PowerEdge R750 end of life

No end-of-life date is published for the PowerEdge R750: as with all PowerEdge servers, Dell gives no model-wide EOL or EOSL date, and each unit's support lasts as long as its own Service Tag's warranty or contract. Two newer generations have followed this 2U, 32-DIMM server, the R760 and the 17G R770, yet Dell's August 2026 iDRAC9 release still lists the R750, and Dell qualifies it for Windows Server 2025 and ESXi 9.0 and 9.1.

PowerEdge R750 support dates

Every row names its basis. A third-party tracker date is not the vendor’s own, and “not published” means exactly that.

Where the PowerEdge R750 stands today

Dell's EOL and EOSL spreadsheet (KB 000185734), current to 2 October 2026, carries no standalone PowerEdge R750 row, and a Dell community professional replying in February 2025 to a forum question about the R550 wrote that Dell no longer presented EOL and EOSL dates for its PowerEdge lines from about the 13th generation onward. Set aside 30 November 2029: the spreadsheet gives it as the 'EOSS Date' for 'PowerFlex Appliance R750' and 'PowerFlex custom Node R750', beside an RTS date of 1 November 2021 and an EOL date of 4 November 2024, and all three describe the PowerFlex product built on the R750, not the general-purpose server. Nor does a third-party tracker fill the gap: no PowerEdge R750 entry appears in Park Place Technologies' EOSL library, which takes in the old Service Express database.

Online sales have moved on. On 8 October 2026 Dell's UK and US store URLs for the R750 returned a 302 redirect to the Dell homepage while the R760 pages loaded; with no end-of-sale date behind it, that means the R750 is no longer sold online, not that support has stopped. Dell's R750 manual gives three places to read the Service Tag: the information tag on the front, the MEST label on the back and a label on the chassis's left wall. Enter it on Dell's contract services page (Dell KB 000132024) for the unit's warranty status and expiry, bearing in mind that renewals are not offered in every country and reseller-bought units may have to renew through the reseller.

Finding the date for your own unit

Dell ties support end dates to each unit's Service Tag, not to the model. The Service Tag is on the information tag at the front of the system, on the Mini Enterprise Service Tag (MEST) label at the rear, and on a label on the left wall of the chassis (see 'Locating the Express Service Code and Service Tag' in the R750 Installation and Service Manual, https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/poweredge-r750_owners-manual_en-us.pdf). Enter the tag at https://www.dell.com/support/contractservices/ to see the warranty status and expiration date (Dell KB 000132024, https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/000132024). Renewals are requested at https://www.dell.com/support/incidents-online/email/extend-warranty. Dell says warranty renewals are not available in all countries, and units bought through a reseller partner may need to be renewed through that reseller.

What still works after Dell support ends

From Dell, an R750's hardware cover can be renewed against its Service Tag, which Dell describes as covering repairs or replacement parts for Dell-branded hardware; Dell publishes no model-wide maximum term. Firmware does not depend on it: Dell's firmware KB, updated 31 August 2026, puts every driver and firmware package for Dell servers on the Dell Support website as a free download. The precedent to watch is 14G. Dell recorded the end of iDRAC9 firmware for 14G in the iDRAC9 release notes rather than a separate dated notice, naming 7.00.00.183 as the last release for 14G, so models such as the R740 were dropped after it. The current 7.30.30.54 notes (August 2026) still list the R750 in a security-fix release, and no Dell end date for 15G iDRAC9 maintenance turned up, so check each new release's notes.

  • Dell's firmware KB says: 'All drivers and firmware for Dell servers are available to download for free on the Dell Support website.' So R750 BIOS, iDRAC and component firmware can be downloaded without an active warranty or contract (KB last modified 31 Aug 2026). (dell.com)
  • Dell recorded the end of iDRAC9 firmware for 14G in the iDRAC9 release notes, not in a separate dated notice. The current notes (7.30.30.54, Rev A00, August 2026) say: 'This release only supports Dell PowerEdge 15th and 16th generation servers... The last release that supported 14G servers is iDRAC9 version 7.00.00.183.' For the R750, check that note in each new iDRAC9 release. (dl.dell.com)

Vendor support you can still buy

  • Dell warranty renewal (per Service Tag) — Dell says warranties 'can be renewed to cover Dell-branded hardware repairs or replacement parts'. 'Warranty Renewals are not available in all countries', and reseller-bought units may need to renew through the reseller. Dell publishes no model-wide maximum term. Eligibility is shown per Service Tag. (dell.com)

What a maintenance contract needs to cover on the PowerEdge R750

Dell lists the R750's 2U chassis with twelve 3.5-inch SAS/SATA bays, eight 2.5-inch NVMe bays, or 16 or 24 2.5-inch SAS/SATA/NVMe bays, plus an optional rear set of two or four 2.5-inch drives. A 24-bay 2.5-inch unit and a 12-bay 3.5-inch unit need different drive spares covered. The R750's internal storage options in Dell's list are S150 software RAID, the HBA355i, the PERC H345, H745, H755 and H755N, and BOSS-S1 or BOSS-S2; for external storage Dell lists the PERC H840 and HBA355E.

Power is the other line to pin down. The R750 takes up to two PSUs from eight types, from a 700 W Titanium high-line unit to a 2400 W Platinum unit and a 2800 W Titanium high-line unit, with an 1100 W -48 to -60 V DC option; every AC unit also has a 240 V DC mixed-mode rating. With up to six full-height or eight low-profile PCIe Gen4 cards, an OCP 3.0 NIC slot and 2 x 1 GbE LOM, list add-in NICs and HBAs by part, along with the 32 DIMM sockets (up to 8 TB with two processors and 256 GB LRDIMMs) and the iDRAC9 controller. For the general model, see server third-party maintenance.

