What Lenovo actually publishes for the SR650 and SR630
Lenovo's End of Service Date Lookup (support article HT504708) returns an End of Service (EOS) date once you enter a geo code, a machine type and a model. Lenovo states that announced EOS dates can vary by geo, and the UK sits under EMEA. For every SR650, SR630, SR650 V2 and SR630 V2 model we queried on 13 September 2026, the EMEA date matched North America, Asia Pacific and Latin America. That is our observation of those entries, not a Lenovo commitment, so check UK units under EMEA.
Two statements on the same page limit how far ahead you can see. Lenovo posts EOS dates at least 90 days before the actual date, and in most cases longer. Planned EOS dates are not posted to the lookup: Lenovo asks customers who need them for hardware planning to contact their local Lenovo sales team. A machine type or model code with no entry today therefore has no public date, and a missing date should not be read as open-ended support.
Lenovo also explains how it sets the date. It weighs the number of machines installed in a geographic location, spare parts availability and the availability of skilled resources, and in some cases it will use reasonable commercial endeavours to maintain eligible products beyond the EOS date. The page adds that Lenovo has historically provided service and support for at least five years after a product's withdrawal from marketing, subject to change at its sole discretion without notice. Treat that as history, not a formula. Work to the posted date for each machine type and model, never a date calculated from the withdrawal year.
The same page says that for products registered to the EPEAT standard, replacement parts stay available for at least five years after the date of sale. We have not confirmed whether the SR650 or SR630 are EPEAT-registered, so do not build that commitment into a plan for these models. Withdrawal is a separate event again: Lenovo's article HT516871 says a server at the end of its product life cycle moves to the Withdrawn Product section and can no longer be purchased, and it sends you back to the EOS Date Lookup for End of Service status. SR650 and SR630 End of Service dates by machine type and model code
The first-generation SR650 (2U) and SR630 (1U) take up to two 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, and 1st Gen Intel Xeon processors are also supported. Lenovo's product guides list two machine types for each, identified by base warranty: 7X05 (1 year) and 7X06 (3 years) for the SR650, and 7X01 (1 year) and 7X02 (3 years) for the SR630. Only the 3-year types appear in Lenovo's lookup, and each lists seven model codes.
For the SR650 7X06, model codes CTO4WW and CTO5WW carry 30 June 2028 and the other five carry 30 April 2028. The SR630 7X02 spreads much further. CTO8WW reached its End of Service date on 30 April 2026; CTO5WW, CTO6WW and CTOBWW run to 30 April 2028; CTO4WW and CTO7WW to 30 June 2028; and CTOAWW to 31 March 2029. Two SR630s with the same machine type can therefore sit almost three years apart.
The lookup gives a date per model code, and this page does not attempt to match codes to hardware builds, so it cannot tell you which SR630 carries the 2026 date and which carries 2029. Look up the exact machine type and model code recorded for each unit. Two gaps need care. The lookup returns no models at all for 7X05 or 7X01 in EMEA, NA, AP or LA. And the base code CTO1WW returns no date under 7X05, 7X06, 7X01 or 7X02. Do not borrow a 7X06 or 7X02 date for those units; Lenovo's stated route for EOS dates that are not posted is its local sales team.

SR650 V2, SR630 V2 and the other Lenovo servers in the same racks
The V2 models have simpler dates. The SR650 V2 (machine types 7Z72 and 7Z73) and SR630 V2 (7Z70 and 7Z71) each list two model codes, CTO1WW and CTOLWW, and all of them carry 31 December 2030. Both use 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake) processors. Lenovo Press recorded both as withdrawn in their 18 September 2025 guide updates, so they can no longer be bought from Lenovo, yet they have the longest posted runway of any server on this page. If a refurbished Lenovo server is on the table as a stopgap, that date belongs in the decision.
If the estate also runs ThinkSystem towers or older System x rack servers, the same lookup covers them. Two System x models are already past their posted dates: every listed System x3550 M5 (machine type 8869) model reached End of Service on 30 June 2024, and every listed x3650 M5 (8871) model on 31 December 2025. Both are Xeon E5-2600 v4 platforms. If they are still in production, they come ahead of any SR650 in the queue for a refresh or for end-of-life hardware support. The dates below apply only to the machine types shown.

