Where the ThinkSystem SR570 stands today
Lenovo withdrew the SR570 from marketing in stages. In the Xeon SP Gen 1 guide (LP0641), Standard and TopSeller models were withdrawn on 16 January 2021, and the 2 February 2021 update recorded the SR570 with 1st Gen Xeon Scalable processors as withdrawn from marketing. The combined Gen 1/Gen 2 guide (LP1047) withdrew every EMEA preconfigured model on 28 June 2022 and all preconfigured models on 2 August 2023, noting that CTO factory builds were still available then. LP1047's abstract now says the SR570 is withdrawn from marketing, but no change-log entry dates the end of CTO ordering.
None of those dates ends support. Lenovo's lookup works from geography, machine type and model rather than the serial number: in its End of Service Date Lookup, choose EMEA, enter 7Y02 (one-year warranty) or 7Y03 (three-year warranty), the opening four characters of the label's machine type/model, and add the model code, for example CTO1WW. Lenovo posts EOS dates at least 90 days before they apply, so the blank result on 8 October 2026 means no EOS has been posted and support has not ended. What does run out on an individual server is its warranty or contract, which Lenovo's warranty lookup reports from the serial number.
Lenovo sets End of Service by geography, machine type and model, not by serial number. Open Lenovo's End of Service Date Lookup (https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht504708) and choose geo EMEA for UK units. Enter the machine type (7Y02 or 7Y03, the first four characters of the machine type/model on the product label) and the model code, for example CTO1WW. On 2026-10-08 neither SR570 machine type had an EOS date posted. Warranty and contract end dates are per unit: enter the serial number at https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/warranty-lookup.
What still works after Lenovo support ends
No warranty or contract is needed to download SR570 firmware. Lenovo does not ask for a serial number before a server software download, though its storage products require one with active warranty. On 8 October 2026 the newest SR570 platform packages on the 7Y03 list were XClarity Controller 10.40 (DS577645, 4 September 2025) and UEFI 4.30 (DS577448, 29 August 2025), neither flagged as needing login or warranty.
Once an EOS is posted and passes, Lenovo's notice describes support as withdrawn, though 'in some cases, Lenovo will use reasonable commercial endeavors to maintain eligible products beyond the EOS date'; the notice is silent on downloads. Separately, the SR570 guide, last updated August 2023, lists Lenovo warranty upgrades giving three, four or five years of coverage, alongside one- or two-year post-warranty extensions and Premier Support. Whether Lenovo still sells those for this withdrawn model, or for an SR570 of your unit's age, was not verified, so confirm with Lenovo or a Lenovo partner.
- Lenovo server software needs no serial number to download: 'For Lenovo Server products, serial numbers are NOT required to download software.' Lenovo storage is different: it needs a valid serial number with active warranty. SR570 firmware downloads are therefore not tied to a warranty or contract. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo's EOS notice treats End of Service as the withdrawal of support. It says that 'in some cases, Lenovo will use reasonable commercial endeavors to maintain eligible products beyond the EOS date'. It does not say whether firmware downloads stay posted after EOS. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
Vendor support you can still buy
- Lenovo warranty upgrades and post-warranty extensions (3, 4 or 5 years of coverage; 1-year or 2-year post-warranty extensions; Premier Support) — Listed in the SR570 product guide (last updated Aug 2023). We did not verify that Lenovo still sells these for this withdrawn model or for a unit of a given age. Confirm with Lenovo or a Lenovo partner. (lenovopress.lenovo.com)
What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the ThinkSystem SR570
The 1U SR570 was offered with four drive options, and the contract should name the one fitted: four 3.5-inch bays as simple-swap SATA or as hot-swap SAS/SATA, eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA hot-swap bays, or ten 2.5-inch hot-swap bays (six SAS/SATA, four AnyBay). NVMe connection depends on the processor count: onboard NVMe needs both processors, while the 1610-4P switch adapter is for one-processor builds only, so single- and dual-processor SR570s can need different parts. RAID may be Intel RSTe on the onboard 6 Gb SATA or a 12 Gb SAS/SATA adapter with up to 8 GB of flash-backed cache, and 12 Gb HBAs were also offered.
Up to two redundant hot-swap supplies can be fitted: 550 W or 750 W Platinum on 100-240 V, or 750 W Titanium on 200-240 V. Memory reaches 1 TB with 16x 64 GB RDIMMs, and 2nd Gen builds can add up to four Optane DCPMMs, which belong on the schedule if fitted. Add the XClarity Controller, Standard, Advanced or Enterprise on a Pilot 4 chip, with its dedicated RJ-45 port. Fault diagnosis, replacement parts and engineer visits are what server third-party maintenance generally supplies, with cover that does not have to stop at a vendor's End of Service; the maintenance coverage builder takes a quote request for the exact build.

