLiant DL20/ML30 Gen10 Plus Servers - End Of Life (EOL) Process Dates', covers the ML30 and DL20 Gen10 Plus together. Its content can only be read by users signed in to HPE Support Center. (support.hpe.com)
- HPE's ML30 Gen10 Plus QuickSpecs are marked RETIRED: the base products are 'obsolete and are no longer available for sale.' (support.hpe.com)
- Firmware is still being released. The ML30 Gen10 Plus is a listed supported platform in HPE's Gen10/Gen10 Plus SPP 2026.07.00.00 (release notes published August 2026). (support.hpe.com)
- The standard warranty is shorter than the DL20 Gen10 Plus's. The QuickSpecs say 'Server Warranty includes 3-Year Parts, 1-Year Labor, 1-Year Onsite support with next business day response', so in years two and three the warranty covers parts but not labour or onsite support. The pre-configured model tables add that warranty in APAC, Japan and PRC is 3-year parts, 3-year labour and 3-year onsite with next-business-day response. Check each serial number. (support.hpe.com)
- Windows Server: HPE's Windows Server certification matrix lists Windows Server 2019, 2022 and 2025 for the ML30 Gen10 Plus, with no installation note. Windows Server 2016 is not listed. (hpe.com)
- VMware: HPE's current VMware matrix lists the ML30 Gen10 Plus for ESXi 8.0, 8.0 U1, 8.0 U2 and 8.0 U3 and for ESX 9.0 and 9.1, with no installation note. ESXi 7.0 U3 appears only on HPE's archived-products page. (hpe.com)
- VMware hosts and RAID: the QuickSpecs say the embedded Intel VROC SATA RAID 'supports Windows Server and Linux, but does not support VMware.' The internal Smart Array E208i-p and P408i-p controllers are not supported in the non-hot-plug models. (support.hpe.com)
- Power supply spares for UK and EU sites: the QuickSpecs say that from 1 January 2024 EU Lot 9 requires AC supplies to be 94% efficient (multi-output) or 96% efficient (single-output). HPE lists 865438-B21 and P03178-B21 (single-output, 96%) and P45212-B21 (the ML30 Gen10 Plus 350W FIO kit, multi-output, 94%) as Lot 9-compliant, and notes that P45212-B21 is 'currently available in EMEA only'. (support.hpe.com)
- Refresh planning: HPE has issued a revised PCN titled '(Revision) HPE ProLiant DL20/ML30/MicroServer/DL320/DL360/DL380/DL380a/RL300/ML350/ML110 Gen11 Servers - End Of Life (EOL) Dates'. Its body, including the dates and which ML30 Gen11 product numbers it covers, needs an HPE sign-in. Read it before choosing the ML30 Gen11 as a like-for-like replacement. (support.hpe.com)

The ML30 shares PCN a00136611 with the DL20 Gen10 Plus, and the notice's body, including whether it gives the two servers different dates, can be read only after a sign-in; the DL20 Gen10 Plus, which has the longer standard warranty of the two, has its own page here. In the ML30 tower line, the ML30 Gen10 came before the Gen10 Plus and the ML30 Gen11 is the next model; the Gen11 notice that names it also names the DL20, MicroServer, DL320, DL360, DL380, DL380a, RL300, ML350 and ML110 Gen11 in its title. Other Gen10 Plus models have separate pages, for example ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Plus end of life.

Questions people ask about the ProLiant ML30 Gen10 Plus
Is the HPE ML30 Gen10 Plus end of life?
It is in HPE's end-of-life process and retired from sale: the QuickSpecs mark it RETIRED and call the base products obsolete. What is missing is a public end-of-support date. PCN a00136611, which holds HPE's EOL process dates for the ML30 and DL20 Gen10 Plus, opens only after a Support Center sign-in, and HPE still lists the tower in its current SPP.
How long is the warranty on an HPE ML30 Gen10 Plus?
HPE's QuickSpecs give 3 years parts, 1 year labour and 1 year onsite with next-business-day response, and the pre-configured model tables give 3 years of each for APAC, Japan and PRC. The actual end dates are set per unit, so enter the serial number in HPE's Warranty Check after signing in.
Can I still get SPP and firmware updates for the ML30 Gen10 Plus?
HPE still releases them: the ML30 Gen10 Plus is a listed platform in SPP 2026.07.00.00. Customer notice a00094704 (January 2025) says entitlement verification is no longer required for downloading SPP and BIOS/System ROM firmware for ProLiant Gen10 servers and future ProLiant generations, and the SPP 2026.07.00.00 notes ask for an HPE account login with no warranty or contract requirement stated. An HPE validation note with no printed date (PDF metadata: 2017) says an active warranty or support agreement is required for the SPP, so HPE's documents conflict.
What came after the ML30 Gen10 Plus?
The ML30 Gen11 is the next model in the same tower line, and the ML30 Gen10 came before the Gen10 Plus. HPE's revised Gen11 EOL notice names the ML30 Gen11 in its title, with its dates and product numbers behind a sign-in.
Does the ML30 Gen10 Plus support VMware ESXi?
HPE's VMware matrix lists it for ESXi 8.0 through 8.0 U3 and for ESX 9.0 and 9.1; ESXi 7.0 U3 appears only on HPE's archived-products page. The embedded VROC RAID does not support VMware, and HPE does not support the internal Smart Array E208i-p or P408i-p in non-hot-plug models, so check the chassis before planning a VMware host. A maintenance quote for that setup can be put together in the maintenance coverage builder.