Warranty end, withdrawal and End of Service are three different dates
An SR650 can be out of warranty, withdrawn from sale and still years from its End of Service date at the same time, so keep the three dates separate. Lenovo's warranty FAQ (HT509981) says a product's warranty period starts on the original purchase date shown on the sales receipt or invoice, and that base warranties for commercial customers run from one to three years. The machine type shows the base warranty: 7X06 and 7X02 carry three years, 7X05 and 7X01 one year. Warranty end therefore follows each unit's purchase date, while End of Service is posted against machine type and model code.
Withdrawal is the third date, and for these servers it is history. Lenovo's SR650 product guide records withdrawal in all markets in its 17 June 2024 update, and the SR630 guide records withdrawal from marketing in its 19 July 2024 update. New units can no longer be bought from Lenovo, while the posted EOS dates for 7X06 and 7X02, one model code aside, run to 2028 and 2029.
Put all three dates against each asset, then work to whichever affects you first. A unit whose warranty lapsed years ago, with no maintenance agreement in place, already depends on your spares shelf for hardware faults, whatever its EOS date says. What actually changes for your team at the End of Service date
Work to the posted date as the point after which Lenovo service for that machine type and model code can no longer be assumed. Lenovo does not set it mechanically: as described above, it weighs installed base, spare parts and skilled resources, and in some cases uses reasonable commercial endeavours to maintain eligible products beyond the date. Do not plan on that exception. If you want it, ask Lenovo well before the date, per machine type and model code, and get the answer in writing.
Firmware access does not depend on a contract. Lenovo's download article HT515891 states that serial numbers are not required to download software for Lenovo server products, and the article covers UEFI and XClarity Controller (XCC) firmware as well as drivers. Being able to download published firmware is a separate question from whether new releases keep coming for a withdrawn model, so check the recent release history on your server's download page rather than assuming either way.
The management controller affects how you apply updates. In Lenovo's XCC documentation for Intel Xeon SP 1st and 2nd Gen servers, the class that includes the SR650 and SR630, firmware updates (Agent Free Update and Remote Update) are listed as a Standard Level feature, while Remote KVM is an Advanced Level feature. Storage is the exception. The same Lenovo article requires a valid serial number with active warranty before downloads unlock for Lenovo storage products, and XClarity Administrator will only download firmware for ThinkSystem DM series storage when each DM device is entitled for hardware service and support. If your SR650s front a Lenovo array, treat the storage entitlement as a separate decision from the servers, and see storage and SAN maintenance for the array side.
The Intel processor clock runs on its own timetable
Lenovo's EOS date covers the server. Intel ARK shows a separate servicing status for each processor SKU, and for the sample 1st and 2nd Gen SKUs checked for this page, those dates have already passed. The 1st Gen Xeon Scalable (Skylake) Gold 6130 and Silver 4110 show End of Servicing Updates, with both an End of Servicing Updates date and an End of Interactive Support date of 31 December 2023. The 2nd Gen (Cascade Lake) Gold 6230, Gold 5218 and Silver 4210 show ESU Notification Issued, with an End of Servicing Updates date of 30 June 2025.
Two 3rd Gen (Ice Lake) SKUs, the processor generation used in the V2 servers, sit elsewhere: the Silver 4309Y and Gold 6330 show Baseline Servicing, and ARK gives no End of Servicing Updates date for either. These are sample SKUs from each generation, not a list of the processors Lenovo offered in these servers. Read ARK against the exact SKU fitted in each server before drawing conclusions for a security review.
The point for a risk register is sequence. On every 1st and 2nd Gen SKU checked, Intel's End of Servicing Updates date (31 December 2023 or 30 June 2025) falls before the earliest posted Lenovo date for the SR650 and SR630 (30 April 2026). A server can therefore be inside Lenovo's End of Service window while its processor has already passed Intel's End of Servicing Updates date. Record both per unit. Your options: stay with Lenovo, upgrade, or extend hardware cover
Stay with Lenovo while it makes sense. Units under their original warranty or a Lenovo maintenance agreement, on model codes dated 2028 or 2029, have a posted runway. If you need certainty beyond what is posted, Lenovo's route for planned dates is its local sales team, and its EOS page allows for maintaining eligible products past the date on a reasonable-endeavours basis in some cases. Get any such commitment per machine type and model code.