Extend or refresh the ThinkSystem SR570?
A 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable SR570 on Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022, ESXi 7.0 to 8.0 U3, or RHEL 9.0 to 9.3 sits inside Lenovo's certified range: the OS Interoperability Guide data Lenovo updated on 30 September 2026 rates that build 'Supported & Certified' for each. With firmware downloads open and no EOS posted, keeping such a host on maintenance is a defensible choice while it does its job.
The next operating-system upgrade is where that changes. For the same 2nd Gen entry the guide shows 'None' for Windows Server 2025, ESXi 9.0 and 9.1, RHEL 9.4 and later, and RHEL 10, so plan the hardware alongside any of those moves. No Lenovo withdrawal notice names a follow-on for the SR570; the OS Interoperability Guide marks it 'Withdrawn' and lists the ThinkSystem SR630 V3 (5th Gen Xeon, machine types 7D72/7D73/7D74), which is the next model in the same line. Lenovo's past practice of providing service and support for at least five years after withdrawal should not be pencilled in as an end date either, since Lenovo says that practice is subject to change at its sole discretion without notice.
- Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide (data updated 30 Sep 2026) lists the SR570 with 2nd Gen Xeon SP as 'Supported & Certified' for Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022, VMware ESXi 7.0 through 8.0 U3, and RHEL 9.0 to 9.3. It shows no support ('None') for Windows Server 2025, ESXi 9.0 or 9.1, RHEL 9.4 and later, or RHEL 10. (lenovopress.lenovo.com)
- No Lenovo withdrawal notice names a follow-on for the SR570, and there is no SR570 V2. Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide marks the SR570 'Withdrawn' and names the ThinkSystem SR630 V3 (5th Gen Xeon, machine types 7D72/7D73/7D74) as its replacement server. (lenovopress.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo is still releasing SR570 firmware. On 2026-10-08 the newest platform firmware on Lenovo's 7Y03 download list was XCC 10.40 (DS577645, dated 4 Sep 2025, shared with SR530/SR550/SR590/SR630/SR650/ST550/ST558) and UEFI 4.30 (DS577448, dated 29 Aug 2025). Neither package was flagged as requiring login or warranty. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)
- Lenovo says it 'has historically provided service and support for at least five years following a product's withdrawal from marketing'. It adds that this 'is subject to change at Lenovo's sole discretion without notice'. This is not a commitment, so no EOS date is derived from it. (datacentersupport.lenovo.com)

Questions people ask about the ThinkSystem SR570
Is the ThinkSystem SR570 end of life?
Lenovo has withdrawn it from marketing but has not posted an End of Service date. On 8 October 2026 the EOS lookup returned no date for 7Y02 or 7Y03 in any of the four geos queried. The last dated withdrawal step was 2 August 2023, when all preconfigured models were withdrawn and CTO builds were still available.
When does Lenovo end support for the SR570?
No date has been posted. Lenovo posts EOS dates at least 90 days ahead, and in most cases longer, per geography, machine type and model. Check 7Y02 or 7Y03 with your model code in Lenovo's End of Service Date Lookup, and the serial number in its warranty lookup for the unit's own cover.
Is there an SR570 V2?
No. There is no SR570 V2, and no Lenovo withdrawal notice names a follow-on for the SR570. Lenovo's OS Interoperability Guide lists the ThinkSystem SR630 V3, a 5th Gen Xeon server, against the SR570; it is the next model in the same line.
Does the SR570 support Windows Server 2025 or ESXi 9?
Not on Lenovo's certification data. The OS Interoperability Guide (updated 30 September 2026) shows 'None' for Windows Server 2025, ESXi 9.0 and ESXi 9.1 on the 2nd Gen Xeon SP SR570, whose certified range runs from Windows Server 2016 to 2022 and from ESXi 7.0 to 8.0 U3.
Can I get third-party maintenance for an SR570?
Third-party maintenance for a server of this kind usually means a provider other than Lenovo diagnosing faults, supplying replacement parts and sending engineers, and it can continue beyond a vendor's End of Service. Give the provider the machine type, drive layout, RAID adapter and processor count, since onboard NVMe needs two processors and the 1610-4P adapter is for one-processor builds. The ThinkSystem SR550 end-of-life page covers a model on the same XCC package.
