Where the ThinkSystem SR530 stands today
Two withdrawals sit on the SR530's record: the 1st Gen Xeon Scalable configurations on 2 February 2021 (LP0639 change log) and the model as a whole on 12 December 2023 (LP1045). Neither ends support. No withdrawal announcement letter giving an effective date was found for either. What the SR530 lacks is an End of Service date. Lenovo's lookup keeps products listed after their EOS has passed (the System x3550 M4, machine type 7914, still shows 31 December 2020), so the SR530's absence means a date has not been posted. Lenovo says it will post one at least 90 days ahead, and in most cases longer.
Lenovo's lookup works from the machine type and model printed on the label rather than from the serial number. Read it from the SR530's label (7X07 is the one-year-warranty type, 7X08 the three-year type) and enter it with its model code, CTO1WW for example, in Lenovo's End of Service Date Lookup (HT504708) with EMEA selected; an empty result means no EOS has been posted yet. Warranty and any Lenovo service contract run to per-unit dates that the warranty lookup returns from the serial number. Lenovo's historical 'at least five years' of support after withdrawal is, in its words, 'subject to change at Lenovo's sole discretion without notice', so it is not a date for the SR530.
Lenovo sets End of Service by machine type and model, not by serial number. Open https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht504708, choose geo EMEA for the UK, and enter the machine type (7X07 or 7X08, from the machine type/model on the product label) and the model code (for example CTO1WW). On 2026-10-08 the lookup held no entry for either SR530 machine type, so no EOS has been posted yet. Warranty and contract end dates are per unit: check the serial number at https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/warranty-lookup.
What still works after Lenovo support ends
Because Lenovo does not ask for a serial number when you download server software, SR530 firmware is available with or without a warranty or contract. On 8 October 2026 the newest XClarity Controller package on the 7X07 list was XCC 10.40 (4 September 2025) and the newest UEFI was 4.30 (29 August 2025), the same packages the SR550 uses. What happens to those downloads once an EOS arrives is something Lenovo does not address. Lenovo's EOS notice describes support as withdrawn at that point, and says that in some cases Lenovo will use 'reasonable commercial endeavors' to maintain eligible products beyond it.
The SR530 product guide lists Lenovo warranty upgrades and post-warranty options at Standard Next Business Day, Premier Next Business Day and two 24x7 4-Hour Response levels (Premier and Premier Support Plus), cautioning that some may not be offered in every market or region. Whether Lenovo still sells any of them for a withdrawn SR530, or for a particular unit, is unverified and a question for Lenovo or a partner. Lenovo third-party maintenance is another route once Lenovo cover on a unit has run out.
- Lenovo server software needs no serial number to download: 'For Lenovo Server products, serial numbers are NOT required to download software.' Downloads of SR530 firmware are therefore not tied to a warranty or contract. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo's EOS notice treats EOS as the withdrawal of support and says that 'in some cases, Lenovo will use reasonable commercial endeavors to maintain eligible products beyond the EOS date'. It does not say whether downloads stay posted after EOS. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
Vendor support you can still buy
- Lenovo warranty upgrades and post-warranty support (Standard Next Business Day, Premier Next Business Day, Premier 24x7 4-Hour Response, Premier Support Plus 24x7 4-Hour Response) — Listed in the SR530 product guide, which notes that 'some warranty upgrades may not be available in all markets or regions'. We did not verify that Lenovo still sells them for this withdrawn model or for a given unit. Confirm with Lenovo or a partner. (lenovopress.lenovo.com)
What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the ThinkSystem SR530
The SR530 packs its parts into 1U, and a contract should still name each one. Storage is one of three layouts: four 3.5-inch SATA simple-swap bays, four 3.5-inch SAS/SATA hot-swap bays, or eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA hot-swap bays. Expansion is up to three PCIe 3.0 slots depending on the risers; slot 3 runs at x16 only with the second processor, and GPUs are not supported, so record which adapter cards are fitted. Up to two power supplies can be fitted, redundant and hot-swap, in 550 W or 750 W Platinum or 750 W Titanium form.
Cooling needs planning. Fan replacement on the SR530 means a shutdown, because its fans are not hot-swap; one processor uses four and two use six, with N+1 redundancy. Memory is twelve RDIMM or LRDIMM sockets up to 768 GB, with no persistent memory support, and management runs through the XClarity Controller (Pilot 4 chip) and a dedicated 1 GbE RJ-45 port. For how parts and engineer visits are usually handled, see what third-party maintenance covers.