Upgrade when the workload, the processor servicing position or a software deadline justifies it. Lenovo names the ThinkSystem SR650 V3 as the recommended replacement for the SR650; it takes 5th Gen (Emerald Rapids) or 4th Gen (Sapphire Rapids) Xeon Scalable processors. For the SR630, Lenovo lists the SR630 V2 and ThinkSystem SR630 V3 as follow-on servers. The V2s are now withdrawn and can no longer be bought from Lenovo; if a refurbished V2 is under consideration, weigh its posted 31 December 2030 date. The generation after the V3 is the V4: the SR650 V4 and SR630 V4 improve on their V3 predecessors and use Intel Xeon 6700-series or 6500-series processors, with the SR630 V4 also offering E-core options. Extend hardware cover with third-party maintenance where the server still does its job. Servnet's Lenovo third-party maintenance covers hardware break-fix, spares and on-site engineering for SR650 and SR630 estates, including units past their posted date such as a 7X02 CTO8WW. It does not supply Lenovo software. On ThinkSystem servers that boundary matters less than on some platforms, because Lenovo does not require a serial number to download server firmware and drivers. In a mixed estate the answer differs per unit: a 7X02 CTO8WW unit already past its date needs cover or retirement now, units on 2028 codes suit a planned refresh window, and V2s have the longest posted runway. A five-step check for every Lenovo unit
1. Record the machine type and model code for every SR650, SR630 and V2 unit, not just the model name. Machine type 7X02 alone spans 30 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.
2. Look each one up under EMEA on Lenovo's End of Service Date Lookup (HT504708). Log units with no entry, such as 7X05 and 7X01, as "no posted date" rather than guessing one.
3. Add each unit's warranty end, counted from its original purchase date, next to its EOS date.
4. Record the Intel ARK servicing status for the exact processor SKU fitted.
5. Decide per unit between Lenovo cover, an upgrade and third-party maintenance. Re-check the lookup at least monthly for any unit without a posted date: Lenovo's minimum notice for a posted date is 90 days, so a quarterly check could surface a date with little time left. When is the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 end of life?
Lenovo recorded the SR650 as withdrawn in all markets in its 17 June 2024 product guide update. The End of Service date, which is the one that matters for support, depends on machine type and model code. On Lenovo's EOS Date Lookup (EMEA, checked 13 September 2026), SR650 7X06 models CTO4WW and CTO5WW show 30 June 2028, and CTO8WW, CTO9WW, CTOFWW, CTOJWW and CTOKWW show 30 April 2028. The 1-year-warranty machine type 7X05 has no posted date.
What is the Lenovo SR630 end of service date?
It varies by model code under machine type 7X02. CTO8WW reached End of Service on 30 April 2026; CTO5WW, CTO6WW and CTOBWW show 30 April 2028; CTO4WW and CTO7WW show 30 June 2028; and CTOAWW shows 31 March 2029. Look up each unit's exact machine type and model code rather than assuming one date for the model. Machine type 7X01 has no entry.
Why does my SR650 or SR630 not show an end of service date?
Lenovo's lookup returns no models for the 1-year-warranty machine types 7X05 (SR650) and 7X01 (SR630) in EMEA, NA, AP or LA, and the base model code CTO1WW returns no date under 7X05, 7X06, 7X01 or 7X02. Lenovo says planned EOS dates are not posted to the lookup and directs customers who need them for planning to their local Lenovo sales team. Do not borrow a 7X06 or 7X02 date for those units.
Is the Lenovo SR650 V2 end of life?
Lenovo Press lists the SR650 V2 and SR630 V2 as withdrawn products, recorded in their 18 September 2025 guide updates. Their End of Service date on Lenovo's lookup (EMEA) is 31 December 2030 for machine types 7Z72, 7Z73, 7Z70 and 7Z71, model codes CTO1WW and CTOLWW.
Can I download Lenovo server firmware without a warranty?
For Lenovo server products, yes. Lenovo's article HT515891 says serial numbers are not required to download software for Lenovo servers, and it covers UEFI and XClarity Controller firmware. Lenovo storage is different: downloads need a valid serial number with active warranty, and XClarity Administrator requires each DM series device to be entitled for hardware service and support before it downloads that firmware.
Are Lenovo end of service dates different in the UK?
Lenovo says EOS dates can vary by geo, and the UK falls under EMEA. For the SR650, SR630, SR650 V2, SR630 V2, ST550, ST250 and x3650 M5 models we queried on 13 September 2026, EMEA returned the same dates as North America, Asia Pacific and Latin America. What replaces the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650?
Lenovo names the SR650 V3 as the recommended replacement for the SR650, and describes the SR650 V4, based on Intel Xeon 6700-series or 6500-series P-core processors, as improving on the SR650 V3. For the SR630, Lenovo lists the SR630 V2 and SR630 V3 as follow-on servers, and the SR630 V4 improves on the SR630 V3.
