| Withdrawn from marketing | 18 September 2025 | Vendor-publishedThis is the date of the LP1391 change-log entry 'The server is now withdrawn'. | Lenovo ThinkSystem SR630 V2 Server Product Guide (withdrawn product) LP1391 |
| End of Service (EOS), EMEA | 31 December 2030 | Vendor-publishedRe-queried 2026-10-08: 7Z70 and 7Z71 each list models CTO1WW and CTOLWW, and all return 2030-12-31. The 'for AI' base models in LP1391 (7Z71CTOAWW, 7Z71CTOHWW) returned no date. | Lenovo End of Service Date Lookup (HT504708), end-of-service API, 7Z71 CTO1WW, EMEA |
Where the ThinkSystem SR630 V2 stands today
For the SR630 V2, Lenovo's lookup gives a consistent answer: on 8 October 2026 machine types 7Z70 (one-year warranty) and 7Z71 (three-year warranty), each with model codes CTO1WW and CTOLWW, all returned 31 December 2030 for EMEA. Lenovo says it posts EOS dates 'at least 90 days before the actual EOS date and in most cases longer', and this one was in place more than four years ahead. The exceptions are the two 'for AI' base models in the LP1391 guide, 7Z71CTOAWW and 7Z71CTOHWW, which returned nothing; for those, Lenovo itself is the place to ask.
To confirm your server, read the machine type/model from the label, open Lenovo's End of Service Date Lookup (HT504708), select EMEA (the UK's region, since Lenovo posts EOS per geo) and enter both. The 18 September 2025 withdrawal, recorded as 'The server is now withdrawn' in the LP1391 change log, ended new sales and is not a support date; no separate withdrawal letter with an effective date was found. Each unit's own warranty and contract end dates come from its serial number, entered in Lenovo's warranty lookup.
Lenovo publishes the EOS date by machine type and model. Open https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht504708, choose EMEA, and enter 7Z70 or 7Z71 with model CTO1WW or CTOLWW. On 2026-10-08 all four combinations returned 31 December 2030. Units built on the 'for AI' base models (7Z71CTOAWW or 7Z71CTOHWW) returned no date; ask Lenovo directly for those. Warranty and contract end dates are per unit: check the serial number at https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/warranty-lookup.
What still works after Lenovo support ends
Maintenance bundles for the SR630 V2 were still being posted in September 2026. The 7Z70 download list on 8 October 2026 included UpdateXpress System Packs v2.4 for the SR630 V2 and SR650 V2, dated 4 to 8 September 2026, and the SR630 V2 uses the same XCC 5.70 and UEFI 3.60 packages as the SR650 V2. No serial number is needed to download Lenovo server software, so these updates are available whatever the unit's contract position. Whether they stay posted after the 2030 EOS is not stated. Lenovo's notice says support is withdrawn at EOS, though 'in some cases' Lenovo will use 'reasonable commercial endeavors' to maintain eligible products beyond that date.
The SR630 V2 product guide lists Lenovo's warranty upgrades and post-warranty support, from Standard Next Business Day through Premier Next Business Day and Premier 24x7 4-Hour Response to Premier Support Plus 24x7 4-Hour Response, plus 1-year or 2-year warranty extensions. What is actually on offer for a withdrawn model depends on region and unit age, and Lenovo support ends at the posted EOS, so confirm with Lenovo or a partner. Lenovo third-party maintenance is an alternative for units whose Lenovo cover has ended.
- Lenovo server software needs no serial number to download ('For Lenovo Server products, serial numbers are NOT required to download software'), so SR630 V2 firmware downloads are not tied to a contract. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
- After EOS Lenovo withdraws support, though 'in some cases' it will use 'reasonable commercial endeavors to maintain eligible products beyond the EOS date'. It does not say whether downloads stay posted after EOS. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
Vendor support you can still buy
- Lenovo warranty upgrades and post-warranty support (Standard Next Business Day, Premier Next Business Day, Premier 24x7 4-Hour Response, Premier Support Plus 24x7 4-Hour Response); 1-year or 2-year warranty extensions — Listed in the SR630 V2 product guide. Availability for a withdrawn model and for a given unit depends on region and unit age, and Lenovo support ends at the posted 31 Dec 2030 EOS. Confirm with Lenovo or a partner. What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the ThinkSystem SR630 V2
Packing two Ice Lake processors and up to twelve directly connected NVMe drives into 1U makes the SR630 V2's parts list specific. Storage is up to four 3.5-inch, twelve 2.5-inch or sixteen EDSFF E1.S hot-swap bays; rear options add two 2.5-inch or two 7 mm bays, and there is an internal M.2 module. A contract should say which of these bay types and drives your unit carries.
Cooling uses up to eight dual-rotor hot-swap 40 mm fans, N+1 redundant (configuration dependent), and power comes from up to two hot-swap redundant AC supplies from 500 W to 1800 W (Platinum or Titanium), with an 1100 W -48 V DC option. I/O is up to three PCIe 4.0 slots, a dedicated OCP 3.0 SFF slot for 1/10/25 GbE, and space for up to three single-wide GPUs. The XClarity Controller runs on a Pilot4 XE401 BMC with a dedicated 1 GbE RJ-45 port, and memory is 32 DIMM slots (8 channels per CPU) up to 8 TB, or 12 TB with Optane PMem 200. The maintenance coverage builder helps structure that list for a quote.