Extend or refresh the ThinkSystem SR530?
An SR530 on Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022, or on VMware ESXi 7.0 to 8.0 U3, runs an operating system that Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide (data updated 30 September 2026) still lists as Supported & Certified for the 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable model. If the host does its job, has no reason to move up a release and can tolerate a shutdown for a fan swap, extending it on server third-party maintenance is a reasonable bridge.
The argument for refresh is the ceiling. The same guide lists 'None' for Windows Server 2025, ESXi 9.0 and ESXi 9.1, so those releases are not on Lenovo's support list for this server, and the newest XCC and UEFI packages on its download list date from August and September 2025. A 1U host that needs one of those newer releases is a candidate for replacement. Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide marks the SR530 'Withdrawn' and points from it to the ThinkSystem SR630 V3 (5th Gen Xeon, machine types 7D72/7D73/7D74), the next model in the same line; no end-of-life notice naming a successor was found.
- Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide (data updated 30 Sep 2026) lists the SR530 (SP Gen 2) as 'Supported & Certified' for Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022 and for VMware ESXi 7.0 through 8.0 U3. It lists 'None' for Windows Server 2025, ESXi 9.0 and ESXi 9.1. (lenovopress.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide marks the SR530 as 'Withdrawn' and names the ThinkSystem SR630 V3 (5th Gen Xeon, machine types 7D72/7D73/7D74) as its replacement server. (lenovopress.lenovo.com)
- On 2026-10-08 the newest platform firmware on Lenovo's 7X07 download list was XCC 10.40 (DS577645, dated 4 Sep 2025) and UEFI 4.30 (DS577448, dated 29 Aug 2025). These packages are shared with the SR550. The newest items on the list are cross-platform XClarity Essentials tools dated 2-3 Sep 2026. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo says it has 'historically provided service and support for at least five years following a product's withdrawal from marketing', and that this 'is subject to change at Lenovo's sole discretion without notice'. That is not a date commitment for the SR530. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)

Related models
Within the first ThinkSystem Xeon Scalable generation, the SR530 is a 1U rack model. The 2U ThinkSystem SR550 has the same processor family, twelve-socket 768 GB memory limit, power supply options and XCC and UEFI packages, and its whole-model withdrawal came two months earlier, on 13 October 2023; neither has a posted EOS. That sets both apart from the ThinkSystem ST550 tower, whose EMEA EOS is 30 June 2029. Lenovo's SR650 and SR630 are dealt with separately, on SR650 and SR630 end of life.

Questions people ask about the ThinkSystem SR530
Is the ThinkSystem SR530 end of life?
It is withdrawn from marketing; the LP1045 change log records that on 12 December 2023. Lenovo has not posted an End of Service date for machine types 7X07 or 7X08, so there is no published end to its support. By Lenovo's own account, an EOS will appear in its lookup at least 90 days before it takes effect.
When will Lenovo end support for the SR530?
No date has been published. Check Lenovo's End of Service Date Lookup under EMEA with your machine type and model code; on 8 October 2026 it returned nothing for either SR530 machine type. Lenovo's historical 'at least five years after withdrawal' remark can change without notice, and its posted dates for sibling models do not follow it, so it cannot stand in for an SR530 date.
Do I need a warranty to download SR530 firmware?
No. Lenovo server downloads need no serial number, so a lapsed warranty does not block them. The SR530 shares its XCC 10.40 and UEFI 4.30 packages with the SR550. Lenovo gives no word on whether they will stay posted once an EOS takes effect.
Does the Lenovo SR530 support Windows Server 2025 or ESXi 9?
Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide lists 'None' for Windows Server 2025, ESXi 9.0 and ESXi 9.1 on the 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable SR530. Its Supported & Certified list for that model runs from Windows Server 2016 to 2022 and from ESXi 7.0 to 8.0 U3.
What came after the Lenovo SR530?
Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide points SR530 owners to the ThinkSystem SR630 V3, a 5th Gen Xeon server and the next model in the same line. The guide is not an end-of-life notice, and none that names a successor was found.