Extend or refresh the PowerEdge R750?

On software, the R750 is still inside Dell's current support lists. Dell's December 2025 Windows Server matrix qualifies the R750 for Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019 and 2016 (Dell does not factory-install 2025; the image comes from Microsoft) and leaves 15G rows unflagged where 14G platforms are marked end-of-life. For VMware, the May 2026 revision (A03) of Dell's ESXi 9.x compatibility matrix includes the R750 with Xeon SP 83xx, 63xx, 53xx and 43xx under ESXi 9.0 and 9.1, with hard drive and BOSS boot. Where Dell cover stops, third-party maintenance generally supplies diagnosis, parts and engineers; see an alternative to Dell ProSupport.

Two findings would favour refresh. According to Dell's matrix, any Marvell 412xx or 578xx network controller in an R750 is outside Dell's vSphere 9.x support on PowerEdge. If a future iDRAC9 release names a last version for 15G, in the way 7.00.00.183 was named the last for 14G, the R750 would get no further iDRAC9 releases after it. If refresh is chosen, the R760 is the next model in the same line and the 17G R770 is a further generation on. Refurbished Dell PowerEdge servers are another way to add capacity.

  • Firmware is still current. Dell's iDRAC9 7.30.30.54 (Rev A00, August 2026) is a security-fix release, and its supported-systems table lists the R750. Dell dropped 14G (for example the R740) after iDRAC9 7.00.00.183; the R750's management controller is still in active firmware support. (dl.dell.com)
  • Dell's Windows Server support matrix (PDF dated Dec 2025) lists the R750 as Qualified for Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019 and 2016. Footnote 8 on the WS2025 entry: WS2025 is not factory-installed; customers get the image from Microsoft. The matrix flags 14G platforms as having 'reached End of Life and are discontinued'; it does not flag the 15G rows. (dl.dell.com)
  • Dell's ESXi 9.x compatibility matrix (Rev A03, May 2026) lists the R750 with Intel Xeon SP 83xx/63xx/53xx/43xx for ESXi 9.0 and 9.1, with Hard Drive and BOSS as boot devices. Marvell 412xx and 578xx network controllers are not supported with vSphere 9.x on PowerEdge. (dl.dell.com)
  • Do not quote the 30 Nov 2029 date for this model. Dell's hardware EOL spreadsheet (KB 000185734, current as of 2 Oct 2026) gives 'PowerFlex Appliance R750' and 'PowerFlex custom Node R750' an RTS date of 1 Nov 2021, an EOL date of 4 Nov 2024 and an 'EOSS Date' of 30 Nov 2029. Those dates belong to the PowerFlex product built on the R750, not the general-purpose PowerEdge R750. (dell.com)
  • Checked on 2026-10-08: Dell's UK and US online-store URLs for the R750 return a 302 redirect to the Dell homepage, while the R760 product pages load. Dell has published no end-of-sale date, so this only shows the R750 is no longer sold online. (dell.com)

Dell's 17 March 2021 announcement named the R750 together with the R650, R750xa, C6520 and MX750c and gave the group planned global availability in May 2021. Dell's R750 Technical Guide (Rev A03, November 2022) compares it with the PowerEdge R740, and the R760 Technical Guide compares the R760 with the R750, which is why this page treats the R760 as the next model in the same line. For other PowerEdge models you may hold, see PowerEdge R730 end of life and PowerEdge R730xd end of life.

Each bar runs from release to the milestone that marks end of support for the model as a whole. Amber bars end on a third-party tracker's date, not the vendor's. A dashed open end means no end date is published — not that support is indefinite. Component and accessory dates (a management controller, a power module) are not treated as the model's.

Questions people ask about the PowerEdge R750

Is the Dell PowerEdge R750 end of life?

Dell publishes no model-wide end-of-life or end-of-service-life date for the R750; support runs out unit by unit with each Service Tag's warranty or contract. Dell's UK and US online stores no longer offered it on 8 October 2026, but without a published end-of-sale date that only means it is not sold online.

When does Dell stop supporting the R750?

Dell publishes no single date. Enter the R750's Service Tag on Dell's contract services page to see that unit's warranty expiry, and disregard the 30 November 2029 'EOSS Date' in Dell's spreadsheet, which applies to the PowerFlex Appliance and custom Node R750 products. The server end-of-life checker is the starting point for the rest of the estate.

Is the R750 supported on ESXi 9 and Windows Server 2025?

Dell's ESXi 9.x matrix (Rev A03, May 2026) lists the R750 for ESXi 9.0 and 9.1 with Xeon SP 83xx, 63xx, 53xx and 43xx processors and hard drive or BOSS boot, but Marvell 412xx and 578xx network controllers are not supported with vSphere 9.x on PowerEdge. Dell's December 2025 Windows Server matrix rates it Qualified for Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019 and 2016.

What came after the PowerEdge R750?

The next model in the same line is the PowerEdge R760, and Dell's R760 Technical Guide compares it with the R750. Dell's ESXi 9.x matrix also lists the 17G R770, a further generation on.

Does R750 firmware require a support contract?

No. Dell's firmware KB says every driver and firmware package for Dell servers is free on the Dell Support website. The August 2026 iDRAC9 7.30.30.54 release, which fixes security issues, names the R750 in its supported-systems table.