Extend or refresh the ThinkSystem SR630 V2?
An SR630 V2 that is out of warranty but otherwise healthy is a reasonable candidate for extension. Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide (data updated 30 September 2026) certifies it for Windows Server 2016 to 2025 and for ESXi 7.0 U2 to 9.1, and Lenovo support runs to 31 December 2030 in EMEA. Read what third-party maintenance covers if you are weighing it against Lenovo's own post-warranty options.
The reasons to refresh are about the 1U form factor and the end date, not about current support. A host expected to run past the end of 2030 needs a hardware plan or cover that continues past Lenovo's EOS, and one that needs more than three PCIe 4.0 slots or three single-wide GPUs has outgrown this chassis. Two names matter here: the ThinkSystem SR630 V3, the next model in the same line, and the ThinkSystem SR630 V4 (Xeon 6 P-cores, machine types 7DG8/7DG9/7DLM), which Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide lists in its SR630 V2 entry.
- The SR630 V2 product guide lists Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025 and VMware ESXi 8.0 through 9.1 among supported operating systems. (lenovopress.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide (data updated 30 Sep 2026) lists the SR630 V2 as 'Supported & Certified' for Windows Server 2016 through 2025 and for ESXi 7.0 U2 through 9.1. It marks the server 'Withdrawn' and names the ThinkSystem SR630 V4 (Xeon 6 P-cores, machine types 7DG8/7DG9/7DLM) as its replacement server. (lenovopress.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo is still releasing maintenance bundles. On 2026-10-08 the 7Z70 download list showed SR630v2/SR650v2 UpdateXpress System Packs v2.4 dated 4-8 Sep 2026 (for example RHEL 10.1, dated 8 Sep 2026). The SR630 V2 shares its XCC (DS577641, v5.70) and UEFI (DS577444, v3.60) packages with the SR650 V2. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo posts EOS dates per geo (UK = EMEA) and says it posts them 'at least 90 days before the actual EOS date and in most cases longer'. 31 Dec 2030 is a posted date, not a planned one. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)

Alongside the SR630 V2 in the ThinkSystem V2 rack range sits the 2U ThinkSystem SR650 V2. The two share Ice Lake processors, the 8 TB memory ceiling (12 TB with PMem), XCC and UEFI packages and UpdateXpress bundles, and both were withdrawn on 18 September 2025 with the same 31 December 2030 EMEA EOS. Density is the difference: up to 40 2.5-inch bays and eight PCIe 4.0 slots in the SR650 V2, against twelve 2.5-inch bays and three slots here. For the SR630 that came before it, which Lenovo's guide says the SR630 V2 improves on, see SR650 and SR630 end of life.

Questions people ask about the ThinkSystem SR630 V2
Is the Lenovo SR630 V2 end of life?
Only in the sense that it is no longer marketed: Lenovo withdrew it on 18 September 2025. Its posted EMEA End of Service is 31 December 2030, so the SR630 V2 has Lenovo support today.
How long will Lenovo support the ThinkSystem SR630 V2?
Lenovo's posted EMEA date is 31 December 2030 for model codes CTO1WW and CTOLWW under both machine types, 7Z70 and 7Z71. Units built on the 'for AI' base models 7Z71CTOAWW and 7Z71CTOHWW are the exception: they returned no date on 8 October 2026, so check with Lenovo.
Are SR630 V2 firmware downloads tied to a Lenovo contract?
No. Lenovo asks for no serial number on server software downloads, and it published UpdateXpress System Packs covering the SR630 V2 in September 2026. Whether those downloads outlast the 2030 EOS is something Lenovo has not addressed.
What came after the ThinkSystem SR630 V2?
Lenovo's SR630 V3 product guide says the SR630 V3 improves on the previous-generation SR630 V2, which makes it the next model in the same line; that guide is not an end-of-life notice. Separately, the OS Interoperability Guide's SR630 V2 entry lists the ThinkSystem SR630 V4 (Xeon 6 P-cores).
Is third-party maintenance an option for the SR630 V2?
You can request a quote for one. A third-party contract usually covers fault diagnosis, parts and engineers, and can continue past Lenovo's 2030 EOS. For an accurate quote, list the drive configuration (3.5-inch, 2.5-inch or E1.S), power supplies and any GPUs or PMem fitted.
